Not a bad idea. I was thinking along the lines of trying it with Echo or Arcane Echo.
Oh and before anyone asks, that Fiery Blade Axe is reserved for a friend

"The spiders don't run from aoe for some reason..."
you don't really have any AoE skills that trigger mobs AI, just periodic bursts of damage.

No. Ranged foes have never scattered from AoE. Which is why the whole mob dies in one SoJ. With a Mo/D you can actually vanquish like 80% of the map, except for the burrowers that kill off enchantments(dont remeber their names)
02 May 2007 at 18:01 - 14
why not run into skybringer's mob and use ward of stability so ur spells arnt interrupted for a god percentage of time and just enough time to kill most of the enemies. Just dont try to use spells while ur in the 5 second time period in which u dont hav it in effect (that is only if u hav 16 earth).
02 May 2007 at 18:31 - 15
Why sacrifice speed for the entire run for the sake of making that one mob a little easier though? It doesn't take much skill to time around the knockdowns, as you have a 3 second warning anyway. What makes the mob difficult to survive is the pure damage they can deal with lightning skills, (45-50 for the bosses surge for example.) The bottom line is that the group is killable, it just takes a lot more skill than everything else in the zone.
ArKaiN, you mean the Mandragors. They don't have enchantment removal at all, in fact, but they are very capable lifestealers, even more so when they are on low health, thanks to Ravenous Gaze. The only other Necromancers are the Skale Blighters, which have Vile Touch and Grenth's Balance, which are easy kills provided you can get Sliver to target them. The thing that takes the cake for the mandragor groups however, is the fact that the warriors have wild blow, crippling this build's energy management quite easily.

This is true, thanx Moa for bringing this to my attention.
I just never noticed because I run 55 builds in that part of Elona and usually when a 55 is insta-killed it has to do with prot spirit being stripped.
I might try a 105 build on them, but since they're a mob of life stealers, it probably wont work anyway =[

IMO you can ditch one of the AoE crystal wave or tenai's crystals for glyph of restoration to help cope with degen. i will defnitely farm this place to deaf (no not death) so i can get a fiery and icy blade axe. so want one of each for my war to match my IDS and FDS =]
03 May 2007 at 10:24 - 18
IMO again, not needed - as far as degen goes, the worst you'll have to cope with is crippling anguish - not exactly dangerous on it's own. Besides, on this run, Aura of Restoration is far more efficient due to it not limiting the regular casting of medium-high energy spells - Essentially over a single 30 second "cycle" of skills, that is, casting everything as soon as it comes up. Glyph of Restoration would heal for 333 health, or 11 health per second when combined with the 3 most costly skills on the bar. Aura, on the other hand will heal a total of 357, or just shy of 12 health per second. Additionally, it does not restrict the timing of your more powerful spells - some enemies are strong enough that you will need to get off all your aoes in quick succession to take them down, (eg blighter groups.) Now Crip Anguish has a degen rate of -5, or 10 DPS, so either or would be enough to see off the degen with a little to spare for the occasional 1 or 2 damage you'll take from normal mobs. You only need to worry about Iboga for the 1st part of the run anyway. After that, you face enemies with cleave, but you're stronger than them, so it's no big deal.

To be honest 55hp monkey style is faster, SS or SOJ all the same But nice build for the peeps who dont have a monkey ready to start some grinding....

Bahhh, im not going all the way to factions to get shockwave, why not do a faster build!
enjoy
12 earth (you can add runes, im too lazy too)
12+1+3 fire
rest in what you want
04 May 2007 at 01:19 - 22
Got an Icy Blade axe and Daedal Shield from 2 spiders in a row today. Btw I farm with a monk... easy to the max.
04 May 2007 at 05:11 - 23
so does this place have a good gold drop rate
or should i try farming other places with my 55 necro
and can a 55 necro do this run ?
04 May 2007 at 06:04 - 24
been farming crazy two days, still no icy or fiery blade axe T.T if anyone would like to trade one of theirs for a bunch of gold items (max or near max, many inscribable)+a necrid horsemen to boot, PM me here or in game Balthazar of Source. So far still waiting to get one of each from this place, REALLY WANT ONE OF EACH FOR MY WAR! Great place, decent drops, only thing is mobs are far from each other heh.
What are the ideal mobs to kill if I'm looking for icy and fiery blade axe? I usually do the three mobs of spiders plus the mob with the para boss (and any other ibogas i cannot avoid, i dont like stormseed, lightning surge is too annoying to deal with though very easy =])
04 May 2007 at 06:24 - 25
Very great build and nice place to farm, have gotten many golds and even some Elite Tomes. This made me happy. 5 Stars *****

build kills 80 mobs, combination of insects, skales, slithers, stormseeds, and ibogas, timed run for all 80 is 15 minutes.
only thing i cant kill are the mandagor imps
04 May 2007 at 07:10 - 27
Nice guide, I might try with 55 monk first though.
04 May 2007 at 07:30 - 28
im going to get a ice axe for my monky
04 May 2007 at 16:52 - 29
Due to the number of low damage golds, and barely getting any at all, so far, it's medicore.
04 May 2007 at 17:34 - 30
There are several reasons why I didn't make this as a 55 build guide;
1: 55 builds are by far the most common types of build for solo farming in GW. IMO, we didn't really need another.
2: 55 builds are by far the most expensive to set up, owing to requirement of 5 superior runes as well as normally a full skill bar including an elite. This is especially true of monk 55, due to the cost of the runes. The core of this build is only 4 skills - Stoneflesh, Stone Striker, Mantra of Earth and Sliver Armor, the rest is adaptable. It doesn't even need an elite to do damage, making it ideal for players who are new or inexperienced.
3: One mistake while you're 55ing and it's all over. Protective Spirit goes down and one or 2 hits will kill you. Forgetting to refresh happens to the best of us. in the case of the E/Me build, this is far more forgiving.
4: I dislike 55ing, for all of the reasons stated above. Therefore, this is the ideal sort of build for anyone who shares my sentiments.
Other reasons why this guide is as an Ele:
VWK builds work on most of the mobs here, but they're ineffective on the bosses, neutering a potential source for profit. (Tested by my guild leader.)
I don't have a max level Necro or Ritualist on my primary account.
Sliver Armor: This skill can deal over 1000 damage in a single cast when used on a boss, (both of the bosses which are killable with this build have around 1000 health,) in 12 seconds. It's one of those skills that grows in power with the more that you aggro, making it ideal for this sort of work. It's not even Elite, which gives you so many extra options. And it's yours for a mere 1k and one skill point.
The purely defensive part of this guide is extremely easy to apply in team based PvE play - 3 skills to make your ele a damage tank with almost unlimited energy.
And lastly:
To everyone that's saying they can't be bothered to go all the way through Factions to cap Shockwave, it can be capped after Arborstone - the 4th mainland mission in the game. With heroes, all 4 of these missions are a walk in the park, believe me.
p.s, I'm going to test some variant builds tonight, so I'll post up some new stuff soon.
04 May 2007 at 19:31 - 31
well, in regards to your point under 2: it all started with the 105hp monk solobuild. It's hardly surprising why monk runes are the most expensive ^^
04 May 2007 at 21:22 - 32
I got req 9 Inscribable long sword here yesterday. Spiders dont always drop nice stuff but there are a few gems to be had.
I also got a req 9 STR GOLD Istani shield (-5 20% / +30 hp) from the spiders yesterday. Best drop I have got on n00b isle thus far.

Because ANet fixed this, It doesn't matter anymore if they are flagged out
05 May 2007 at 13:08 - 36
tried it a few times, died once because off an err7 but it worked like a charm the rest of the time
05 May 2007 at 15:59 - 37
Works good, getting some golds every run. Will this work on the corsairs in Zehlon reach?
06 May 2007 at 11:34 - 38
Remember that a lot of the body parts should be hoarded for Wintersday or other holidays. For example, I have a huge pile of juvenile termite legs -- and quite a few warrior tomes as well.
I've been going straight Slivernewal, but if the build listed here works it's a little faster, having a one more damage spell (and an elite at that).
Actually, it's the first time I ever added Mystic Regeneration into Slivernewal. That spell ROCKS, even at a very low level of Earth Prayers. No problem with the Blighters; Mystic plus Ether Renewal = plenty of health recovery.
But I can't handle the Ravenous Gaze Mandragor Imps AT ALL. And when enough Storm Jacaranda gather in one mob it's pretty hard to make it through all the knockdown.
07 May 2007 at 01:03 - 39
Anyone mind sharing the 55 monk build, becuase the run takes over 30 minutes. SoJ scatters the mobs too much and takes like five minutes per mob. -.- Any suggestions?

You just have to time when the KD from lightning surge lands. Don't cast when the icon starts blinking, unless it's a 1s spell or less in timing, or else you'd most likely have it interrupted. Make sure your vital enchants have a few seconds on them before you receive the KD. It's really not that difficult, as it's always going to be one KD at a time - the hex doesn't trigger multiple times just because all 3249832 mobs cast the same spell on you o-0 I do the entire run with a SS Mo/N though, so maybe it's tougher for other classes, I dunno. Just a few tips
