how is guild wars for you NOW?
scottbigboy
Ok since recent changes in the loot scaling/hard mode system have affected so many different people for different reasons i`m trying to find out what are peoples views on this current crisis guild wars is having.
Please be aware this is not a thread for ranting or raving about nerfing etccc theres plenty of other threads for that
Hopefully this thread will determine to some degree if the new changes are gladly appreciated or a big mistake
So really we all now fit into these groups
1- Love the changes (guild wars is my future)
2- Hate the changes (guild wars is the past)
3- Not fussed either way (i have a life lol)
If you could take the time to jot down a response it would be great and don`t forget this is not a thread to rant your views one way or the other its just to get overall picture on how the recent changes have affect everyones views.
Ok ill start the ball rolling my choice is number 2
the changes have greatly affected the way i play the game. i bought all 3 games because i liked the way they ran but since the changes its not the same and just doesnt do it for me anymore

With hard-mode they gave us a new challenge and some more cool titles to work for, so I think it's good.=P Don't care about loot-scaling, 'cause I always play in full parties anyway.
So yeah, option 1 for me, I guess.

1 - love the changes
I'm still having fun, still having lots to do and can't wait for the expansion

I dislike the changes. Chapter 1 was awesome. Chapter 2 was a comedy of errors. Chapter 3 was fun in a "check out the new area kinda way". However, the universal changes ruined all three chapters which means the Expansion is going to fall right into the same group as Chapter 2 unless the Devs go back to core concept from Chapter 1.

It just added more blandness and grind to a game that had already become quite bland. I stopped playing with any regularity a few weeks after Nightfall release, just hanging out to see if there were any changes towards GW gameplay style of 2 years ago, but that's not the case. So waiting it out for another round.

Scaling did not affect me and HM introduced some new challenges.
Somewhere between 'not fuzzed' and 'love'.

1) Although there's a notable increase in grind throughout the game and I hope that the next expansion doesn't give us more of just that...

Option 1!
I like GW.
I like GW.

I hated the changes. To be exact, I did not like a single update since the SF-update. Every patch made me angry and it took days to get back anough motivation to continue. Even patches with good things did upset me as ANet is unable to do one thing without breaking another.
I will quit GW, the only reason I'm still playing, is because I'm still waiting for a good online game to be released. But even if I don't find one, GW2 will never be installed on a computer I own. And GW:EN? Extremely unlikely. I don't like the game anymore, it's not the same game, that was released in spring 2005 and what I heard from gw2 I did even like less.

I love some of the changes. Hard mode is a very nice addition to the game. The only issue I have with it is the 1/2 casting time AI's get, but it's still quite fun.
I could care less about other changes. The loot scaling thing doesn't bother me, since I'm not a solo farmer and I haven't seen any difference in the drops I'm getting. (Other than the 3 black dyes in less than an hour I got farming cupcakes last weekend when I've only gotten 6 or 7 in the 3,000 + hours of playing before that!)
As far as I can tell, the only "crisis" going on is the greedy can't get a fix for their loot addiction.

option 3. I'll still play the game no matter what happens. But it's better than... watching TV in my spare time.

I'll most likely be buying GW2, but the current GW is nothing compared to GW when it was released. I wish ANet could bring that back.

I find that the changes keep it interesting.

Loot scaling isnt affecting me financially. There are new ways whereby money can be made.
That said, I am not one to care for the new titles because I hate the grind. I am not/will not be vanquishing anything or doing any missions in HM simply because I am fed up with the storyline already.
GW is gradually becoming less attractive to me and I find I spend less time playing GW with every passing day.
I think it took A-Net too long to decide where to go with the game after NF because new content is overdue.

If anything, I would have to pick #1.
While not 100% satisfied with a few things concerning Hard Mode, I appreciate it for breathing more life into PvE, which had become incredibly stale for me.

Definitely #1 GW is a great game, been playing for 2 years and expect to play as long as it's around.

None of the above.
I still love guildwars, I just love it a bit less now.

GW is an excellent game, and the devs actually listen to the players and attempt to balance, even when they nerf something out of existence (Cough, Angelic Bond, Cough). what people seem to fail to realize is that just because something changed and forced you to do the same, doesn't this just help REDUCE the grind. Its something different after all.
Ps. If you pick option 2, Quit playing and Quit posting, you just making it annoying for the rest of us.

GW is still the only game for me. I been playing almost 2 years and never had any major complaints with the game. Hopefully with GW:EN and GW2 on the way it will be even more exciting in the future.

Well spiteful ya got one thing right i will quit soon enough, but too be honest if it was a change that affected the way you played/liked the game would u be quick to ask people to leave the game i think youll find you can please some of the people some of the time but you cant please all of the people all of the time.
Debate is the only way things change and people are heard or are you a communist.
And if everyone had your attitude gwars would definatley not grown to be as big as it is.
So before you start showing huge amounts of disrespect to people who like you had paid there fees trying growing up a little
unbound00
Definately number 1.
In fact I don't see any crisis whatsoever. What I see is people having trouble adapting, not appreciating what they get, having trouble leting go. Most things in life don't stay the same for too long, you gotta learn to move through life dynamically.

As far as loot scaling goes, I'm not particularly fussed about it. I've never been much of a farmer anyway (never needed to - plenty other ways to earn some cash in-game). Loot scaling has not affected my style of adventuring in the slightest.
Where hard mode is concerned, I love it! I needed the new challenge and the new set of goals to keep me going, so as far as I'm concerned hard mode is a gift from the gods (thank you ANet!)

option numbero uno (1 for you grammar queens)
I really dont mind all the nerfs/loot changes because I know il never be rich annyway! I love guildwars the way it is lots of fun to play with groups and I cant wait for GW:EN.

It's like the girl you've been going out with for 2 years takes a little vacation alone, shows back up wearing men's clothes and announces she's had a sex change and says (s)he hopes that won't affect your relationship.
EternalTempest
Honestly, I still like it a lot.
In fact taking a mesmer through the game(s) for the 1st time (pve).
I've have grown a bit tired of GW from time to time, but that when I take a break for a month or more. I've been able to accept all the major changes to the game. The game has been flux since it launched, and I like the fact how devoted Anet is to trying to constantly improve the game. I'm looking forward to GW-EN.

Bane of Worlds
Im sort of stuck between 3 and 1. I really do want to play GW as much as possible but at the same time RL obligations comes firsts and have to play console games too. Overall it'll be option #1
Positives
I like the changes where the monster ai has faster cast, recharge, and attack speeds to encourage the use of SS necros(more so now ) and the good ole mesmer. Also, like the fact that some of the "rare" loot can be gained and their value is lowered for the casual player. Higher levels for enemy and a nice change for lower level areas. Those expensive lockpicks(use in normal mode for better chance of retainment and keep it half the time or use in place of the 1.25k keys ) rocks!!! as they give a way to gain lucky and unlocky points provided that you really want to buy these over normal keys.
Nagatives
What I may not like is that they juiced up their attribute levels that seem too unnatural where they'll actually have several attributes at 16 or above. Sort of wished they gave them a secondary profession or give a random skillbar(entire or partial) but this is for only nonboss mobs as it'll be hell for skill hunters if this was implemented for the bosses too.You know those mobs in higher level areas seems to be the same. They also could have just added "Inscribable" versions of the weapons in hard mode for Tyria and Cantha to not cause such a price drop for certain skins.

Liberations
1) I think the changes are great. They may have some little things that need to be weeded out but overall they're pretty cool. The only problem I have with the game as it is would have to be the decreasing amount of hype about the game through advertising and the developers to the players. I mean they said the Celestial Tournament was the biggest tournament yet, so why didn't it feel like it? HA is great but ArenaNet doesn't do anything that would draw people to it. I'm not talking about new features, what I'm talking about is the hype they generate for it. The game would do so much better if they made themselves and their features heard more.
Also, I could fall under 3 because GW is just a game, GW 2 will be even better, and I still have tons of other things to besides play Guild Wars.

IlikeGW
I guess I'm in the third category. Farming nerfs don't bother me that much. Hard Mode is alright, but after initial burst of players it has barely any. Sometimes I'll try to do something in it anyway.
I think what Guild Wars could use, if you ask me, is another couple shots in the arm for casual players. DoA - not casual. Hard Mode - not casual. Latest PVP types - not casual.
Some more quest lines ala Sorrow's Furnace, or more PVP ala Fort Aspenwood, would be more incentive to play for a lot of people than any of the latest updates have been.

For me? Both 1 and 3.
I definately love the changes. Hard mode is awesome; I don't see how people hate it so much. It gives a new challenge to the people who were getting bored with just maxing titles. Prices for items have dropped to the point where people without mountains of money can buy items, yet you can still make a profit.
However, if A.net was suddenly to put out a bad update, I'd still play, just not so much. It's not like GW is the only game I have.

Hate loot scaleing - Hate SR Nerf - Hate Chest Run Nerf - Severely dislike HM because drops for me are aweful.

3... i'm kinda at at the not caring point... it's hard for me to get motivated when I know there is a GW2 coming around in a year or two.. yeah the titles care over and what not.. but I'll probably want to start fresh anyway.
mazey vorstagg
3 for now. I'll keep playing 'til GWEN. Hopefully then I'll fit in group 1 unless Spore steals my attention!!
ZOMG SPORE!
ZOMG SPORE!
Ahrims Assassin
Mix of 2 and 1, I completely hate the changes, but I'm too addicted to quit over.
And despite what they say, I'm sure that this affected just playing with henchies and heroes too. My drops have been crap and even that crap has been rare.
