Our GW Characters Fates Sealed.

I’ve seen plenty of games that have a death sequence or pre-warn you ahead of time “this is it, no turning back.” Then after which you complete the final “showdown,” you go back to where you were before that critical point, but they still have labeled that you have accomplished that final mission. So your still alive but that mission just means the turning point of your character and that’s about it; you can still do stuff after you completed the game.

that may be true, but my point was that they wouldnt do it in such a way that your character was permanently dead like alot of people in this thread are speculating.

So what you’re saying is that we get to see our ghost again in the mists or play our characters reborn like the new version of "Link" in “The Legend of Zelda.” You kind of have a point there in some respects.

well i think it will just be your character lives on in the past in their time while gw2 will be you playing in the new age. anet did say they wouldnt shut down gw when gw2 went live, so it would be like having 2 ages being open for play at the same time, letting them still make money from the original. they could start selling the whole series at a budget price.

Yeah but story wise your character can make it to be over 250 years old in GW 2? I am not talking about the servers being shut down or any part of the physical entity of the game.

ok so far in this thread some people hav been speculating that at the end of gwen your character will die and then no longer be playable, and that then youd have to play GW2 to play the persons ancestor.

What I am saying is that having the ancestor die in 1 willmake no sense because 1 youd no longer be able to play that character, and since its a long while till GW2 some people may quit if they cant play. 2 if your character dies, how do they have an ancestor?

Since this being an MMORPG, having an ultimate ending where it renders your character unplayable would be unconventional. So I don't think ANet will release a hidden chapter after GW:EN that will ultimately shutdown the servers or something like that. Besides, when GW2 comes out, I bet there will still be people populating the GW1 servers.

Anyway, to answer the OP, I'd imagine my warrior dying in a heated battle something akin to 300 during the last part. As for my ranger, I'd imagine him retiring and settling in some forest as a recluse. Occasionally taking students to teach them the way of the land, the forest, the beasts and of the ranger. My monk would be settling in a monastary, teaching students day to day and occasionally lend her skills to the king for border skirmishes and the like. And for them to die peacefully of old age. Well, thats what I'd like to imagine anyway.

Okay I think I get what you’re saying, in some sense. There are other people here (not me of course) who believe that once you beat EotN you die and never come back. So you can’t go back to the other campaigns in which you can complete them.

For one, i totally hope they DON'T kill off any of my characters, as i fully intend to carry on playing them for titles and achievements even after GW2 has released and their grand children are vanquishing the evil 250 years in the future with Ray guns

(ray guns being complete speculation and mild sarcasm)

Nah, I doubt they will kill off our character. Because people have to be able to play gw long after they finish GW:EN. My guess is when we kill the last boss in GW:EN, there will be an ending like in those '80 movies. Y'know when they told us what happen to all of the casts.

Eg: Koss married Meloni and have 2 kids, they're now living in the southern part of Istan.

Mhenlo finally came out of the closet and is now awaiting a sex change op.

Zhed has found a new career in racing, he's now know as Seabiscuit.

And the sound track to the ending will be "Don't you forget about me"

Hmm... my ranger would probably get pregnant and pop out a few kids (descendants ftw ) Then her pet Spid would finally crack and go on a rampage killing her and half of whatever town she resided in - Ofcourse the kiddies escaped his wrath though and put him in a little monument to their mum lol

GW 2 is a NEW game, I find it pretty obvious that everyone starts over.

If it had not been an online game I would have seen the point in being able to import your char but as this is an online game it's not fair to be able to do that.

If people are going emo over losing their e-peens I can only say it's pretty sad.

Mwahaha.... Here goes.

The Hyun family, having rampaged in various forms with their armies of cloned Oliases, Sousukes, etc... would finally return to Cantha. Being so awesomely impressive to the Emperor, and having pretty much all been students of his former brother... he officially takes them on like family. Emperor and Cho Min (my monk) get real close and end up marrying and spawning offspring and whatnot...
The Emperor ends up dying of sickness and Cho Min's eldest son is technically next in line to the throne. In the meanwhile though, Chae Soon takes over as official advisor and is effectively in charge of all Cantha.... with his whole family then getting all the high-up ministerial positions.
His first act is the "Hug a Luxon" campaign... where he encourages all the Kurzicks nobles to go out and redeem their feral Luxon pirate cousins by actually showing them kindness... and bringing them back into the fold.
War in Cantha essentially stops.... for the time being...


The Ghosts (Cot Death and Hyksos) meanwhile would return to Ascalon. The whole place was kinda wrecked, but they help the other Ascalonian heroes rebuild it. Somewhere along the line, King Beer-Belly died fighting charr, and with the report that Prince Nubrik Jenkins was also dead at the hand of the stone summit, the royalist loyalists went looking for the next FDS-wielding Wammo in line to the throne. Having learnt just how annoying mending, FDS-wielding wammos are... the Ascalonian people who weren't royalist loyalists started fighting against those who did promote it.
Of course... while all this is going on.... Cot Death finds the body of the king... and decides to pull a Lich. She resurrects him, does him up nice and decent to look a bit more alive... then puppets him staggering back to Ascalon City. She makes it look like he isn't quite dead yet but still dying.... and declares Hyksos... as a Legendary Defender of Ascalon.... to be the head of a new ruling council for Ascalon.... chaired only by other LDoAs... then he dies.... sort of...
Thus Ghost of the Hyksos, with others, start the re-unification and rebuilding of Ascalon for real... with Cot Death helping behind the scenes.


Now.... some while after all this happens.... the Hyun Family and the Ghosts meet up on several occasions and plot amongst themselves the gradual "unification" of the whole world....
And so the "passive war" begins... with them gradually sending loyal representatives out to "help" the other plighted nations who they assisted during the war on Abaddon.... and accepting the help, it isn't difficult for the alliance to get into seats of power in all nations and gradually take them over absolutely....

Of course, though they're fairly benevolant (in an "occasionally going out and killing stuff" sort of way).... the people start to object after a while. This forces the Hyun family in particular to start enforcing a big brother rule... to stop the people being unhappy by eradicating the notion of unhappiness from both their language and their lives. PvP becomes strictly forbidden... and anyone caught trying to fight anyone else mysteriously vanishes for a while and comes back totally obedient.


Time passes. Individual characters die of old age and have statues build in their memory.... but their offspring lives on.
The Hyun / Ghost alliance still controls the entire world.... and people have all become obedient, somewhat mindless followers (not difficult since most of them were brain-dead in the first place...
Now and again there are a few rebellious sorts... but they never seem to amount to much.

... And down in her lair... where she has installed a personal Res Shrine for every time some moron decided to come in and kill her... Glint prophecises the new age.... when the alliance will be overthrown.... and the "LFG", "Fck u n00b!" and "LOL!!1!" hoardes will return to the world.... and the people will think they'll be doing the right thing but essentially will just be fvcking themselves over.....

I like the idea of 'choosing a death', although myself I'd choose old age as I want to make my char look like she can withstand anything but old age (which in fact is what she is ).

In GW2 I can very much see an apparation by our long-dead chars (which btw a quick jump to GW1 is as good as a time machine ) to our newbies and the make yet another prophecy about some old freak that wants to conquer the world. You, being a simpleton, are at a loss and start pondering what profession you're gonna take (i know we set the profession earlier but whatever...). Then you go and seek the profession-chief, tell him the prophecy and the usual get-a-secondary-profession routine will go about (if they will have secondaries, that is). Then you go out in the big outdoors and start your grind to level 1000 (jk).

I think it would be interesting if the spirits of our GW1 characters live on, and occasionally appear to our GW2 characters (their descendants) to offer sagely wisdom in difficult times, a bit like the heroes of Cantha in Tahnnakai Temple. Though I can easily see my current and future Mesmer talking too much about fashion and the arts to actually get some adventuring done.

heh firey explosions and death raining from above, sounds nice for a death scene, but I always hated endings where the main characters died, Blake's 7 comes to mind, or even Twin Peaks, though that wasn't quite death.
To be honest I would like to know what could kill off heroe's that managed to kill a god, other than old age.
Also, even though there are no planned expansion for GW, I would like to see one maybe a year after the release of GW:EN, and hopefully that would further the storyline rathere than be limited in having to come in the timeframe of what has already been.

gwen will be like any other chapter, you play and you finish it, then you do what you like, and that's it.
