Make Wisdom and Treasure Hunter titles account based
MagmaRed
Currently, the Lucky and Unlucky titles are account based. Lucky offers a bonus to using lockpicks. Treasure Hunter and Wisdom offer nice bonuses, but are character based. Since I have a Monk with rank 3 Wisdom, I send all my loot to be salvaged into storage and use my Monk to salvage it. This is an inconvenience and a major hassle.
My suggestion is to increase the requirements for the titles, but make them account based. Currently, 100 high end chests will grant you lvl 1 of Treasure Hunter. Since you can have 8 characters on an account (without buying extra slots), increase the requirement to 500 chests. This is not so steep that people without 8 characters will be hurt badly, but high enough that people with 8 won't get the title instantly.
It also helps people who don't chest run or buy unIDed items. I never buy keys.... never. I find it to be a waste of money, so I only use keys and lockpicks that drop for me. I am not a Treasure Hunter title seeker, but my closest character to getting the title is 20 months old, has 6.2 million XP, and is at 99 chests.
I think the benefits of these titles are used for an account, not a character. Changing the requirement could be done retroactively, so people with the title already in place might be set back a little. Person who has rank 3 of title, but just got it, and no other characters with any points in title would have less than needed for the rank. Yes, this would make people mad, but since the benefit would be account wide, I think they would eventually see it helps, and the small work needed to recoop their loss would be worth it.

I don't agree with upping the amount of chests for the title. Just making it account based I agree with. Increasing it from 100 to 500 would that suggest increasing the top lvl from 10000 to 50000? Acquiring 10000 on an account alone is quite the ordeal and time consuming. I have run a fair number of chests on my warrior (including b4 titles) and have probably ran 5000-6000 chests so i know how long and time consuming it would be to get 10000. The title was already more time/possibly gold consuming then most titles.

As I will always say that say anything that can be made in PvP areas an in outpost should be account based:
Wisdom, Drunkard and Sweet tooth are the ones that fit in that.

There's one problem with increasing the requirements.
You're forgetting there are many players who don't use many characters, they play only one character or simply focus on one.
Making the titles account-wide won't affect them much, but increasing the requirements will really hurt them.
I agree they should be Account-Wide, as they REALLY consume time and money, enough to join the Lucky\Unlucky titles.
As for a way to make up for it... i guess not, maybe just a little.

As for changing the requirements, Frozy gives a reason why thats a bad idea. As long as the titles are merged by adding up between characters, I don't care if the requirements are changed or not.
Evilsod
Do you have any idea how long it takes to get these titles as it is? Upping the max is completely out of the question.
They really should've been made account based in the first place... all you do is move all unids onto 1 character atm whenver you find them and you basically have to use 1 character whenever possible if there will be chests around.

I expected people to agree with the idea, but didn't expect there to be ANYONE wanting no increase. I figured the increase would be seen as needed for balance. I personally would prefer there to be no increase, but can see why it might unbalance what is set right now. My increase was by no means a calculated number, just a rough guess.
I would love to see this happen, as my Wisdom title would get used by other characters. I would not mind a bump in the requirements, but would be very happy if none were added.

I've always agreed with making these titles account based. They are ridiculous to max them, and since Nightfall they have actually had a use. I also hate the idea of having to identify and chest run on one character because my main is a necro, and they aren't very good at chest running (although any/A can chest run. It just isn't as effective.)
MercenaryKnight
Yes I really hope arena net does this. I wouldn't mind if they increased requirements a tad bit. But I have identified golds on many different chars and the lucky/ unlucky titles are account based, so I think these should be too.

These are the most annoying titles that i want, simply because firstly they are doable, but at huge time and monetary costs, and secondaly they actually offere a benifit to gameplay now, making them even more desirable to a title chaser like me.
Like many of you I have my main character Calisto chasing all the titles, so she has both of these at the moment inbetween level 2 and 3, while my other 9 characters have very little,
My overall aim is to get as many titles on my charcters, but primarily on Calisto, pre factions without survivor, and my ritualist with survivor.
As these titles are set up now I can't aim for them on both these charcters, let alone the other 8.
Therefore i love this idea,

Don't like the increse in any way of the requirement though as that makes it even harder and its hard enough now.
I understand why these aren't account based, but with their inclusion in lockpicking and salvage their is a good argument to make them account based now

Dedicated chestrunners (like me) would absolutely hate having to grind more and more again to reach the same level they had. so /notsigned to taking away achievements and bonuses already earned.
Making the title account-wide would cheapen the lower levels of the title, but wouldn't hurt those who opened only on one character. It would be an extra bonus for those who did it on multiple chars, they paid for the keys and spend the same time so they deserve the title just aswell.
Making the title account-wide also doesn't make the max level easier to get at all. Anybody who was going for the title did it mostly on one char, so the extra few or even few hundreds (about 150 on other chars in my case) won't really matter.
And wisdom title... this has one more reason to be account wide, it's the annoying need of relogging and transfering golds to the wisdom char to id them not to have the ids wasted. Making it account-wide wouldn't hurt neither the title nor anybody who worked for it, no real change except for extra convenience.
The only real change making those both titles would make would be their effect on Kind of the Big Deal track, but it would be a good change, because, in the first place, the KaoBD *should be account-based* aswell! (count all unique maxed titles on the account)

It would encourage people to actually play more than one character, because opening chests wouldn´t seem as such a waste with "secondary" characters :-)

i'll /sign for account based but what if...instead of increasing the amount of chests you need per rank, they just added more ranks?
That sounds like a better solution to me...

The only negative side effect I see to making it account based, is the way those titles effect drops and salvaging chances.
Making it account based, would obviously make it a much easier title to achieve. The result would then be alot more players with the title at high levels or maxed out.
Then that results in people with higher % chances of better drops and higher % of salvaging good stuff!
I think it would actually incourage farming, which isnt a great thing.
How-ever I wouldnt mind it being made account based.

The Wisdom title has been very annoying for a long time. Every single person I know, including myself, identifies all rares with a single character. It's silly and inconvenient to not have it account-wide.
Treasure hunter used to be kind of OK. I have one character working on that title, and all my others still opened chests whenever they could, just to score rares for the Wisdom title. Now, with hard mode and lockpicks, I'm inclined to NOT open chests anymore except with my Treasure Hunter. It's just not advantageous anymore to open chests with just any character.
Switch these titles to account wide and all will be well.

The thing is.
Most people identifies all th gold items with the same character to 'concentrate' the title points.
That's annoying. A bother, unnecessary.
For treasure I would do that, add one rank and make it account wide, an extra +3% would allow up to 95% salvage instead of 92%. We do like round number, don't we?
For wisdom I would simply make it account wide, with no more ranks, we already identify all gold ones items with the same character.

I would love it to be account wide with no increase in requirements, but c'mon - get serious. This is really just a big wet kiss for everyone by making the final titles a lot easer to achieve with an instant boost in achievement with no additional effort. What is the upside to Anet, who want to keep the game playable for as long as possible, to making the grinding endgame easier to max?
The original recommended solution was much more realistic, however, as dedicated chest runners have pointed out, this is absolutely unfair to them.
I hate to say it, but unless I hear a better idea, I have to conclude we're stuck with the current system.
Anet should have made Wisdom/Treasure Hunting account based in the beginning. Since they didn't, it's not really fair to change it now.
