Not really playing anything much at the moment. I'll still get GWEN, if only so I can transfer titles etc to GW2 when it comes out (if it’s any good).
GW just doesn't hold my interest anymore after 2 years of playing. IMHO everything ANet has done since prophecies just hasn't been anywhere near as good, and it kind of bugs me that the community is still asking for the same things it was at day of release.

Uh, nowhere? I'm still very happy with GW, though I play WoW as well. Plus whatever game I feel like at the time--it's not like GW is supposed to be a twenty-four hour a day commitment like many other games. If you're bored, give it a rest for a while. Come back later. Quitting or moving or whatever completely baffles me.

I don't plan on quiting GW, but I do intend on playing less, so I can buy oblivion (Or rebuy Morrowing, as I greatly regret no putting it my new computer), and play a bit more CSS, and I always have my DS ready for some fun.
Big_Iron
I was always a FPS gamer until GW came along. So, I've recently dusted off UT and started playing that again some. I'm eagerly awaiting HalfLife 2 Ep2 with Team Fortress 2 and UT 2007 will probably take over my life when it comes out.
I may give Tabula Rasa and Hellgate: London a whirl and the clips I've seen of Aion look interesting, but as I said, I've never gotten into any other MMO other than GW. I've tried others, including WoW, but they haven't been able to hold my attention.

With Summer upon us this is usually my time to take a break from any gaming and enjoy the outdoors and real life. We go camping quite a bit in the summer so I'll be doing that.
I am also going to be a daddy come this October so may gaming days are numbered (if my wife has anything to say about it).
But If I do get to game here is what I will probably try.
GW:EN for sure. I still love Guild Wars and won't be moving to WoW
Bioshock- This game looks simply amazing for the PC. Can't wait to try my hand at taking down those Big Daddies.
Half Life 2- Ya I know know I am really late to the show but I just kept putting of buying it and since its so cheap now....
Guild Wars 2- Yay! Personally I cannot wait till this comes out. I will be checking in for any new info that comes out about this game.

I can't wait the 2 years for GW2 to come out. So after I finish what I have planned for with GW:EN, I'm moving out.
I'll stop in occassionally to say hello. More so right after leaving than later. It'll be hard to not hop onto GWG and launch up GW every night to relax after a hard days work.
I think I'm going to move onto some single-player games for a bit. Some RPGs where I can really do something with my character. I'm kind of looking at Dungeon Siege 2 and Neverwinter Nights 2. The first versions of both held my attention for quite some time, and I've really been meaning to try these ones out as well.
Other than that, the only other game I've even considered was LotRO. And thats only because some of what my brother showed me kind of intrigues me. I'll have to look into the game more.

M'Aiq The Liar
Right now, I'm back to playing Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. Also gave Neverwinter Nights a try recently and that game's got me hooked. When it comes to MMOs, I don't know what I'm gonna do. I'll give GW:EN and GW2 a look, of course, but the current farmless, PUGless PvE and cheesefest meta for PvP isn't gonna keep me hooked to a game.

Waiting for fury, probably going to buy another game in between seeing as I don't have a job this summer and GW gets very boring (logged on for 5 minutes today).
I'll probably give GW:EN and GW2 a look, but not sure if I'll buy them.
GW simply doesn't interest me anymore at the moment, seeing as my best mates have quit playing or only come on occasionally. Besides that, GvG frustrates me because it takes so much to get setup (with this I mean; I need to organize it up front, I can't just hop on and go)

Play zombie mod (ZM) especially lila_panic, or try surfing. Theres really no shortage of fun things to do it just gets old dealing with servers that seldom have mods to take care of the idiots.

I'm not going anywhere. GW is nice for some casual playing every now and then, so playing it every time I have a few extra hours keeps me interested in it longer. I'm looking forward to GWEN and GW2 as well.
When not playing GW, there's real life and a mountain of ps2 games keeping me occupied.

Going?...I just got here.
There's a problem that's been inherit in video games since "Pong". As new games come out and interest in older games wanes, newcomers to older titles are left with a fanbase that's become a ghost town.
The fact is, GW is still a great game. It always will be. Of course if you've been playing for two years, it's easy to see how it would become boring.
It's fascinating to see how interest in old games is reawakened through nostalgia. Take Pac Man for instance. It may not be as popular as it once was, but people still play it. It's still a fun game, but if you play it over and over again for years it becomes tedious. Give it a rest for awhile and in time, it will be fun again. I still fire up "Alice" from time to time, because it's really a truly brilliant game).
Of course the problem with GW is that there will come the time when you can't actually go back to it. Since all the software is on Anet's servers, the game will be gone once they decide it's just not worth it anymore. It won't be like Pac Man, or Zelda where you can go back and relive the good times.
Yup, I'm defintiely going to stick around for a bit. It's the best game I've played for some time and there is much to see and do.
.....I just hope there'll still be a few people to play the game with.

Moa Bird Cultist
I just bought Stella Deus for the ps2. It makes GW's voice acting seem Oscar-worthy by comparison... (If you thought The Seer and Shiro were bad...)
Judging by my hours played on games in general and the fact GW still takes up >95% of my free time, I'd say I'm not going anywhere soon. Of course, I have less free time these days with work, but my obsession has not faded one bit. On the contrary, I'm playing the game far more actively than I was this time last year thanks to a bit of friendly rivalry I've got going on. Protector of Cantha will be mine tonight!!!
Edit: I've been playing for 2 years and don't find it boring. Am I weird or something? Or just easy to please...

Red-Tide
I will be leaving soon if all the nerfing continues, this game is quickly losing interest for me.
As for what I will be playing in the future.
Call Of Duty 4 will probably be my next video game addiction.
Possibly Hellgate London
I dont know if I will go the mmorpg route after my experience with GW. GW is the first mmorpg I was really involved in and while it was awesome at first (been here since release in 05), lately my desire to continue playing is dwindling due to Anet's forced changes to the way we play.

Blame the Monks
No game has really jumped out at me (wow sucks, fury is raw, warhammer is far off), so I have been playing a lot of old games (d2, snes, etc).
And call me crazy, even given the crap that anet has pulled for the last year, but after investing 2 years in this game I still want to hang around in case anet shocks us all by fixing the game.
If not, I'll most likely be playing warhammer and SC2.

Mystic Cobra
Guild Wars was fun for me until loot scaling killed alot of my interest in that game. The reason why i still play is a bit of farming(that is gay whit loot scaling) and doing some things whit friends.I will buy GW:EN but i already know they will still nerf alot of things and nerf those new farm build.Another thing that doesn't want me to still play Guild Wars is that crappy trading system...you can spam 1 week non-stop WTS................WTB...........WTS........WTB and all they do is to temp-ban account that spam in local chat.ANYTHING would be better then that trade system.I'm waiting that update today whit the new SS PvE only skills and they better be useful.

Studying for upcoming PSAT, practicing basketball (gotta give spurs their dued respect for championship) and mostly other RL stuff. If GW is not fixed im gonna stop online gaming, its too time consuming and too unrewarding really, you always have to feel like your doing a job instead of having fun. If Gw pvp isnt fixed im gonna leave though, ive already given up on pve a long time ago. PvP failure= me leaving, and quite frankly anet is running out of time.
Toll Booth Willie
I am currently playing LotRO, but hoping to get into a WAR or AoC beta.
Chances are I will be playing one of the above three for a while.
For the 360 i'm looking forward to mass effect, halo 3, and gta4 which all come out over the next 5 months.
(btw whats up with SC2 hype here, are there a lot of koreans on the boards? The graphics look outdated for sure and the game industry has moved on.)

Each time it is different - the veterans are quietly leaving, guilds are abandoned, PvP is dead, etc. But, there are too many that - like both you and me - are spoiled by GW. The no grind, no permanent death penalty, and the ability to shift builds all the time were just too good.
It's not so much that people are quietly leaving as there are other new shiny toys to play with. GW is in a mature stage in it's life cycle and people like it enough to stick around. The ones quietly "leaving" are doing something else along with GW (which means it doesn't get near the time it used too) and the vast majority of the whiners stay around and wait for every opportunity they can to whine.
Of course, I suppose this could be the real one - the one where GW dies. But you will note that all of the "leavers" (quiet or vocal ones) are quite up to date on what is coming out and when. In other words they either like the game enough to keep playing or they are masochist who have found their source of pain. If you really do not like the game you definitely do not keep up with the goings on in it and the vast majority just leave, you may get one or two posts before the end.

By the time GW2 is released, hopefully I will have found a better MMO then this inconsistent solo-unfriendly BS game. Ive tried DDO but its too short and the gameplay is too slow. I dont think starting WoW from the start this late is going to be too good either. IMO Izzy + Gaile need a good sacking for ruining this great game. |
Funcom has never done me wrong... their game was just too unpopulated.
Oh, and as far as the subscription fee for Conan:
Yes, there is one.
But it seems you don't have to pay it UNLESS you want to play past level 20 or 21. After that if you want to continue your character into the persistent world, you pay a monthly fee.
On another note, this really would be a great time for some game competitive with Guild Wars to try to jump in and take advantage of it's crumbling player-base. If another game were to release with a similar lack of subscription fees and MORE persistent world area than Guild Wars, I would jump right on it.

I enjoyed GW for about 18 months. Finished Prophecies and Factions.
Nightfall took the enjoyment away. I still haven't and probably never will
finish it. Some changes were also very disheartening.
I've been playing Everquest2 for 6 months now and have barely scratched
the surface of what there is to do and see.
*sure they complain over there about nerfs too* but the point is the
depth and the play style.
I can't see leaving there very soon.
I'll always have a fondness for GW and do visit occasionally.
But in the end the $15 a month I pay is worth the satisfaction I receive
from playing EQ2.
I'll probably get Eye of the North to see the end but honestly I am not sure

I shouldn't say don't, but should, because some of those gimmicks end up being so strong that they get run despite being horribly limited - that's responsible for junk like Steady Stance Warriors or Searing Flames, or Assassins in general. Then there are concepts that are just broken, like piles of stacking passive defense, or spirit forests. Those simply shouldn't exist but they do, and they represent failures all throughout the system - starting with the design team for concepting such limited skills so frequently, to the aftermarket support where they're allowed to dominate and stagnate for month after month.
If you take away the dumb gimmicks, you're left with a small set of similar looking characters, simply because the skillset conductive to interesting gameplay is so small. When the game is at its best, the skills are just tools, not the determinant themselves, tools that let you make plays that ultimately win the game. While every skill does something, there are only a handful that let the player make a variety of plays that can ultimately win you a match. Taking a second pass, there are only so many tools that deal with common game situations, and that limited skillset pushes you into an increasingly limited skillset.
(Quick examples. In the current climate every team needs a party heal to clean up damage in a big fight, and you can't split that off anymore [ala E/Mo Partybots] without being punished. How many options are there for that? There are enough strong condition-stacking plays that you need some sort of solution to those, so RC is neccessary if you don't want a bunch of lingering cripples and deep wounds wrecking your team. You need reliable snares if you don't want to be run around on forever - and ones that work even when your opponent has Mending Touch. You need some way to deal with enchantments, including Aegis and targeted prot. You really want some way to interrupt. Then there's the whole two melee thing that would take an entire article to explain.)
At least if everyone were running the few robust templates that there were, the game would be more about dynamic tactics. But that's fairly rare, due largely to the number of really strong gimmicks. In those games the tactics are set, because their build can't adapt. Instead, you have a game of "can you pick through the zergway team before they land a DChop on something important" or "can you stall Recall gank for 20 minutes until they lose at VoD?" It's very rare that a team asks you a new question after the game has started. For the most part, they show you some overpowered gimmick, ask if you can beat it, and go home if you can.
I still play for the good games, against the good teams who do at least try and execute. Those are still amazing and blow everything else out there out of the water. But most nights are spent waiting for matches against teams that don't want to be any good and are just looking for a quick win, or if it's an automated tournament, waiting quasi-AFK while collecting resign wins. Is that the vibrant PvP future that Arena.net envisioned?
Peace,
-CxE

I've been bouncing between WoW and GW very recently. It used to be CoH/V but I got bored with it. A couple of DS games have also took away my attention. When GWEN is released, I should probably be back into GW with full force. Unless they manage to mess it up, I'll just move on to something else until GW2's beta test.
This reminds me of the time between Prophecies and Factions. That was a very dead time to be playing GW if you started in the first few months of release.

Until that happens I log in to GvG because I really enjoy playing with the guys I play with no matter how lame GvG has become for countless reasons.
I have dusted off several of the old RPGs that I use to stay up all night playing just to find out how they made me do that.
Fallout 1/2 - Planetscape Torment - D2 - etc. OMG how did we ever play those games I still remember loving them but have no idea why.
Morrowind - Arcanum oddly enough still have some fun replayabilty but can't make me stay up all night anymore.
It's a shame that in 4 or 5 years we won't be able to reload GWs back to what it was 2 years ago and still have a fun game to play.

Anet has dug a hole so deep for themselves that their literally trying to "dig" their way out. They dont see that have the heads shoved so far up their asses that they couldnt tell the difference between shit and ice cream.
As for me, i quit for more than 2-3 months now. Playing good'ol cs1.6. Just came back to see if i can still get in contact w/ one of my buddies only to see that the whole guild has quit and left for better. The soul-reaping, armor-capping, loot-scaling, para/rit/sin/derv catastrophe, and pvp overshadowing pve really just tipped it over the edge. I wont be playing this game anymore, nor will i buy GWEN, nor will i invest in something called GW2 which looks like another drag-the-sucker in game and screw up the meta game over & over just like they did to its predecessor.
I dont know if the devs are trying to push us away so that they can sucker in newer/younger players to pay for their earlier games or they're trying to make up for lost revenue. Either way, the first year of GW was fun and the people were great. But like everything great, either the root of greatness spoils itself or it suffers an early death.
