GW is a game, and its objective is to provide players entertainment. However, different players derive entertainment in different ways. Some prefer PvE missions, while other prefer PVP or resource-gathering. Regardless of what players prefer, ANET should not punish any one group for their play style preference so long as they stay within the EULA. ANET can add additional incentives and rewards to those who follow their "ideal" player mold, but why should they take away anything from any one group for using the product they've already purchased?

It's times like these that I wonder if ANET's developers are deliberately trying to sabotage their flagship title... AMEN! agin i agree with u. I consider myself a casual player, i enjoy grouping with my guildies, however i do also enjoy farming but when the lootscale was introduced 1 if not both my interests, were hurt. Beacuse as Shar said instead of rewarding grouping they punished solo farming, even after they explained 2 the community, that they had nothing aginst farming. By turning lootscaling into a reward for the groups, and reversing the dmg done 2 solo farming this will be a boon to everyone, Making it possible 2 anybody to enjoy their type of play, without hurting the playform for the other players. And maybe then will we be able 2 focus on this games real enemy the bots.

This is what I don't understand. People like to do different things. Why should one thing be more rewarding than another thing if both are done for fun?

Player A enjoys playing with 8 person teams, so he does.
Player B enjoys killing things by himself, so he does.

It is not like killing things by yourself is any more challenging, if anything its easier. So my question.....Why should Player B get atleast 8x as much gold as Player A for doing something he enjoys? They both enjoy what they do, but one is so rich he can't spend it all, and the other can barely afford armor and skills.

The loot scaling helps make it equal for both of these players. What now needs to be done is just a global increase of drops. Such as increase both 8 person drops and 1 person drops to 200% of what they are now. This makes playing the game profitable, while also keeping play styles equal.

This would cause some of the items to over inflate again, such as some runes, but everyone would have more gold, even the people who enjoy playing with teams of 8. The people who didn't like solo farming as such, but do it for more gold, should be happy about this because there would be no reason to solo farm anymore. People who play in teams of 8 will enjoy more drops. People who enjoy solo farming can still solo farm, and still make as much gold as other people.

Everyone wins, everyone gets equal gold, and everyone gets more gold.

Probably doesn't make sense, I'm tired. I was farmin a lot before loot scale. Farming is not enjoyable for god sake. And getting bored is the payment of 8x drops. Getting 1/8 of the drops means before loot scaling means as fow armor taked 1 month now 8month. AND I MEAN IT; HARD MODE SOLO GIVES NOT EVEN HALF OF THE OLD SOLO.

A different solution to the loot amount a solo player gains is by making a 8 man party gain 8 drops per creature all for a different player this would offcourse cause massive farming pugs but I prefer them over bots. This way the casual player gets his drops faster then any farmer hence its a 8 man team and the casual farmer can still make a living.

But I dont see this theory ever getting used by anet, they prefer reducing instead of increasing.

persnally ide like to see a whole plethora of new skinned weapons and armors and what have you in gw:en and namely....just to avoid the need for useless mindless grinding for said items...no loot scale..let everyones hall of monuments be pimped out with glowy blades of uber pwnage or somethin like that. i really do expect some high end stuff outta gw:en with the intrduction to all sorts of new races and new lands....youde kinda figure that interaction with another culture thats been secluded for god knows how long.

so help me if i kill a charr and i see a friggin crappy ass brute sword drop im going to go friggin nuts.

One small issue....

...loot scalling is part of propherices, factions and nightfall. So they cant just not include it in the expansion.

How would it make sense to have loot scaling in all 3 games, but not the expansion?

Every farmer ingame would rush into the expansion and lag it to high heaven.

They are bound to include it, so this is kind of a void thread. That is unless you want to ask for loot scaling to be removed completely from the entire game.

But I dont mind loot scaling. Id rather that then farming code!

so not signed at all.

And just because YOU hate farming why should this be effectively removed from the game in NM?
Some people don't like the factions campaign very much, with your logic maybe this campaign should be removed from the game.

1 reason why this entire discussion fails: Bots don't buy. They steal. They steal the accounts from the very people they sell the gold to, via keyloggers etc. So lootscaling in GWEN being removed for the OP's reasons is not a practical reason. Lootscaling being removed because it makes solo farming inefficient and pointless would be a decent reason... if it were true.

Just under 2 Years ago, Anet introduced the scatter on aoe AI. Back then, 4 hours farming for a casual player trying to raise cash for say, a piece of 15k armor would have meant 2 or 3 decent runs, followed by 3 hours of garbage drops, because being casual, they could only farm one or 2 areas. Fast forward to today and you'll find that because there's no drop fatigue, solo farming is actually more profitable. Even over a single hour, it's better. All the junk golds you get now, they have a gold value themselves and you can profit by merchanting anything that isn't perfect/shiny/sparkly. Because, honestly, who merchants shiny and sparkly stuff?*

I know I've said it a hundred times, but I've honestly been able to make money much faster since lootscaling was introduced. On top of that, Superior Vigor isn't completely out of the question anymore, neither are superior monk runes, bloodstained insignias, etc.

Theres one more thing I want to share. A Lot of casual players think they should be able to have it all without having to put any effort in themselves. That's not casual, it's just plain lazy. A guildmate of mine is casual. He has countless sets of 15k armor, is a W/Mo and refuses to take Mending off his skillbar. But he obviously had the common sense to spend wisely in order to get all that 15k.

As a monk class hater (i hate monks that I don't ever want to be one, everyone else can be one then yay!) I find it hard to be a farmer because the most profitable farming builds are of course the 55/105 whatever5 builds.

If anything you should be rewarded for going out alone >.> it shows how much skill you have, and shouldn't skill be rewarded?

I'm going to be honest. guild wars is the LAGGIEST game I have ever played. I mean the lag is really UNBELIEVABLE. This is why i go to districts with the fewest people (which is usually the last district on the list) for less lag. I get lag when just with a group of people in an instance! So many times I have to go solo or with heroes/whatever just so the lag doesn't kill me! The lag is bearable at that point. I should make a "Guild wars is so laggy" thread... infact I think I will

*Fools. Only fools. What you meant to say is that you've made money since Hard Mode was introduced. It is common to make this mistake since they were introduced at the same time.

It is simply impossible to be making more money purely because loot scaling has been implemented!
