55 Necro HM farms! (lots of pictures)
Fuzzy Taco
For proph only chars, you can go with Orison, Vig Spirit, or really whatever you like in Spirit bond's place. EDIT:Shielding Hands is another great skill.
as far as gates of kryta goes, it's easily farmed with 105hp, SoA, Shilding Hands, and Spirit Bond + IP to manage degen.

15AL means that the armor has an armor level of 15, as opposed to the 60+ armor that most end game armor has.

For additional information, having a low armour value means you will take more damage (before PS) meaning Spirit Bond will trigger more often, thus healing you as much as possible.
If people are having difficulty in particular areas, I would definitely suggest getting the +20% enchantment duration items -- it made all the difference when dealing with hard-to-defeat bosses and other large mobs throughout the game (coming from Prophecies, the Totem Axe is easily farmed for).

Ok, so if i haven't skill like spirit bond, should i use same armor that 15AL or should i use max armor?
Fuzzy Taco
If you're not using spirit Bond, your armor level doesn't matter. If you plan on getting factions and, subsequently, Spirit Bond, i'd get 15AL armor. Besides, it's the cheapest!
babochabo
is it ok to use ss and ip because i only have proph...
Fuzzy Taco
with SS and IP (as opposed to SV and IP) you can't farm as many areas, i.e. ones with a lot of healing, like deldrimor bowl and kinya province. you can still farm a bunch of areas, including the desert farms.
stipe567
Ok, i succeed to kill all griffons and hydras in desert on hard mode, then i went to the UW(maybe its to fast, i know) but i wanted to try. When i get there i see it's fairly easy to stay alive but when i want to cast SS they always interrupt him i mean on aatxee. Any help to my problem? And what is better going on normal or hard mode because they lose health too slow on normal mode?
Fuzzy Taco
sometimes i wonder if people even read the guide....
your interrupting problem roots from the fact that you didn't draw out the aatxes' interrupts. you need to use your maintained enchantments (Mending, for example) and get THOSE interrupted instead of SS.
as far as Normal vs. Hard modes, it's your preference. NightMares are a pain in HM, but in NM you get less golds, and things generally die slower.
Quick note: i'm going to add a new UW build and tactics to the guide soon, as well as update the entire guide with a few more runs, because this thread continues to get bumped. if not today, it'll be tomorrow.

NEW UW/FoW BUILDS: SV in UW! Defile Flesh in FoW (thanks kcp!)
for reasons i do not understand, my Edit button is clearing the entirety of my first post, so i'll post the new builds here.
SV in UW! (Normal Mode only)
16 Blood
10 Prot
8 Healing
4 Soul reaping
Rest in Curses
[skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Healing Breeze[/skill][skill]Plague Touch[/skill][skill]Suffering[/skill][skill]Spoil Victor[/skill][skill]Essence Bond[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill][skill]Mending[/skill]
this build, as i've found, is easier to grasp than the SS build at the beginning of this guide. it can also kill a lot of enemies in the UW, making for a better farming experience. I'll go through a full (successful) run with this build, which, if you kill everything you can, can take upwards of an hour.
we'll start from your spawning in the UW. Throw on your maintained enchantments and get ready to wtfpwn some aatxes (pronounced: aah-tch.)
First off, look at your spawn: are the aatxes grouped together in a group of three, or are there two close together and one roaming around? if there's three packed together, there's a nightmare: to deal with DNs, just pull the aatxes and get behind Benton, our favorite spirit. he'll bodyblock the aatxes for you, while you can wand the nightmare to death after he rends you. after the nightmare is dead, reapply your maintained enchantments, put on PS, and pull an aatxe with Spoil Victor. an aatxe will die in one spoil victor, which is good for us.run around the labyrinth, checking for nightmares and pulling aatxes by hitting Prot Spirit, actually pulling them with SV, then hitting Healing Breeze when they're on the way in. draw out interrupts with Mending before casting Healing Breeze or Spoil Victor. once you've cleared all the aatxes, onto the Grasps!
take the Clear the Chamber quest, then target the nearest grasping group.hit PS, pull with SV, then hit Healing Breeze when they're inbound, same as aatxes. kill them all off with SV; you can draw out Distracting Blows by autoattacking, and if you get skullcracked remove it with plague touch. when it gets down to two Graspings, you won't need to expend energy on healing breeze. continue to clear the rest of the grasps, until you can move out of the chamber and onto the smites!
smites and the ice wastes in general are easy with this build. the only important thing is that you must constantly keep healing breeze up with groups of 4 or 5 smites... otherwise you'll be outdamaged and wind up back in ToA, Chantry, or Zin Ku. when you aggro up a group of smites, use Suffering, let them all waste their smite hexes, put SV on one, re-cover with suffering. when they've used all their smite hexes and SV has recharged, put SV on a new target, then re-cover with Suffering again. keep aplying SV on new targets and covering with suffering until the group is dead. Coldfires are also very easy; stay out of the maelstroms and they'll eat dirt.
Congratulations! your smite run is now over. now it's time to review other killable enemies, and how to take care of them.
Obsidian Behemoths and Charged Blacknesses
over in Twin Serpent Mountains, these guys are easy to take care of. first and most importantly: EQUIP A WAND! if you don't have a wand equipped, you won't be able to have 55 health, and the behemoths won't autoattack you.
most groups of behemoths can be blocked by putting a wall between them and yourself. if you can wallblock them, it's as simple as cycling SV on them until they die: it doesn't take much to overpower Healing Spring. Sometimes, however, it is impossible to wallblock a group of behemoths... very well then, let's tank em till they drop! Maintain only essence Bond and Balth's Spirit, and, with your wand equipped, tank them with PS and HB. SV will kill the group, just don't get spiked by the traps! Charged Blacknesses aren't hard at all - maintain Essence, Balth's and Mending and time for their shock, and they'll die at the hands of SV easily.
The dreaded 2 Grasping, 1 Nightmare group
depending on your spawn, it is sometimes necessary to kill this group before proceeding to the Clear the Chamber Terrorwebs (instructions on killing them below) or the Twin Serpent Mountains. these guys are taken down one way and one way alone: first off, make sure you have Essence, Balth's, and Mending up. now, target a Grasping, cast HEALING BREEZE, then pull with SV. your enchants will get rended and the nightmare will die. immediately cast PS, and kill the other grasping with SV when it recharges. ta-da! dead group.
The Clear the Chamber Terrorwebs
[obvious] these guys are the terrorwebs that spawn when you take the Clear the Chamber quest and kill the graspings. [/obvious] once you've cleared the initial groups of aatxes and grasps + nightmares, they'll be right there for your killing pleasure. get to full energy, cast PS, and pull with SV. Healing breeze, then evade the Meteor Showers. if you keep your enchants up and use SV when needed, they'll die quick. accept the Clear the Chamber reward, then take Restoring the Monuments of Grenth, and head back to the Ice wastes to kill the three terrorwebs waiting there.
Congrats again! your run is seriously over now. on to the FoW build!
the FoW build is pretty much exactly the same as the old one, with a change that makes everything easier:
16 Curses
10 Prot
8 Heal
5 Blood
Rest in SR
[skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Healing Breeze[/skill][skill]Spirit Bond[/skill][skill]Defile Flesh[/skill][skill]Insidious Parasite[/skill][skill]Spiteful Spirit[/skill][skill]Essence Bond[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill]
all thanks to kcp for suggesting this change, which i initially ignored before trying it out. the buff to WoH made farming the Shadow Army immensely difficult, but Defile Flesh, insidious Parasite, and 2 well-placed SS's will have no problem taking down a powerful Shadow Monk now. the tactics with this build are the same as the old one, but you need to be more liberal with your Spirit Bond spamming in this build, because you have no Mending to make you supermegauberleetinvincible.
alright, now that those are out of the way, on to more runs that don't need an entrance fee!
Yeti!
one run i have revisited after a long absence is the Mount Qinkai Yeti run - with chances at three greens and elite Ranger, Ritualist, and Monk tomes.
for this run, i use the UW SV solo build, but i replace plague touch with Spirit bond. the run is simple - exit out of Aspenwood gate (Luxon), turn left, and start killing yeti! they all die to SV pretty quickly. a few quick notes: when picking up drops from Yeti rangers or the ranger boss, be sure to have Spirit Bond up to catch the trap spike. also, DO NOT AUTOATTACK. they have Vengeful Weapon, which is a one-hit kill. also, you have Suffering in the build for the monk boss who uses withdraw hexes - Suffering, let him waste WH, SV, recover with suffering.
Shak Jarin... and more!
one run i'm going to officially add to the guide is Shak Jarin and his buddies in HM. there are screens of the run on page 2, and as you can see, i use the SV / IP build. after killing Shak Jarin, you can run into the Holdings of Chokhin and kill some more Harpies and more. NOTE: this run is exponentially hard - there are a lot of interrupts, a ton of degen, and a high attack volume. it takes some practice and, even then, some luck.
well, i hope you all enjoy this minor addition to the guide. keep on killing!
for reasons i do not understand, my Edit button is clearing the entirety of my first post, so i'll post the new builds here.

Hey Fuzz, be careful when editing the OP - i had the same problem with my Legendary Survivor thread...in the end my OP just disappeared!
The problem relates to the character limit of the message field in the database. It was revised recently (a couple of months?!?) to 2000 or so characters - if the original post exceeds that limit, it comes up blank when attempting to edit

OK - I changed my build just now. I replaced Mending with Defile Flesh and Vigerous Spirit with Spirit Bond. Went into FoW and actually killed the monks lol.
So thank you for this change! Just couldn't do it with SS+IP alone, really needed that Defile Flesh.

I tried out the build s and many of the locactions you listed. Thanks for this great guide It feels great being able to farm with your main char, which was my necro
Altho I do notice I get much less golden items then when I was farming outside of bergen hot springs with my 55 monk. Does that place have much better drops then the places I can farm with these 55 necro builds (haven't tried fow or uw yet) or is it just bad luck?

well, you can farm outside Bergen with a necro, too!
as far as drops go, i just assume it's luck, as ANet doesn't feel like telling us how drops work in this game. >.<

I've been running the SS build for ages now.
I tried it in FoW as you described but WoH seems to outheal my hexes.
Can anyone confirm if this still works or is it outdated due to the WoH buff?

Get Defile Flesh instead of Mending.

Realy? I found, with poison and such on me I came kinda short on the regen/healing part. Maybe I should try blood renewal for extra health regen?
Fuzzy Taco
regen and healing is no problem in bergen, so long as you have a secondary healing skill along the lines of Spirit bond, Vigorous Spirit, or Orison. hell, IP's healing alone should do it.
oresteez
wierd..is the guide gone? i don't see it..your first post is empty..

Yeah just apply all your maintained enchants, go right and tank/kill the skeleton rangers, and use spirit bond to help ease the mass damage
Awakener
Yeh, I can't see the guide =[

This was a terrific guide, but the first post seems to be lost. I took the liberty of locating a cached version here: http://web.archive.org/web/200710170...php?t=10175165
I hope you can retrieve it from there, Fuzzy Taco. I also saved the text, with image urls(no forum tags), attached. PM me if you need more data, but the text file should be enough to restore it.
edit: The .txt file is too large to attach. Attached as a .zip. Just rename the .zip to .txt to restore. Or, right-click, Open With-> Notepad, whatever.

I still have a hard time surviving it with my necro tho. Farming there with my monk that knocks back from SoJ is much easier there ...

Just wondering when will the post be updated? I am not rushing you Fuzzy Taco, but an update would be nice.

i'm completely overhauling the guide, which will be reposted ASAP. i'm putting a lot of effort into this, and it's going to be pretty big, so if you're patient, you shall be rewarded.

Ok good to know. Thanks

Hey, hows the new guide coming along?
