55 Necro HM farms! (lots of pictures)
Angry Shin
Hi Taco, I've been trying your Solo Fow Build, In normal Mode for start, works great on everything, however I can't kill Warriors (Spam Healing Sig) and Monks even if I cast SS on a warrior next to the monk + IP...
I figured I tried HM, since they attack faster, maybe it would kill them...So far I manage to survive 30 sec because the Mesmer always strip out Protective Spirit (even if I have all my enchantments up,but eventually he will take out PS)
What am I doing wrong ?

Monks and warriors are easy in the FoW, and FoW itself is easier in Hard Mode. as long as you group up a warrior with the monk and make sure the warrior doesn't scatter, you can destroy monks. as for warriors solo, SS + IP will take them out quickly. (Hard Mode helps a TON with your energy supply, which is where i assume your problems lie: no energy to keep IP and SS on a war or monk, not enough energy to cover your enchants and also cast offensively.)
wonderwyrm
I saw over in one of the elementist farming threads, he was doing the termites in plains of jarin HM, is that possible with any of these builds?
and if so, which build would be the safest to use?

Fuzzy Taco
SS + IP can destroy termites in Hard Mode, and it can kill the buggie rangers in the big group outside Sunspear Great Hall. you can also use it to kill Hassin Softskin.
wonderwyrm
cool, i assume i should also use a +20% enchants mod as well?
Fuzzy Taco
that helps, not necessary.
wonderwyrm
the ibogas take me to the bank, i never have enough energy to keep my enchants up
Fuzzy Taco
keep an energy battery ( a warrior) alive, and you'll have enough energy.
Angry Shin
OK thanks, tried fow in HM, works better, the monk goes down easily. But I still get killed by the mesmer with his shatter Enchantment taking away my PS, even with HB and SB up. (3 times in a row)
What's the trick ?
What's the trick ?
Fuzzy Taco
ther is no trick, are you covering in the right order? casting PS, HB, SB? sometimes, you can gt stripped while reapplying PS and he'll get it in the middle of you casting HB. if you want to be extra safe, recast enchants in this order vs. mesmer groups: PS,SB,HB,SB.
Angry Shin
I finally understood
I casted it in the right order but I sometimes spammed PS and that's where he use his SE to take it away.
It works great now, just got 3 shards and a nice req9 shadow sword. Thanks a lot Fuzzy !

Some questions.
Why not replace Heeling Breeze With Restful Breeze?
As restful brreze at 9 healing gives you 10seconds of +10 regen and at 8 healing prayers it gives you 9seconds of +10regen.
if at 8healing prayers a +20% enchanting mod can be used for longer RB same goes for 9 healing prayer.
Wouldnt it also remove the mending skill from the build releasing a skill slot?

restful breeze ends if you use another skill
Fuzzy Taco
agreed. restful breeze is useless in a 55 build beause you do a lot of skil spamming, and you can't really spam with restful breeze.

Great guide by the way; I'm definitely able to tank mobs I wouldn't have dared previously.
A few questions however; I'm simply not able to get up to the same Energy you are; how do you do it? I've posted a screenshot of my gear below. Secondly, you mention being able to handle a constant -10 health degen. Against multiple mobs all with IP on, I'm sure, but what about fewer enemies, say one or two, that drop you with -5 or -6 degen in quick succession? I find I'm just not regaining enough energy to be able to keep myself up.

@FreshFeesh - Are you using Radiant insignia? That's a +7e bonus. Also, you are not enchanted (or hexed) in that photo, which will give you another +8e (+11e hexed)
Also, your attributes are kinda spread out.

I'm not using the Radiant insignia -- I'll look for that one. I know I'm not enchanted nor hexed, but neither is Taco in his first pic, which was what I was trying to emulate Will the radiant insignia overwrite what I already have on my chest, or will it be in addition to?
The skills are spread out but I'm finding them working really well, now that I'm starting to get the timing down. The extra little bit in Smiting prayers isn't used, and it's not enough to give me an extra dot in anything else. I could bring curses down one and then raise Soul reaping + Healing prayers, but I'm trying to find the best balance of points for Healing Breeze.

hai thar feesh!
how do i get all my energy? good question. i have 30 base energy, so let's start from scratch. i get 6 energy from the offhand, so i now have 36 energy. i have radiant insignias, so i then get 8 more energy, for 44 energy. my primary weapon, the Spirit of the Forgotten, has +5 energy, making it 49. when i 55, i'll have 52 max energy, because i get 3 more energy for being enchanted (which i always am.) Radiant insignias will not overwrite whatever runes you have on your armor, just the insignias already there. for example, say you have a Blessed Chest piece of Superior Blood Magic. if you upgrade it with a radiant insignia, it will get rid of the Blessed prefix, but not the superior blood suffix. if i'm too confusing, it's all on wiki. good luck farming!

Not confusing at all; thanks for the insight!
I am wondering what areas you do are not able to farm -- you've already mentioned Prophet's Path (sure found that one out myself!), but are there any specific other areas you avoid?

Ok so first off great build. I look fiorward to testing it out.
Secondly: I only have Prophecies so what skill would you suggest to replace spirit bond?
Also, from reading your guide I assumed that you can switch out between SS/IP and SV/IP whenever you wanted to and it just takes longer with SS. Is that correct?
And on a side note: is there any way for me to get factions or Nightfall skills?

When I had only Prophecies I used Shielding Hands/Guardian.
Fuzzy Taco
Pretty much all of the areas farmable with SV are farmable with SS. you'll need to group melees next to monks though, and things like that, but it should be possible. as for a spirit bond replacement, Shielding Hands is optimal for proph only chars. good luck, and have fun farming!
a toddler
hey, i was wondering if you could come up with a build that's Factions only?
Fuzzy Taco
i'm not sure that's possible, because you'd have nothing in the way of energy gain skills.... all i can think of is a tainted Flesh build that degens monsters to death, and takes it easy on the energy. you might even be forced to use something like blessed signet.
monstersparkler
You can farm the Djinn outside of EotN in HM, there are only about 9 or 10 of them though (that i've found).
I got a nice Platinum Broadsword(req9) from them.

Ok thanks. Also if I were to find or buy an elite necro tome would that allow me to unlock skills from other campaigns not just Prophecies?
P.S. How would watchful spirit work you think? It gives +2 regen, costs 15 enery.

^qft.
as far as watchful spirit is concerned, imo it's not too useful unless you're in areas with a lot of degen or with small groups, so Mending + Watchful stacked eliminate the need for healing breeze.

Great guide I always wanted to 55 monk but i hate monking so this is great.

Ok so 2 things.
I bought GW:EN recently and I found that you can cap Spirit Bond from the Facet of Existence in the Riven Earth are of the Tarnished Coast. So if any of you are trying this build and want that skill but don't have factions, if you have GW:EN you can still get it. I havnt checked all the bosses yet but I don't think that SV is available anywhere from any bosses.
Oh and Reckless Haste is available as well from Bredyss Longstride in Magus Stones, also in the Tarnished Coast in case you want that one as well for tis build.
Secondly: I heard that SB was nerfed in the Oct. 25th update. Does anyone know if this is true and if so how was it changed?

Spirit bond was nerfed, yes. it used to have an unlimited amount of hits instead of the 10, which allowed you to take on infinite amounts of enemies at once, which was obscenely overpowered. however, it still works perfectly for a secondary heal as a 55, and, if Healing Breeze is unavailable, you can live off of it alone.
nice call on the EotN stuff! that should help some people quite a bit.

i'm 99.9% sure that if you own EotN and cap it in EotN, you can use it.

Yes yes you guys are correct. I wasnt quite sure of it when I posted so I tested it out yesterday on Lyssa's Aura and no you cannot cap the skill if its in a campaign you dont have.
Oh well, it was a good idea at least.
P.S. I'm not sure that GuildWiki info is entirly correct. It wouldn't even let me cap the skill let alone use it.

I've tried doing this farm, and it's been unsuccessful, but i've just realised from closer observation of the second screenshot that the lightbringer title is active. If i don't have a lightbringer rank, will this affect the farm in the city? If not, then i'll keep trying.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Fuzzy Taco
lightbringer won't affect these runs at all, i just happened to have it up at the time.
boogerboy72
anywhere in the later parts of nightfall that be farmed> im about to finsh it and im ready for hardmode
Fuzzy Taco
later in NF? you can farm exuro and friends in HM with the Fow solo build, and you can kill some shadow people in the realm of torment, can't remember where they are offhand.
