View this trailer, then compare it to the GW:EN trailer... Does it not look like the new Wow game looks very similar? Anet was first blizzard, back off ;D

Except for the fact that they have been working on this for a while and the new stuff for GW:EN wans shown till E3, and there is no way they could have made that stuff between then and now. Thus no one copied anyone.
stop with this wow vs gw crap, do you think there will be any meaning full talk about it on a GW message board? No cause almost every post will be "OMG wow is the suck, tehy cpoied"
Edit: see, check the above post

Better yet, who cares? Diablo 2's Expansion had added dungeon crawling too. GW:EN must be getting the idea from Diablo 2. What would an expansion to a RPG be if it didn't add new quests and new places to explore?

Hey, finally a chance to post my tinfoilish expansion pack theory, that there will most likely be an expansion pack that introduces a snowy/wintery area. Let's make a list of games that've had a "snowy" expansion:
Diablo 2 - Lord of Destruction expansion
Starcraft - Brood War expansion
Warhammer 40k - Winter Assault expansion
Morrowind - Bloodmoon expansion
Neverwinter Nights - Shadows of Undretide
Fable: The Lost Chapters

Northerend was created in Warcraft III, which came far before Guild Wars. Nice miss.

If you are going to say someone copied the other between the two, its GW.
WoW had Northrend since Warcraft 3 which came out, what? 3 years before GW? Sure the trailer looks alike and all, but that doesn't mean that GW is more original. They just introduced GW:EN earlier.
And there are many more games that've had snowy places in expansions.

And this is why I think Guild Wars is an Amish video game. The players defend the game so vigorously that they are ignorant to everything else, and think that their culture (i.e. Guild Wars itself) is a gift from God himself.
Warcraft III was released in 2002. Guild Wars didn't even exist then.

Look at the announced Wrath of the Lich King features and you will see Armor Inscriptions and some other sort of GW'ish features. The Death Knight is a W/N, basically.
As for the lore, WoW is not copying GW. The WoW lore logically leads to a confrontation with King Arthas, the Lich King, and Northrend has always been in the north.
All that being said, the rumbling on the WoW boards is not entirely favorable. Another ten levels? Arrrrgh! Plus, all the hard work that has gone into fine tuning level 70 builds will be obsolete by level 72 or 73.
In any event, Wrath of the Lich King is 1.5 to 2 years away, maybe more. GW:EN is here at the end of this month!

Warcraft III was released in 2002. Guild Wars didn't even exist then. Well i have played wow i have nothing against it and ive seen 2003 screens of GW ... so... i dunno who is copying who, its kinda sad really
What i saw in this trailer wasnt much different from what i saw in the GW:EN trailer couple of days ago :S

"Transform your hero's look with new character-customization options, including new hairstyles and dances."

And how did you get "Armor Inscriptions" from that trailer? Sounds like a big jump to a wrong conclusion.

If you're looking to see how the WoW population is reacting to this news, the forums is probably the LAST place you should look. It's filled with nothing but whiners and greifers, and is about less than 1% of WoW's population.

You clearly read the forums wrong. The forums are complaining that lv. 70 gear will be obsolete by 72-73, which was a problem with the first expansion. Blizzard definately knows that, and will likely try to make gear progression more linear.

Not exactly. After obtaining Frostmourne, Arthas became a Death Knight. When Illidan's forces attacked Northrend and weakened the Lich King, Arthas stopped Illidan and the Lich King told Arthas to put on his helmet. Thus, they became merged.
...now why the heck am I explaining WoW lore?
But WoW lore is undeniably deeper that GW lore, of course...

This actually sounds rather interesting. Shame that the mesmer didn't have some abilities like this. They're the masters/mistresses of all things arcane. Too bad they couldn't have abilities that allow them to buff party member's spell casting abilities (higher effect, more range, spells cost less) or hinder their enemies' abilities (small effect, shorter range, increase spell cost), etc. Perhaps change Fast Cast to Arcane Mastery or buff the Inspiration line. I have Faith that a character editor is coming or hairstylist. That would make the mesmer in GW way over powered. This also being a competive game based on skill and skill balances. That one may the best over powered and the one with best leet weapons win.It is no wonderer WoW players can't play GW as they don't fully comprehend the skills.

In 2003, the GW Beta began in Gates of Kryta, and the main town was Lion's Arch. I stongly doubt ArenaNet had a grand plan to make GW:EN at that point.

So far this expansion looks like it kicks the crap out of GW:EN. Changeable hairstyles?, that just puts it over the top.

I have to say though that both GW EotN and the WoW: Wrath on the Lich King brings back two familiar characters and places that we know from the past. One is Gwen and the other Arthas Menethil/Lich King (Ner'zhul). Secondly one being the Northern Shiverpeaks the other is Northrend. Honestly I have to give points to both expansions in sense, because it pits the two at a rather ongoing competition for something so familiar each fan base.
I on the other hand will be picking up EotN and not this game though, for I still dislike the WoW system. Even if I miss out on the storyline, I thought they were going to continue with the first WoW but never did. GloryFox
Blizzard has nothing original they steal from everyone, including Tolkeen they watch the forums for their game and other competitors to out wit out do out perform for marketing, Blizzard makes games for Marketing not originality. GW has one thing Blizzard does not have however, and that's Jeff Grubb the original idea man for the Underdark from Forgotten Realms. Say what you will about GW lore but the catacombs and Underworld are essentially the idea's of this man.
Jeff Grubb @ WoTC http://ww2.wizards.com/Books/Wizards...?doc=JeffGrubb Jeff Grubb @ ANET http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Jeff_Grubb Mikael2021
The video was trying to catch your emotions, give you the chills.. but with those #@^%*y graphics, that didn't occur. All I could do was wait for it to end so I can say I watched it.
Metal Herc
Yeeeehaw! Blizzard is steelin them thar ideaers from Guild Wars.
Guild Wars borrow ideas from all of the games before it. Not to mention the whole concept and lore behind Northrend came out in 02 with Warcraft 3. Fanboys from both games suck. acidic

It looks just like GW:EN, only uglier and more PvE'ish. (And with bad voice acting)

The thread creators only goal with this thread, was to find a way to show you the WoW lich king video. He most likely know that WoW makes many GW fans see red, due to bitterness or simply just sheer hatred. For some sick reason it gives him satisfaction. The same satisfaction that all the people who like to come to GW messege boards for Fans, to post their hatred for the game or speak of their doomsday prophercies about how much the game is going to die, get.
comparing it with the GWEN trailer is merely a rogue explanation. An escape goat so he could post it. I know these type of people because I used to be one myself. It's a cleaver attempt, but he can't fool an old geek with too many flame wars and banned users behind him. BlackSephir
Both GW and WoW are sooo original...
Lonesamurai
I'll admit, there are a lot of similarities, but then again, there isn't much originality in either

Are you implying that GW:EN has good voice acting?!
The amount of irony just ripped a hole in the space-time continuum.

A) The first Death Knight was Arthas Menetil, after having found the Frostmourne. Not a W/N.
B) Northren exists before GW was even made.
C) The people here just love to talk smack and comment/critic a game that isn't even out yet, or by pure jealousy/hatred without knowing any facts.

Lich King actually looks pretty cool. That death knight sounds very original to a game like this. Yeah name and role wise its basically a shadowknight, but the whole rune-sword idea sounds interesting! And unlocking a class through a quest... thats somewhat new-ish.... certainly not a copy of guild wars in any case, though I wouldn't be surprised if GW2 end up using an idea like that (like start with core classes, unlock sin, rit, derv, para through quests)
In the end I think guild wars has a bit more potential, but WoW is far better at realizing its potential and really fleshing it out. just wish WoW would increase texture resolutions a tad hehe

i only have one thing to say: who cares? i mean just stop watching who the f*** copied which and enjoy the damn game when it comes out, as someone said in the other page there is like a dozen games that had expansions with similar things. If WoW copied Guildwars or vise versa, it wont change anything to your life unless you have some kind of mysterious bond with the game that keeps you alive. Also stop making threads about wow vs gw, its been over 2 years the games are out and they both are good, if you cant understand that just look at how many people play it.
sry but im getting tired of this kind of crap. Rofl this thread makes me think about that guy in Borat movie that keeps copying what borat buys/does.Man coffee is not good for me .
