Iv heard a lot of people got banned.. some that havne't even done anything. Take me for instance.. I'm guessing I had duped items.. I got free items from a guldie. As well did the rest of my guild, we had no idea that they were duplicated, but what happned? We were banned, all of us.
The real flaw in doing something like this is doing it like 3-weeks before GW:EN comes out. What they should have they at least done is, ban the accounts temp, delete all the duplicated items and let it go. It's really not fair to the people that haven't done anything, and I personally don't have the kind of money to buy all 3 games again, then going through it. I really don't have that kind of time, after taking a fall like that.
Guild Wars was fun, and enjoyed the gaming experience. Really hope GW:EN does good.. after they banned that many people. Though I really don't know for sure how many people were banned. I just heard from some people that they were banning everyone that had duplicated items on there account. Though, they really forgot to check the part, if the people had the duplicated items, were the ones that duplicate them.

Yeah, well I saw the prices sky rocketting down. So I bought some. I did tell Anet, they haven't even replied yet. My guldies got replys saying, the bans not going to be lifted.

Somehow i dont think these storys are true, PERSONALLY i think anyone that had dupe items knew it when they bought them for 50k. and you would know if your guildie bought them for that much since when ppl do that they usally say "Oh dang mannn i got a sweet deal on these armbraces" blah blah blah

i sent in lots of emails and i got one really mean one back from a gm saying that they where not gonna read any of my emails i just want my account back from this gaint mistake i was also put in..

Well, you have to add in the fact, that you knew them like forever. And the point that if the price of something is going down, your going to buy some of it. I'd call you stupid if you saw something like an ambrace for sale for 50k. BUT if you DIDN'T know that they have been being duped.
( I'm not saying I got them for 50k )

I'm not sure why I got banned but I sure as hell didn't buy any arm braces. Maybe it's those few times I got disconnected this weekend and quickly reconnect that tied the knot around my neck. Same for my cousin, even. He also got banned, maybe because he's on the same IP as me.
I'm just hoping my best friend doesn't face the same fate cause I gave him Guild Wars as a present last Friday....

No one has proven anything.. The people that WERE DOING THE DUPLICATING should be banned.. not the ones that bought and took things from them. If you go to look at it one way, you can't break a rule for buying things for cheep? . And those 250 ambrace stacks.. where does it say chunkys name? I would love to see.

My guild leader, 5 officers (including me), all banned. Good game ANet.
Not worth telling our cases here (no one bought armbraces, 3 people weren't even ingame yesterday), did so in an e-mail to them. Let's hope this is sorted out.

He knew that those armbraces HAD to have come from the duplication exploit. There is no way in hell that his friends are just that nice and that rich to give away at least 7 stacks...STACKS of armbraces to their buddy chunky.
He knew about the exploit and he choose to try and gain from it.
Anet did the right thing in my opinion. He deserves the ban.

This is complete and utter bullshit. How in the hell is anyone supposed to know if they recieved duped items? I am absolutely refusing to play this game anymore if I lost my r9, legendary guardian, etc account because I somehow got a duped item. I don't even remember trading with anyone other than for victory tokens, and those came from my guild.

2) The Dupes haven't just been selling for just a few days - it's apparantly been going on for about a month. You may have bought/traded something earlier than just the last 48-72 hours.
3) If you believe you have unfairly been banned because you innocently bought an item (without knowing it was duped), then take your concerns to support. There are legit ways to go about the problem - bringing the discussion to the forum is only fueling the fire for the Whiner/Haters.
4) Because this is a SEVERE problem - taking up many resources in support, and the devs trying to resolve the problem - don't expect a resolution at the snap of the fingers. Support will be dealing with many people querying about their ban. Support are very good (when you're not in a ballistic mood at them) for sorting out problems - they know what they're doing. If the ban remains in place, they have legit reasons - the only word we have of your innocence is YOURS.
Think of the old adage "There's two sides to every story - yours, mine and the truth".

If your banned forget posting on forums your not going to get any help, send off an email to Anet and they will explain why your exploiting ass got banned.... or say oops our mistake here is your account back.

This was taken from the official wiki. It seems when you disconnected, they believed you were actually using the exploit to dupe. There ya have it.

Posting here won't help you any. Anet already know if you suddenly appeared with 1750 armbraces, they in all likelyhood can trace them back to the exact original one.
And as for the disconnects, they have error logs to improve game play so they can tell how many times, your location and even the nature of the disconnect fault.
