Well, here is for assignment two completed. Were just getting started and already we've encountered some fabulous work, Bob Spellchecker would be proud if he would be here (He snuck off on his vacation to Hawaii for a week. :P)
Remember: Those with immunity from assignment one, can and will loose points if they do horribly during the assignment after they were given immunity.
Note: I will be regularly randomizing the judges around, so that it isn't at easy to identify the judges.
So, in no particular order, here are this weeks submissions, for the assignment "Romantico", with judges comments.
Queen Kitiara
Judges Comments:
Judge 1: Very nice. This is a very convincing kissing shot, and I am very impressed on the execution. It must have been a pain just to time the emote properly, and the result is great! The pose works (I understand the Hammer was unavoidable), the romance is there, and Queen looks great. That's hot.
Judge 2: Wow, did you make such a hot photo here. I don't know how you even managed this type of kiss pose that its just amazing. The background works well, and I like to see that you added your own little touch with the quote on this one. The pose is just great, it looks like Kitiara just slithered between the hammer Devona was wearing and gave her a surprise kiss. Now go get a room!
Judge 3: This shot, is magnificent. I had not expected much from the troubles you are having. I felt that you would have had to rush this assignment in hopes you could continue on, but I was proven wrong. You managed to pull off such a great shot, even with all your stress. Great Job!
Ashling Fey
"How lucky I am to have something that makes leaving so hard."
Judges Comments:
Judge 1: Whoa, tidus looks crazy tall! And yes, that was what my eyes were drawn to first. I feel the romance is there, the interaction is there, and the ambiance is there. However I think you have to watch out for proportions, because that little ship to the left totally makes Tidus gigantic, and makes him the focus instead of Miss Fey. But I must say, great eye for colour.
Judge 2: Hehe, you stole a male model, luck girl! I love the lighting in that place that you took the picture, its wonderful and perfect to set the romantic mood. It is a tad bit dark, and aren’t you lucky that your skin and hair are really light. The quote is okay, which works perfectly with the history of the male model you stole for this picture and works well with this pose. His height is a little out there, but it works well with a short female which makes it more intimate sometimes. The only thing that distracts me is the boat to the left. It almost makes Tidus look more giant and awkward than he really is. Covering up the boat made the picture just fine.
Judge 3: The choice of a brighter armor in the dark setting made this shot pop out. I can see the love, I can see that there is a relationship here. Not to mention you did manage to get a hot male model from TMW. I personally think this would be a great scene for a movie, I want to see what happens after this shot!
Sue Aside
"You can't help who you love. You're not supposed to."
Judges Comments:
Judge 1: Eek, the first thought in my head was, CAT FIGHT!! instead of lesbian lovers. I totally thought the pose looked like they were strangling one another. Overall, this shot really disappointed me after your amazing product last week. The background is a little random, it could possibly be a cropping problem. The dervish's arm is in front of Sue Aside, so my eyes naturally go to the dervish first. And really, I just don't feel the love.
Judge 2: Ah, a female on female I knew this was gonna be interesting when the assignment had it the option to have a girl on girl. I instantly knew the girl on girl was gonna be the most interesting and I pegged you to be on top, but from the looks of this picture, I didn't know what to think. It really lacks so much, from the lack of color to the emotion that is trying to be shown here. You completed the assignment yes, it shows interaction between the two females...but sometimes you can tell that they are interacting rather than being forced to be together.
Judge 3: From the looks of it, these two ladies are about ready to have a smooching fest if you ask me. It looks like there is a relationship to me, which the assignment was about after all. The background, maybe is to bland for the romantic scene, which effects the picture nonetheless. Otherwise, god job on your assignment.
Rosemary Marron
Will you steal my first kiss...?
Judges Comments:
Judge 1: I like the awkwardness in the picture, the innocent, cute first kiss feeling (hehehe). However, the half blink really bothers me, and detracts a little from the overall image. The background as well doesn't compliment Aiden's clothes, and the "first kiss" theme. I feel like a city look, or the beach, or a park (oh wait, no parks in GW), would have totally made this SO teenage crush, etc. Overall, very sweet.
Judge 2: I like the shy little innocent quote that you had along with this picture. That quote alone works so well with this picture, because usually when a first kiss happens it does become awkward. The way both of them are leaning in it does look like they are not that comfortable with it, it makes for a cute innocent picture and makes me smile. Although you have to consider what happens during certain movements, which made the poses a little awkward.
Judge 3: Ahh, this defiantly reminds me of young teen romance. The squinting of Rosemary looks like shes making sure her kiss will be placed at the right place, in case she would accidentally miss and embarrass herself on her first kiss. Only thing that bothers me with this shot, is the "deformed" look at Rosemary's upper body. Maybe it's just because of the angle, but all around still a teem romance shot!
Emma Foxx
"You can't help who you love, you're not supposed to."
Judge's Comments:
Judge 1: So on top of lesbians strangling one another, they also like to caress one another's fingers! Okay but seriously, this really doesn't show romance. I can see possibly friendship, but definitely not love. The pose doesn't work, the background is random, and most importantly the couple just doesn't look like a couple.
Judge 2: I dont really get this picture, at all. I dont see how this is suppose to be romantic, interactive yes, but nothing to do with love. The quote is the only hint that this was supposed to be submitted for the romance assignment. Maybe the assignment should of called for an explanation for these pictures, because I'm rather curious of the background for this picture to make it romantic.
Judge 3: I don't see a couple, I don't see romance. I see friends, having fun, goofing around. I don't think you understood the assignment, it feels rushed. Although the scenery in the background (the spring colored leaves and blossoms on the tree) could have been used better, for a romantic shot.
Tasha Darke
“It’s going to be ok. I know you’ve done bad things in the past but I want you to know I forgive you. Much more than forgive you… I love you…”
Judge's Comments:
Judge 1: O.M.G. was the first impression I got from just looking at the picture. The scenery is breathtaking, the choice of male hero is GREAT, and best of all, Tasha looks like a STAR! I'll admit, i wasn't severely impressed last week and was scared for future assignments, but you totally proved me wrong. This is SO romantic, and the light on Tasha's face really reinforces the affection. I am very impressed.
Judge 2: This picture is really stunning, it almost made me speechless. With the added scenery, the interaction between Anton and Tasha...this looks perfect for a romantic cover or poster. The only real problem I have with it, is that its a little dark on Anton's face but it doesn't take away from the picture one bit. You are the star, and you took it just as that but you knew that it was about you two and not just the number one diva. Hehe great job!
Judge 3: I very much enjoyed this shot. I wasn't expecting much coming from you after assignment one, but this one hit me, and hit me hard. It's gorgeous, and defiantly without a doubt shows romance. You have a hidden talent, and it seems that it only took you a bit of warming up to get to it. Superb execution of the assignment.
Death Defyer
"If I give you my heart, will you promise not to break it?"
Judge's Comments:
Judge 1: HEY BILLY BOBBY BOY! This shot totally reminded me of that TMW shot too. However, instead of unbridled passion, this is soooo sweet and cute. It is quite impressive how you made mean/evil looking necro's into looking shy and lovey dovey. The ambience is perfect, and overall great shot!
Judge 2: I really like the somber attitude in this picture. It's almost reminiscent of Billy Bobby Boy's lust picture from TMW, with the fire and the area that surrounds you. But what that picture had and this one doesn't is the glow of the fire and the heat of romance between the two lovers. Death Defyer looks timid which really works with the quote that you added to the picture. Although the environment really blends with you and your male necro's skin, which makes me think that you really needed that glow from the fire to bring some color in there rather than the glow from your pale skin.
Judge 3: I felt that maybe you could have used more lighting in the foreground. A dark background, plus pale skinned characters, could use lighting. As for romance, it's defiantly in the air here. It looks like shes about ready to go snuggle up in his arms. Defiantly romance, defiantly a well done assignment.
Cold Lucille
My caption is, as a tribute to Edward Scissorhands:
"Hold me."
"I can't."
Judge's Comments:
Judge 1: Last week, I thought your shots were SUPERB, and so naturally I was expecting something just as good. And holy cow, do you deliver! This is sooo seductive, passionate, intoxicating. I feel out of everyone, you transcended the generic romance theme, and added your own touch to it. This is stylish, this is romantic, and whoa can you make a pale girl look hot! And also love the reference to Edward Scissorhands.
Judge 2: I really liked the fact that you used a movie for inspiration for this assignment, and not only that you nailed the appropriate pose for it. It's just stunning how well you managed to do such a seductive yet tender looking pose for this assignment. It works so well with the pose, works well with you inspiration and works so well with this assignment. Great Job! I would definatly watcha movie if this was on the promotional poster.
Judge 3: Floored again. Theres nothing much really to say to it, aside from that you've done a superb job, and if I remember correctly, from all the others turned in, yours was the only one with a quote from a movie, which this contest is basically about, Movies! I think Edward Scissorshands would be proud.
Eryn Shadowbane
"Forever yours - wherever you may be."
Judge's Comments:
Judge 1: This is so sad, and totally reminded me of the movie "Ghost." However, for this exact shot, it does look like mourning. I believe it is possible to have interacted with the ghostly hero and still maintain the "dead lover" theme. However, I do understand the difficulty of working with a Ghostly Hero. Not bad, not good.
Judge 2: Eryn, you are a very beautiful paragon and you take really great shots. You were even in the top of many in the last assignment, but in this one it almost looks like you missed the point of this assignment. I don't really see any love between the two lovers here, its more subjective then physical because you used a ghostly hero. I do get what you were trying to do here, having Eryn longing for her dead "lover" but what was romantic turned into sorrow and loss. I really wish you could of shown interaction here, although it is a very beautiful picture.
Judge 3: The Paragon is beautiful, but I don't see romance here. I see a stiff pose, in front of Mister Ghostly Hero, whom I'm assuming is your "lost" hero, or lover. Although this is deep, it isn't what the assignment was looking for. Although I would have to agree, it is hard to post with the ghostly hero, although not to hard. Dunes mission, where he sits on the alter, is a good place to get closer to him, if you needed too.
Sali Su
"Let me whisper sweet nothings in your ear."
Judge's Comments:
Judge 1: I liked your reasoning behind cropping it so close. It really is reminiscent of a romance novel. However, the background really doesn't add to the front cover look, and since Cynn basically exists in all the majority of outposts, I think you could have found a much more romantic one. Secondly, it does look like you're resting your head on her shoulder more than whispering into her ear. And lastly, I really would have liked to see a bit of Cynn's face.
Judge 2: I like the quote that you used with your picture, and I can see where you were trying to go with this picture. It's a nice idea but its not as effective as it should be. Cynn's back is towards us, and its hard to tell if Sali is really whispering in her ear or just leaning on her shoulder. I think it would of been more romantic and showed the love that you were instructed to do in a different position and a different angle. Would of loved to see any part of Cynn's face too.
Judge 3: A lot of energy was put into this shot, although I believe better areas could have been chosen, or different angles. Being able to see the faces of people in the shots is something everyone should look for, otherwise, how are we supposed to recognize whom you are posing with? Not to bad, not to good, although, great idea.
