Was GWEN too expensive for what we got?
Lucinda
From someone who plays solely PvP - £25 (or $50) for 100 new skills and 10 heroes, (which I never shall use), was a very expensive outlay. They should have had a PvP only edition for around £5-£10 for the amount of content us PvPers got; so I would have to say it was extremely overpriced.

I can see your point, but, it did state in the beginning that it was PVE skills they were expanding. I don't normally defend GWEN, but, it was stated as such.

I hear what you say, lord dragon, but why include any PvP usable skills if it was only for PvE players? Some of the skills are pretty useful, and to remain competitive is is necessary to have all skills available to you.
If it had been a completely PvE expansion, I would not have purchased it. As it is, I unlocked everything during the preview weekend.

Would have been nice for that and just the new skills. Perfect PVP version.

i agree its slightly overpriced for the content however there is always hope that new content will be added as we trundle along to GW2

I'm more peeved about the same thing most players seem to be -- the massive armor letdown. Right, so doing two dungeons yesterday and netting 2 onyx, 1 diamond, assorted golds, purples, blues, decent white items and quite a few rare materials and regular materials is bad how?
I've seen one nice armor I'll get in EN, I liked one armor in Factions and one in NF...the 'letdown' tends to be self-inflicted by people's expectations which for some reason where insanely high.

Well I guess that Nightfall and Factions were insanely high bars that GWEN could just not meet. This product did not come close to the quality of those and was 4/5 the cost. Heck, if we got 4/5 the quality I would have been happy.

Actually, no, I think what some people got into their heads was "This will have to last until GW2 so the armors will increase my e-peen by a factor 10!"
Sarcastic exaggeration ofcourse but perhaps not that far from the truth.
Personally I think, note that I'm not making absolute statements which EN detractors so seem to love, this is the best work Anet has ever done. No Fedex quests, beautiful area designs all over, improved monster AI (body blocking Charr?!?), an excellent balance to give you challenging but not possible odds and real rewards for completing things like dungeons.
But hey, to each his/her own, right? So next time, try to be less absolute because its insulting and annoying to the people that do like EN, your opinion is just your opinion, nothing more and everyone has one of those, they're like a**holes that way.

Your right, everyone is entitled to there own opinion and everyone plays GuildWars a different way. But when you have a vast amount of people complaining about the same thing, you know something went wrong. I, in my own personal way, i dont buy expansions for better scenary or better a.i. I buy expansions for more content and items. When those fail to be there, its rather dissappointing. I am not saying i dont like GWEN, it had the potential to be something greater, but it was a huge let down for me. After i have beaten it already, i find it hard for me to repeat or keep playing it.
But the question of the thread "Was GWEN too expensive for what we got?" . For me and alot of people was yes. Why was it too expensive? Because the expectations they announced and what they delivered were two different things. What i expected from what they said was, 40 new armor sets, new weapons, 18 vast dungeons, 10 new heros, end game content to better your lvl 20 characters. What i got was 38 reskinned armors(i dont care if they are better looking than the original sets, they are not new or original, plus some of them are mix and not match, ugly) Some new weapons, alot of reskins and greens and crafted weapons that take rarity away, 18 dungeons, only few vast, that give me a diamond or two at the end? lame. No end game content, no way to better your lvl 20 character.
I am greatly dissappointed in GWEN, i dont think you get real rewards for completing those dungeons as well. I probaly would of still bought it on a later date when the price went down.

for me, GW:EN is a not at the moment game, with it only being an expantion rarther than a new chapter.
i just dont see it as being woth enough to cut into my overdraft for.
ive seen it at such vareable prices, in the local main town (i dont live near a major city) it is from £17 to £30, at least with the others the price was the same wherever i looked.

For one, I was uber pissed when I beat the game, getting yet another end-game bow for my Ranger, when all of Droknar's bows were all reskins. Isn't this dude like the ultimate dwarf craftsman? Why's he making the same !@#ing half moons that I found killing a lvl 20 blob in the Jade Sea? Very disappointed.
However, the destroyer weapons look awesome, and after doing around 25 dungeon runs I have 2 diamonds and 1, yes ONE Onyx. I want to collect all 11 weapon types for my HoM... doing the math that would take me at least 2 months straight of playing to get them. More realistically, about a year. A year of dungeon running. Honestly.

Imo it should have had at least one extra charslot.

Much too expensive; you can tell that Arenanet had to pay the bills.

I'd say that comparing to previous GW releases GW:EN has the worst pricing of all, the least value per $ spent. No slots and no storage really hurts and the difference in price is minor. Add to that the horrible armors which could just aswell not exist (only a couple are high quality, comparable to previous campagins, the rest is a bad joke and utter trash)
But after all I still consider the money well spent on GW:EN, it's still well worth it. Almost all of the content is top quality and the gameplay is even better than before. I just don't like the fact GW is becoming more expensive - the 2 slots which have to be bought separately cost much more than the difference in prices, the missing storage tab can't be bought and I can imagine them coming with a package of the missing armors sold separately... sad.

I have done my share of complaining about Guild wars and there are a couple of things about GWEN I do not like - the mismatched Dwarven armor and the insane grind for destroyer gloves.
But, overall, I would buy it again. I have enjoyed the scenery, the quests, the dungeons and the grind for the titles has not been too bad up to level 5 (unless there is a skill I really need to max though I don't think I will try to get the titles all the way up). So, for me, yes it was worth it - but if you are mostly into PvP probably not. Woop Shotty
Not too expensive!

After having the game for a few days now I think I got my money's worth. I almost didn't want to buy it at first because of threads like this, but I am glad I did.
However, if your play-style is to rush through the main storyline as quickly as possible just for the end item, it might not be worth it for you. lord dragon

The GRIND must flow, GRIND is life. In GWEN it is! LOL!!! Don't worry, will be quiet from this point on. Someone had a great suggestion to just move it to other gaming boards. Take care. I tend to judge a title by hours played per dollars spent. Anything with a ratio of one or better, by that measure, is good enough. Anything with a ratio much higher than that is a real find. Counting GWEN, I've spent $165 on GW, and gotten 850 hours of entertaining gameplay (with plenty more to do). At least 40 of that was already GWEN, so I'm feeling fine about my purchase.
