Gwen is actually the most interesting character since Prince rurik. She actually has a *gasp* personality!

Nope. The discussion is about character progression. About how Gwen became a sweet innocent girl to a stuck up wench from hell.

I don't quite mind the "booka" comments. It's their name for all humans, even if it compares us to loud, noisy destructive monsters. If you've noticed through the game, Vekk tends to stop using it against you. And when he slowly warms up to you, he uses it in a less ridiculing term and more of a playful mocking sense.

Gadd, on the other hand, would gladly kill any one for his research. People who can just take the lives of others as a first resort without informing them of the risk just deserve nothing short of being tied up by their ears and swung into the Lion's Den.

I've never really given a damn about her, and never will. I've never understood the obsession some people seem to have with her. To be honest, I was kinda hoping she'd be annoying in the expansion, just so people who once loved the little girl Gwen would learn to despise the older version. Is that mean?

What did you expect everyone to be on the level and be overly melodramatic? I hate melodramatics they kill the storyline so much. I love the duality of any type of character, showing in depth to who they really are. I can actually say, I liked the character way more then I ever did then.

I mean you did not honestly think that if Gwen came back, she would be all preppy and nice? I already knew the dark side of Gwen was coming after she literarily went through hell and back. I absolutely dislike Pre-Ascalon and to that fact what Gwen was like at that time. Now I have no problem to the fact what she became.

I hate how she's still whining about the invasion of Ascalon. Yeah, the Charr roughed up Ascalon a bit. Has she ever heard of the Jade Wind? I don't think so, or she might realize how lucky she is that Ascalon (and every single living creature in it) wasn't turned to stone. Ascalon got it easy compared to Cantha.

I hate Gwen with the thousand furies of online game NPC hate. I wish she would die and I get to see it all happen, zombie style, and many other non mentionable styles. In fact she should be forced to watch her parents death many times over for opening her mouth I can't stand her at all.

Exactly. That's pretty much why I can deal with her rantings - they are pretty much justified, unlike most typical fussy teenagers. Honestly she would've either turned out the way she did, or incredibly withdrawn, one of the two. Lol, Gwen is... Scary... But she is way better to have in the party than Norgu. If ego was AL Norgu would be invincible. I first thought pyre was pretty cool because he seemed to resent the Searing, but turns out he doesn't care about the Searing, hes just upset that he was lead by false gods. Now I hate him. Hayda doesn't annoy me, she makes me laugh. Usually I travel with Gwen, Livia and Vekk/Hayda/Pyre/Jora.

EDIT: Almost forgot about Gadd. 1 min into the cutscene I know I hated him! He was evil and obnoxious. When Oola came and told Vekk about Gadd's Death, I was kinda happy until Vekk put his head down and then I knew it was going to be another Luke Skywalker/ Darth Vader moment and I was like "Oh shit!". Poor Vekk lol.

Bah! Honestly, she was way too light on Charr. If she didn't become a hero so fast, I was assuming she would go twisted and try to kill us just for becoming friends with Pyre. That's what I'd expect from someone like Gwen going through what she went through. The only reason she probably didn't was because she doubted her own ability to overpower Pyre and us. I think we kept her in check.

Yeah, she's got a chip on her shoulder regarding the Charr. I'd be pissed too if they nuked my home, killed my parents, and destroyed everything I've ever known and loved, AND THEN took me prisoner and kept me in a cage just fattening me up for a nice dinner sometime in the future. Oh, hacking up and eating my fellow prisoners right in front of me wouldn't do much to improve my disposition, either.

However every 8 year old girl is not the same as the other; there is such a thing as a personality that does not always follow the ideals of society.

It was a mediocre cliché that felt bored and worn out. That’s what I can’t stand. I have seen many RPG’s do this before and again. Not to mention the locals who all seem to have a nice day until things go terribly bad. At least Fable (of all things) had the sister who knew things were too good to be true; just before she had her eye’s gouged out. She was not preppy; she was a bit more emotionally tied to the knowledge of what was going to happen. Nevertheless there were things that lacked in Fable too that were way too cliché there as well.

I like the character somewhat, but I think it would have been better if Anet wrote the part for Hillary Haag (of ADV fame).

I haven't finished the game, but I hope at one point in GWEN or the next expansion if there is one she finds a little peace and becomes a little more normal.

That’s an interesting point you bring up. Well I feel they might not answer that question right away, but through certain events that tie into GW 2. I would find it appealing, if the unlocks on the fellowship monument gave insight to what happen to your beloved heroes. Furthermore to have it as an unlock system tied to some special quests that allow you find the descendants of your favorite heroes. So that way these descendants can tell you about their ancestors lives. However this idea falls short with Razah who will be waiting for you in the next life anyways; waiting for your descendants. I say a half breed like him, is probably going to be around more then a few hundred years.

Anyways the point in being that Gwen probably finds peace is kind of clear when you see the dialog between Pyre and herself during the epilogue.

Ironically, the most hyped up character, Gwen, has the worst voice acting in the expansion. I still like the character, but I cringe whenever she is in a cutscene. Now, Pyre Fierceshot, there's a great character with great voice acting.

Loved GW's:EOTN but HAAAAAAAATE Gwen the person. I think they just threw her in as just a massive bit of fan service to the proph lovers. Hated her then, hate her even more now...

The char hero however I seem to quite like and not just cause he'd maul Gwen given half the chance
