Ahh, I see. What's annoying is that when you get Jin and Margrid at the end of Nightfall they will be level 11 and 18, respectively, IIRC, so they will require some leveling. But still, it's worth it, in my opinion. I ran my ranger and elementalist through Nightfall just to get all the heroes after I saw what a difference they made against Cyndr on my warrior and also to have three necros for Sabs. You'll be loving that "creepy old dude" soon enough, .
EotN is definitely easier if you have the full slate of Heroes from Nightfall.

Oh, I already run Sab's Triad. Usually it's absolutely amazing. That's why I hate to sub in required characters for certain missions.
Oh well. Like I said, just two missions left and NF's done.

They can do massive amounts of damage and, in Cyndr's case, suck away his life right through his carapace -- so no bothering with kegs which, if you have an all hero/hench team, are a pain.
Here is an effective touch ranger build for Cyndr suggested by Mark Nevermiss from earlier in this thread:
[skill]vampiric bite[/skill][skill]vampiric touch[/skill][skill]throw dirt[/skill][skill]whirling defense[/skill][skill]dryder's defenses[/skill][skill]offering of blood[/skill][skill]troll unguent[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
Attribute points:
Blood Magic: 12
Expertise: 11+1+2
Wilderness Survival : 6+1
Touch rangers should be given wands/focus items or staffs for extra energy.
See also Touch Rangers. Wow thanks! I am goin to try this suggestion.

Does degen works at Cyndr? like poison or hexes (conjure nightmare)?
mrmango
Yea.
But it's easy enough to have enough damage packed in your heroes, then flag them separately, and your henchmen behind them. Then you run kegs. Win.

Dude, check the batteries on your sarcasm detector.
(And I thought that my bad grammar, Titanic and Brokeback references gave me away )
The sad thing is that something like the above listed scenario works.
And the fact that the boss can be completed in such a way - says volumes about the design decisions made.

I always seem to have trouble with this one.
I was playing a Dervish and took touchers with me. The thing is that before they even get to him. He has taken a few shots that wipe them out to soon.
The dam toucher heros just dont sem to get the sequence just right.
I gave up that approach and tried to take my rit hero to spam like the post above. I get there and he is in perfect position. I run out and he wont attack me! Then I move in to try and get him his attention and he starts attacking my flagged heros instead. They were behind the line of the entrance and he still wailed them. They weren't right there on the very corner but back a little.
Would I be better off with the rit spamming shelter and union.
I know people say flag the heros but he seems to get you as you run towards him and you can't get them to run zig zag. The hench just run with you when you get the keg adding to the frustration.
Can someone suggest a H/H team that might have a chance. It just seems without PS on everyone he can blast you with two shots and it's over.
PS go ahead and flame away it might just get someone to post if the thread is active.
Thanks

Well .... I prefer the touch ranger method, but I also have found that taking an interrupt ranger Hero (Broadhead Arrow, etc.), an interrupt warrior Hero (with Defy Pain), and a healer/prot Hero -- along with Devona, Herta, Mhenlo, and perhaps Lo Sha or Zho works if you want to try the powder keg method.
What is absolutely critical though is to LOCK the ranger and warrior heroes onto Cyndr the second he pops up (they should be set to Aggressive before you even enter the room). Every time you grab a keg and head for Cyndr, CALL THE TARGET AGAIN, so that the henchmen are attacking at least part of the time. (I also have the Drop function keybound to the "." key on my keyboard to make dropping the keg faster. You sure don't want it blowing up while you're holding it. )
This approach works OK, though Cyndr will probably submerge and pop up elsewhere else at least a one or two times.
The only reasons I can think of for the Touch Rangers not to work is if you have them at low health due to +2 runes, etc. They should also be using focus items for extra energy. But, truthfully, I have run this mission many times now and the touch rangers (even when I only have two of them) have never failed me yet.

Can you interupt his Pyro shot?
I thought it was just his other skills
I just gave two of the touchers Milthurans blood staffs no runes.
Too often they start wanding instead of touching. Maybe just a focus for them.
I guess I can't micro manage very well. I will pray for a decent pug

As a monster skill, Pyroclastic Shot cannot be interrupted, I don't think -- but it can be withstood by tankish Heroes and Whirling Defensive Rangers, provided you have decent healers to support them. The interrupts are there to stop Cyndr's Bed of Coals and Flame Burst skills, which can be painful for henches and Heroes. Cyndr can also be Dazed, I think, so Dazing skills such as BHA are helpful in slowing him down.
Failing that, though, it seems like PUGs are often forming for this mission. A PUG (even a bad PUG, hehe) can make Cyndr significantly simpler to kill. Good luck!

Iuris
Of course it can be interrupted. It can't be copied and similar, and it annoyingly cannot be diverted, but interrupted it can be.
Just note it's not a spell, meaning only some interrupts will work.

He must just hate H/H I went with a pug that had several deaths before we got there. I thought to myself that it was going to suck but he was down on the first assault like he rolled over just for my benefit. I was astounded how quick it went. I guess pug was the answer to my prayers.
Not sure but can everyone grab a keg before you enter the cave?

Yeap two touch ranger heros is all you need and no need for Kegs.

This Boss is easily done by placing your heros in the center away from the lava and protective spirit someone and have him set kegs... Took him out fast.

I tried this Wurm today. When the armor is up, he is invulnerable - degens do not work while its armor is up. I kept on running bombs and he never spawned by the dwarf. I could also not interrupt his attacks. He would regen the armor in about 15 secs. Did Anet make him more difficult?

I have completed the EotN, and now want to repeat heart of the shiver peaks for another handbook, with out using a pug. Any ideas on how to repeat that quest.
Fragile Feeling
Taken from gw.gamewikis.org:
Repeat visitors (who have completed the primary, non-repeatable quest) enter and complete this dungeon without taking a quest. This is rare in that many dungeons require taking a repeatable quest to be able to complete the dungeon. Repeat visitors may find this dungeon by traveling from Central Transfer Chamber to Battledepths, then going SE to the Heart of the Shiverpeaks entrance.

Yes you are right I saw that before except that you fight magnus, unless you have the quest heart of the shiverpeaks. I would like to fight cyndr again. I think you would have to have the primary quest "against the destroyers" in order to repeat the quest "Heart of the Shiverpeaks".

There is no way to fight Cyndr without the quest "Heart of the Shiverpeaks" and you can only do that quest once. If you really want to fight Cyndr then you need to find a PuG. Sad, but true.
SaDuFam
Please check the Scrying Pool in the Hall of Monuments to re-take the mission to fight Cyndyr again.
GaaaaaH
The PuGs for this arent so bad in NM
famous phil
Thanks for the replies everyone, It is sad news that I have to get a pug to repeat it, I did check the scrying pool. but there is no option for Heart of the Shiverpeaks.
Hugh Manatee
Magnus isn't that bad, just pull his ooze guards and wipe them, then tank him while a hero mesmer keeps arcane languor and interrupts on him. Then force it(and/or all your heroes can take it with about 8 points in dom for good constant damage) to spam Aneurysm, every 5 seconds it takes 100s of points of damage from being exhausted.

Why is this mosnter so hard these days ?
It is impossible to beat this monster.
I have completed Factions, nightfall and Prophecies.
I am running Sabway and every Hero out there, and I cannot beat this monster.
WTF is ANET doing here ?
I beat this monster one year ago, with another character, and It took me
less than 1 min from the moment I entered the cave.
Now, it seems ANET has messed around with it, and its like unstoppable.
One pyroclastic shot and the whole party gets whipped.

I did this the other day with h/h on my ritualist, and had no deaths. Take advantage of the flags people, AoE doesn't need to be a problem. Also, you should have a decent hero team so you can just run kegs the hole time while they kill him. Also, because I was running kegs most of the time, I just took a spirit spam build so I could actually do damage while running.

I finally gave up on the H?H and did it with humans.
Much easier impression
Hi,
Has said before you just need to spam Kegs to kill it. After the first keg you can pretty much solo it if you want since, Cyndr the Mountain Heart doesn't attack after he gets hit by kegs. Flag your heroes/henchmen at corridor, enter the cave to spawn Cyder. Go back and wait until Cyder spawn near Budger Blackpowder. Go in and drop keg. Keep dropping kegs until is dead. You can unflag your Heroes/Henchmen because cyder will not attack any more. To spawn kegs, if you don't know, select Budger Blackpowder and press space to get keg then press Drop button. Keep pressing space key + mouse click. You can only get a new keg after the previous one exploded. In normal mode should take only a few seconds to kill him depending on your party damage. Have fun, impression White_Chaos

Helped a friend with it yesterday. Spread heroes, keg spam, no more than one gets hit by his siege, making it stupidly easy :P
Voodoo Rage
I did it with my assassin. I waded in unprepared the day before, and after wasting a bunch of consumables and clovers, I finally gave up. The next day I walked in with my sin, 3 touch rangers, and the normal henchie mix and it was an absolute joke how easily he went down... lol.
tilpo
Can someone please help me out (ingame) ? Tried it 5 times with PUG's and about 10 times solo following u'r tips, but still wont be able to do it. I'm starting to really hate this mission.
NVM i finished it with PUG but i do think this mission is very hard with H/H. Twisties
Found it impossible tonight :S Tried with H+H. Managed to drop 3 kegs on it and ...coudn't do a thing to hit it. For some reason the game disabled all my skills, kept coming up with an "Invulnabilty error, you cannot attack". This error even meant I could not use my healing or resurection spells. Since when are healing spells attack skills?
Someone said Cyndr doesnt attack after he gets hit with kegs? WRONG! You cant take more than 3 steps from the cave entrance before he blasts you to bits, let alone actually getting to the dwarf on the other side of the room and getting a keg. Flag the henchies back? Back where ... to the rez shrine? They were getting blasted at the cave entrance. Numa Pompilius
The cheap and nasty way of doing this is with degen and life stealing. No kegs, just place one necro or ranger just inside the cave entrance (with the rest of your team further back, so the healers just have to heal the necro), and let him kill Cyndr with lifesteal skills.
It's very hard to kill Cyndr with H/H without resorting to cheapness as the human player is the only one who can carry kegs, Cyndr targets the human first... and the kegs explode if hit by Cyndrs attack. So - lifesteal for the win. Twisties
What about the problem of not being able to heal or use any skills because it is disabled?
