Synergizing Hero Builds?
Nexius8510
Has anyone tried this build in Fahranur, The First City in Nightfall? I think thats what it's called. That map in HM is like my own personal bane. I think it's mainly because its only a 4 person map so. Hah, I just can't seem to get past it no matter what hero team I use. So if anyone could try it and let me know? Thanks a lot!

This looks interesting and I want to give it a try, but I have no experience with rits. These builds seem based around necro soul reaping but have alot of rit skills. What kind of weapons should be used? I have a handful of greens I can use, both death magic and curses based. Or should I be using rit weapons? I would think that the HCR and HCT would help these builds so any suggestions for weaps to use would be appreciated!

Rit weapon for the restoration guy. Death for minion bomber. Curses for the curse necro. Not really needed in my opinion, i just left the Nightbringers they had on them.

hmmm runes and insignia don't matter, now weapons don't? Thats good cause I have no rit weaps.
Well.... except for some communing stuff. I really need to try this out!

How late into EotN before you aquire the 3rd Necro Hero? I haven't been playing as frequently as I used to because of general disinterest in GW lately.
For giggles I got that rit hero from the Bison Tournament and used her with Olias and MoW to good effect in normal mode.
Sometimes these new hero team builds respark interest for me, until ANET does something else.
Man could you imagine the insanity if they had given us 7 Heros to tinker with, lol. (Yes I know PvE would be useless then, but it'd be fun to see what people came up with.)

You get Livia the third Necro for completing the quest "Finding Gadd" and the follow-up quest "Finding the Bloodstone" which is early on in the Asuran questline.

Anyone can edit a wiki article. This very article used to tell it doesnt affect minions, go figure...
The problem is there is probably no way to check if GFTE does or doesnt affect minions I remember someone testing GFTE and found out that it works on minions. He used 'Find Their Weakness' or something that causes a deepwound when you crit and it caused a deepwound on the test dummy

After running into big problems trying to vanquish the urban areas in Factions i can say the builds, although amazing, have 2 problems:
Not one single interrupt.
No ability to pre-prot.
Most of the urban area really does lack decent hench, no prot monks, no interrupters. 3 dragon stomps = party wipe. I wiped 5 times before eventually killing a lvl30 ele boss. But in my opinion, the hench flag is just a joke, in that you can't seperate them, which has led me to make a new thread in sardelac...

The minion might have landed a critical by itself, with no aid from ''GFTE!''
Everything and everyone has some chance to make a critial hit, GFTE only increases that chance. That's why I say there is, probably, no way to check if minions are affected

After reading a lot of good things about Sab's Build, i gave it a try.
I can say that it worked pretty well, but i had some problems with the minion masters hero.
When engaging battles, after aggroing, the minion masters almost every time stayed behind healing and not aggroing with his minions... whem that happened, i always had to flag the minion master closer for the minions attack. Of course, whem the enemy group have lots of melee characters, i don't have this problem, but whem they have lots of ranged or spell caster, i have to do this. I guess i'll try to diferent skills instead of the healing ones on the minion masters skill bar.

You just need to be patient and let them catch up, or force them with flagging if you feel they have enough minions to move on to the next mob.

Yeah, not to mention death nova and jagged bones. Patience is key, Olias needs time to prepare for all the beauty...

Yeah, as a Warrior, I've found I've needed to slow my roll when taking on groups of baddies. Nothing like rushing in to a group and seeing half my group way back playing catch up.

So what's the changeover from a traditional MM to a Minion Bomber? I know this article mainly deals with HM, but I hardly ever do that. Yet, I've noticed even in normal mode minions take a beating also in certain areas. So is the general consensus that blowing minions up is now more favorful among necromancers? I'm still undecided as to which I like more for my Warrior.
The undead Mesmer
Well when minions blow up they generally deal damage when they go
(death nova on em ofcourse...) a normal MM works but in HM the increase in damage and the spikes some monsters do on minions make it more worthwile to just let em explode.
Been using this build with great success for some time now thumbs up![Wink](../../Img/wink.gif)
Although in certain areas I just change MoW to a bloody N/Mo with smiting skills! heaps of fun especially against other undead haha.

I was thinking of using Zingers idea of changing the SS Necro to Spoil Victor as the Minion Bombers are always lower in health. Or maybe Reaper's Mark Icy Veins?

On a side note, I managed to clear the lagoon with this build. I managed to have the same problem untill i learned this strategy...
1. Flag heroes fairly far back(let healer be just within range but not close enough to agro)
2. head in and agro the group with the mages
3. Run around like a dumbass until the mages have wasted all their D-stomps on you.
4. Undo flags and own the group while the mages' D-stoms are recharging.
BTW: Bring the Earth Hero for Ward against melee, as it really helps against those wars using tripple chop.

Hmmmmzzz.... after reading the thread, i do hav a few questions.
1. Can the builds be used in vanquishing Eastern Frontier? (whether 4 man or 6 man party)
2. Vanquishing Dreadnought's Drift? (Having problems passing the middle mobs)
3. Vanquishing general 4 man areas in Cantha?
Btw I am a monk primary & can run most builds. Need some suggestions though. :P

I used more or less the same build to vanquish all of Tyria, so it should work for you too (only exception being Majesty's Rest). I used a 6-man party to vanquish all of Ascalon in one go with no problems. As for Dreadnought's Drift, you have to corner-block otherwise you'll get wiped by the archers.

Depends on what area. Some places you need 2 other Monks (e.g. hard mode), some places you only need one (6-man areas, easy 8-man areas).

Can I safely assume that, me going in as healer & Then I bring these 3 nec heroes to vanquish? (For the 4-man areas) Pardon me if I sound pushy. Being stuck on these areas since HM was introduced is driving me up the wall.

I didn't see this in here, but I'll post one quick experience I've had with this build:
Using myself as the SS necro and General Morhgain as general support we strolled, with no deaths, through the Dragon's Lair, on Hard Mode. It was truly C space easy. Glint herself went down in seconds, Under a minute and easy (note: I brought Finish him and Pain inverter, which worked wonders).

Thx Sab! This build has very good survivability. I started from Ruins of Surmia instead of the outpost so I started with the grawls 1st. With 4 man team (I was on a full smite bar) & it took abt 3 hrs to vanquish that area. I took party wipes 3 times because I didn't anticipate the patrols coming & the mobs are coming faster then I could kill them. I will try this builds on other areas too & post the outcome.
Rock on Sab!!!! (werara ftw! :P)

hmmm can someone elaborate more in detail on how these 3 build synergize? I know they work tremendously well, I ran it once and it was a steamroll'ing experience, but I want to know how the 3 build work together, detailed description of the functions on paper anybody? thx
malko050987
The way I see it, the Jagged Bones hero will create minions and put Death Nova and Jagged Bones on them, then use healing spells as needed. The Weapon of Remedy Hero will use the wep spells on the minions as well, causing them do to lots of health-steal damge to the enemies they're fighting. And when the minions finally die, they do so with a BOOM, courtesy of Death Nova.
The SS will target mostly the enemies, with the hexes being obivous. Weakening them, so they do little damage (and they take lots, thanks to the Life-steal mentioned above) and with Barbs+minions, ensuring that they go down fast.
I hope I got most of it ^_^ I'm going to try these later. Any suggestions on a Ranger build to go with them?
Attributes would be:
12 Curses / 12 Soul Reaping
12 Restoration / 12 Soul Reaping
and
12 Death / 9 Restoration / 9 Soul Reaping ?
Could somebody provide template codes, please.

Hey Sab, I'm enjoying your build suggestion. Any specific reason why you did not use them for Majesty's Rest? Also, how do they do in the Nightfall missions like Dzagonur Bastion or Gate of Pain?

I'm not the kind of guy for detailed comparisons and number crunching, but theres a few main points:
A) Soul Reaping activates on all your heroes, and it activates alot due to minions dying, see B). You'll notice the build has a bit of trouble getting started in areas, this is because no minions are dying.
B) Hero MM's cast Death Nova and Jagged Bones well. They can micromanage well, which means that you'll be sending a handfull of ready-to-detonate bomb into battle. Point is, monsters wail on minions, dealing the damage they'd normally deal to your party. The monsters are being loaded on with all sorts of nasty and potent hexes which can be spammed due to the awesome energy battery, see A). Minions die quickly, activating nice aoe Novas, corpses are being recycled into new minions, energy is being gained by your heroes at a huge rate, and on goes the circle...
C) In the ideal situation, your party will be dealing nice damage w/o the trouble of foes attacking you. This helps because the hero healers aren't suited well to the party taking concentrated or spikish damage, as there are no prot spirits or reversals of fortune to be found. In the worst situation, your minions will be getting no attention, not dying (and triggering Novas and Soul Reaping), and only serving as a half-decent offense. This is why you need to lure into the minions with this build, instead of charging into combat and dying wondering where Olias (and the essence of the build) is.
Hope this clarifies things a bit.

I agree with malko050987 & Jared The Faithfull. The initial startup is difficult due to the amt of energy needed to run the build & see to the synergy. That's where the weapon of remedy nec shines.
With the constant casting of Life & holding & dropping Protective was Kaolai. it provides a steady stream spike heal & of course energy. Since the update, nec's soul reaping can only gain half of the energy from the spirits that nec places, it provides some returns on energy as the mobs will target her & her spirits (since there is no minions for the mobs to target). This combined with the natural regen available to necs will allow her to keep the spirits & ashes up while casting weapon spells on the party & allies to deal massive damage until the minions are being raised.
I can only say that it is great build & it needs serious thinking to come up with this. Thx Sab

Majesty's Rest has Rotscale, which needs something special to beat. I think I ended up running a Spoil Necro, an SS Necro and a Monk with Prot Bond. As for Nightfall missions, I don't know, I haven't gotten around to getting Guardian yet. Maybe someone here can give some suggestions?

I don't have Factions but I do have some of the NF and Proph skills (and some of the Faction skills unlocked) and it works awesome. I even bring a pet so Olias has a extra body to exploit. Top stuff Sab, your team build is another reason why I'm going to get Factions

Sab, my enthusiasm for these builds is boundless! I do have one question.
The Achilles Heel of the builds seems to be the Achilles Heal (<-- pun), Spirit Light. Needs a spirit around to prevent health loss. If the Life Spirit goes down, the healer can sacrifice health. So, it would seem the more Spirits the better all around, since Mend Body and Soul removes one condition per Spirit. Now the question is, do Ranger Spirits from Nature Rituals count as Spirits as far as Spirit Light is concerned? bungusmaximus
