Drakkar Lake ice creature screens

I have a small discovery...Kind of, lol.

In the explorable area in GW:EN, Drakkar Lake, you may know there seems to be a frozen sea creature beneath the iced over lake, however this is hard to see for some due to near-opaque dark blue ice. Well with me, my graphics card is lame, so it doesn't pick up on the details on the layer of ice; making it clear as glass. (As close as I can figure at least )

As a result, I can see perfectly below everything and I have pretty good screen shots of the creature as proof, lol. I would like to add them to Guildwiki, however I'm a newbie at wiki because I've never done it before so I was hoping that someone could take this content and add it for me?
I don't know if anyone has posted such a thread before, so my bad if there is. =P

(Forgive the page stretching, I'll replace the screens with URL links if wanted)

Here are some of the screen shots:

Added 28/09/07:

The text reads: "In Eye of the North, players can find a couple of dragons resting in hibernation. The idea was to have a dragon sleeping under the ice of a frozen lake, as if he'd been there since before the area went frosty."

So, Drakkar was sleeping there and the world changed around him over hundreds of thousands of years, and now we know they're in hibernation, and not put there by the gods. So a jeepers creepers style thing is more there.

This is gonna sound corny, but the creature reminds me of the Pokemon Lugia.

Nice find.

Thanks. I was quite obsessed with the thing, because no one else knew what I was talking about, and I didn't understand why until my friend gave me some of their screens of the lake, which showed only a layer of ice.

Quite frustrating at first

I am slightly confused by such a huge giant in such a small lake. Given of course that the landscape changed significantly and oceans became deserts and vice versa, its still a stretch that such a beast occurs here way up in the mountains. That's one massive upheaval in what is geologically a short time span of GW lore! (lol isn't it funny to apply logic to a fantasy game?)

But yes, finally the mystery beast is solved! Its a beast! Swallow you whole. I wonder if the beast is what caused a certain Norn to go . . . whacky?

Thank you! ^__^

And yes, I had thought that myself seeing as it would need a vast open space to grow that large and a big food source to survive on, which deffinatly isn't in the lake (i've heard the ice golems taste a big odd and give you gas). My theory is that it was like free willy (Only ironic) and did some huge jump from balthazar-knows-where and landed in that lake, smashing the ice and becoming trapped! XD

Or it's a doomsday thing made by the Norn. =o

EDIT: You might be right thinking there's a link between that and the curse of the Nornbear, too

it looks like Lugia's body and Salamence's head :P

very, very nice finding...

perhaps it's a secret beast imprisioned by the Gods... or perhaps the ride of the Great Destroyer?

Nice pics, i think is is:

SPOILER

I think it is a creature, like the dragon Primordius, that will awaken in GW2. Just a thought.

And yes, it does somewhat remind me of Lugia.

ah! i knew it wasn't Lugia it looked like! it looks like the body of Latios and the head of Salamence! it doesn't have a tail.

the first picture though, if you look closely it seems as if it isn't even a living being but a spaceship. at least it seems to me.

If I could own that in GW2 it would pwn.

Perhaps the lake i s named after it? Drakkar is the name of a viking longboat (says guildwiki), so perhaps at some point this was used as such by the Norn?

It's pretty long in my oppinion, and moves through water.

It does have a tail. You can see it in the 2nd last screen. (My bad if you meant the other thing doesn't have a tail)

Hmmm, could be. though I was thinking a Leviathan, but I've never seen one before so I wouldn't know, lol.

Maybe it's some kind of Norn grand prize defeted and captured by an old Norn?

And there appear to be 3 or more frozen or buried Dragons in GW:EN.

This one, Primordius, and the Water dragon, all of which I assume will arise in GW2.

3 Serpent gods perhaps? All of these dragons are MASSIVE!

"There is a huge plesiosaur-like monster frozen in the lake itself. Looking through the ice will reveal this."

you know... because of the size of it... it could have evolved into what we know are Wurms!

it seems the beast is losing its wings and getting slimmier and slimmier...

imagine a wurm even bigger than Frostmaw called the Earth Eater

im bored and i like this kind of threads

just hoped someone else would reply xD

Beat EotN or look in the - The Dragon - Our Next threat in GW2? thread here. Primordus is seen at the end and is bigger than this dragon (and more active aswell)

And this is indeed the "Dragon of Snow and Ice" that awakens.

These creatures could be former tools of Abaddon in his coup for the power of the 5 gods, and they were sealed off just like him.

They could also be linked to the titans, (maybe their great great grand parents?)

They could also be Dragons like Glint who were wageing war with eachother but Glint wtfpwned them and sealed them up.

They could even be primal gods that came before the tyrian gods.

I think the primal "True giants" thing is the most likely, because no way that thing could live in a lake that size. So perhaps all that time ago it was a sea?

Like, the crystal desert was, so who's to say it never happened here? lol

By the way he's mine (That's right I claim him) and I'm going to name him Drakkar assuming the lake was named after him. (It's a him because I say so, nurr)

Well it obviously wasn't originally living in a lake that size. =P We find fossils of fish in deserts and in valleys. It's likely that the whole area was vastly water and this receded back. Maybe from an earthquake?

The less water there, the faster it will freeze. The little guy probably settled in that area there, since it is deeper, as the water receded back. The lake became lower and began to freeze over. Result - dragon in suspended animation.
