Why do some of you keep playing?
Sir Green Aluminum
I and an assasin personally beat Eye of the North and only got Rank 2 and 3 on max on the race titles, the ele armors are really just meh and I like the old ones better so I'm not buying any, but i'm going to go grind for the titles with the assasin so that it can get the Asuran armor. But personally I would say that I liked it better when you just had to fight/run your way to the outpost when you had the money and buy your armor. Not grind for a title that grants energy in the Asuran area because I already worked for my money in the age of the first campaign and I don't to farm anymore.
I think the people who are complaing about the grind are complaining because the grind is to get the stuff they bought eye of the north for, the armors. The dungeons are'nt even what they hyped it up to be, the pve skills aren't required to go around the dungeons and solve puzzles. Heros armor, I don't even bother with complaining about it I just bought the damn things for the cloth ones, but the 100% drop from Slaver's exhile I'm going for, but I heard you can't even display which set they're wearing.
Anyways I keep playing now after many breaks to convert all my platnium into Hall of Monument assets so I can reclaim them in Guild Wars 2, an explaination from Anet on the armor bring over would be nice though, I assume it's just going to be clothes worn over something that gives actualy def pts. I don't play this full time like I used to in Proph which most of my /played is, the rest in Eye, I switch bettween this and WoW and console RPGS. Don't even say WoW is worthless grind because the grind is ez and U get actually strength for it, difference between title grind and exp grindu.

What a sad turn this thread took...It was actually a pleasent read until it took yet another turn into grind talk.
Anyways, I still play Guild Wars because it's still pretty entertaining. With all the content it has, it really made me wish that I just picked it up today. Someone'll pick up Prophecies and say "This is GREAT!", then rush out to buy the other campaigns, and you know what? He's gonna have a blast. Man, that would be one kick-ass weekend, getting totally hooked to a game - with loads of content - that you've never touched. What a feeling...

I keep playing because it's a beautiful game with always something to do.
Just on the PVE side only - quests, missions, challenge missions, dungeons, farming, just hanging out and chatting, trading etc.
And somehow they managed to make a beautiful game repeatable and replayable in completely different ways when using different classes.
UAX is always something to strive for.
Heroes are just way cool and story is great.
Oh and it doesn't have a monthly fee pressuring me to play and pay

I spend a lot of time on Guild Wars a day, actually, and have no idea how I manage to spend more time actually getting out of the house to do stuff.
Sunspear grind is only really annoying when you move a foreign character to Elona. I wasn't actually complaining about Sunspear/Kurzick/Luxon faction, just pointing out that you need to aquire them to progress through Factions and Nightfall.

I still remember the day I started playing GW. The feeling of being blown away by how gorgeous pre-searing was. I am inclined to agree with what Bryant said a few posts ago . . . I, too, wish I had just picked up GW today.
What keeps me playing is that this is a game that can be played at a leisurely pace and that is what works for me. With a full-time job and a girlfriend and friends and family there's not a lot of time to play. Mostly early mornings on weekends pretty much (though winter is coming and I will be stuck indoors for the next 5 months). Have all the campaigns but it took me 20 months just to finish Prophecies.
Good times.

My best reason is that with all three campaigns and the expansion, even someone with only one character could keep finding new things to do for a very long time. A close second is the no monthly fee.

I keep uninstalling because I have to do work/school work. But then in inevitably reinstall because I think up a new build idea or want to try out a new area or build I find on the forums. I've been playing for two years and I can say no other game has managed to hold my attention for that long.
Even when I play one aspect of the game to death (pve or pvp, for instance) I find myself coming back to play the other side of the game. GW offers very unique experiences that are practically games unto themselves. That is why I keep playing...though the only complaint I've ever had is that they nerfed the 55 monk and loot drop...I loved 55 farming when it first came out and I wish to death I could still do it

Not sure why you'd want to "get out of the house to do stuff" though. I hope the day never comes when I have to actually leave home to be entertained... It'd be just like when I was a kid and the only thing I could do to amuse myself was climb trees... and like any other game, it has limited replay value.
Not that it really matters.... but I don't really farm for money (tends to be less interesting). I get that from regular play mostly. I only farm for rare items and weapon skins... and happen to get money while I'm doing it. Most of the weapons are warrior fare though... and my warrior can't even use them (Pre-Sear)... Crazy... huh?
Was totally chuffed when I salved that Geode into a Sapphire the other day. ^_^

At least not from Pre-Sear.
I love Shing Jea island... and pretty much all of Factions.... but I never liked most of Prophecies. Only the Shiverpeaks and the deeper parts of the Maguuma Jungle ever really appealed to me. Honestly, I preferred Post-Sear Ascalon to Pre-Sear.... if only for those huge purple crystals.... These days the divide is even more extreme, as nothing will make you sick of Pre-Searing faster than grinding for the LDoA title. It will be worth it in the end then. I'll be able to take my Warrior out and announce to the world with one statement that she is a queen of grind (and has many deaths to her name)!

When I got nothing better to do and to talk with people I've become friends with. I've got nothing better to do a lot, so I'll just stand around in Grotto and chat. Or go afk and do things outside or inside on the net.
I have been playing EotN though, doing dungeons here and there. Trying to make money.

And make silly youtube videos with high squeaky voices.

I wish I could make silly youtube videos with high squeaky voices....
... but I don't even know how.
When I get my new computer and get copies of the Guild Wars campaigns for my girlfriend though, I plan on setting up a Paragon synchronised dance group with her though... and then I WILL get jiggy with the YouTube....

Sadare
I have not long come back to GW, after getting Eye ofthe North it rekindlked my interest in the game for me. Am enjoying playing it all over again, with some of my older chars. Ive been away from it to long and is nice to come back and enjoy it all again.

I only play to be with my guild and to film machinima. GW lost my interest since end 2005 - but I cannot find a community that is better than the guild I'm in. Plain and simple. I've bought Factions, NF and EotN mainly so I can have more filming environments to play around in lol - and yes, I'm serious. I like GW graphics, AB and select missions, that's about it.

EotN - Makes me want to advance the storyline; a feeling that hasn't been felt since prophecies.
GW2's Gonna rock.

My answer is simple: I'm not done. :P
14 months of play and I've only beaten nightfall and prophecies. I even skipped most of the white mantle/desert portion of proph because those missions SUCK (I did go through them with a long deleted character a year ago). So I technically didn't "beat" proph, but enough so I know the story and enough that the game thinks I did everything. I still have HM so I don't care.
I also have NO maxed titles whatsoever, only two account-wise titles (r1 lux, r2 kurz) so I won't be happy with those 'till I get them to about r3+.
And hell, I don't even HAVE Eye of the North yet.
I enjoy casual PvP like AB, and my guild community is damn nice.
That's why I'm still playing.

It's just... good. I don't have fow, I don't have chaos gauntlets, I don't have KoaBD r10. I just build up on my characters one little piece at a time. I just got my SF statue in the HoM. Just got my Black Moa chick.. It's great!
Buster
People complain but still play because they want Anet to make things better because they like their Guild Wars.

When prophecies was release it was the best game ever. That chapter blew me away. And the PvP was IMMENSE! Then Factions came out...was a bit dissapointing, but I actually quite liked it and also the Jade Sea thingy was helluvacool. IMO.
Then PvP started to go downhill, and NF was released...went downhill more. Heroes killed PvE (not that I did much PvE anyway but still...oh yea and also - PvE in this game is piss poor due to the limits you have to actually develop your character. I stil have no idea why people spend so much time in PvE). And then I finally said, oh screw it. I CBA with this anymore. It will never be the same as the old Prophecies days I loved so much.
I loved my time playin GW but...IMO it just isn't the same as it used to be. A lot of hardcore PvP'ers quite around the same time as I did anyway, a load of 'em I played all the time with.
(oh yea and WTF is up with the report system...you gotta be joking...)

Why do I still play? Because I like the game. No matter how disappointed I am about changes to one part of the game, there is always something else for me to enjoy doing.
