Gah ... I don't even have a mobile phone. Again, extra expenses just to meet payment reqirements. Oh, and the fishy requirement for a mobile phone sounds like they're gonna charge you with unrequested messages.

If Arenanet would have loyalty towards its loyal customers, we shouldn't have to go through shady deals to purchase all content.

Can't the bonus pack be added to every account that activated GW:EN through that time? I didn't activate my copy through PlayNC, I guess I'm screwed, but isn't GW:EN around the price for the bonus pack?

Not Belgium and for what I've heard not the Dutch either. Although, they can use paypall without credit cards, while Belgium still cannot do that either.
And the large German protest did seem to indicate they don't have it either.

If you think the whinning is bad now just wait until the bonus pak is released and that other 98% of the community who don't visit websites and forums find out they can't get the bonus mission pak. This could turn into the major whine of the century. I will have popcorn ready and coke. I really hope the unique rewards for these missions are some really gotta have green items and these missions drop golds never seen before. That would be the icing on the cake I'm sure.

People are saying that it's not fair that those that bought GW:EN in store don't get the bonus missions..would it be fair to those that decided to buy GW:EN in the ingame store at a higher price than in the stores, that the bonus mission pack was open to all.....
I would say no to that...if the bonus mission pack was offered to those with the boxed set, even at a price I would demand that a-net made a similar offer to those that bought the game online to get the content of the box.

Personally I paid around 10% more for the game by getting it from the ingame store compared to what some of my friends gave for the boxed version of the game. I only bought it in the ingame store to get the acess to the mission pack.

Ive never heard of them in the UK and no one ever talks about them or promotes them, so they either dont exist in the UK or their not being promoted.

You can say their as safe as you like, I would never trust using any form of credit card and as you mentioned.. my arguement against people not having debit cards is valid.

So there is good reason why its not fair on some customers to only sell online when you have other products in highstreet stores.

But as I also said, surely selling more at a lower price on the highstreet will make up or any loss in price?

the big draw was no monthly fee which will still pull in the customer especially since it looks much better so far.

they will balance it with a generous amount of fresh free content while giving all those players with cash to burn (haircuts etc) supporting the playable content for all of us.

WRONG

i am a retail customer
no matter if i got it direct online, mail order, or went into a physical brick and mortar store.

i am retail...........this is a promotion for content.....NOT EARLY ACCESS TO SAME

this will not be

If you don't buy it now within the next few days you will NEVER get it, this will not be sold in stores or the ingame store at a future date. It's a marketing gimmick to get you to spend your money NOW so they have it for GW2 production.

So, seriously, SHUT THE FUDGE UP. You really don't know anything at all on this topic, so go away.

All I ask is that NC Soft inplement an alternative means of payment like Google Checkout, or Paypal.

The lack of monthly fee is no longer a trademark of only Guild Wars. Competitors have appeared and more will.

I'd rather have ways to pay for everything, than getting free extras supported by unobtainable extras.

Making all content purchaseable by everyone and add goodies for Online Store clients:

Are you trying to make a point on semantics? You know well enough what I meant: those you call "brick and mortar store" clients.
Now that that has been corrected ...

No, it's a promotion for the Online Store; once that objective is obtained, why wouldn't they attempt to recuperate the brick&mortar-store customers and maximalise profit?

Future planned promotions? What would you know about that?
Also, more similar promotions will only do more harm to Arenanet's public image.

Now or never? After that, they don't want my money? That would be kinda stupid, since under those conditions, they would earn nothing from alot of potential customers.

Uhm, slightly off-topic, but please point out a few of these so called competitors, and if you're referring to Hellgate, you may want to check just what you get if you don't pay, as opposed to if you sign up for a monthly fee.

It hasnt actually been decided 100% what you get with an elite account and without an elite account on hellgate. The only thing that is certain is with an elite account you get new quests, dungeons, armor and weapon about every 3-6 months.

But those extra weapons and armor arent any more powerfull then what you get with a free online account. They just look nicer! Their tryng to avoid having elite gear that is only available to paying players!

The game company is also talking about releasing those extra quests and dungeons as expansions in stores! So it would work out as the same machanism as GWs and simply be a choice of paying monthly and getting the updates sooner or waiting for the expansion.

Hellgate is looking to be very similar to GWs in mechanism, if not identical. You will also get alot more from the free side of hellgate then you would most pay-monthly games on the market from what I read.

So you still getting alot from the free side of it.

I'm gonna be playing hellgate myself once its out on the free side...

...and ill just hope expansions are released for the extras.

But what makes me laugh is that even Hellgate will have grind to it! All MMO/RPGs do!

Thats just it. you may feel like they have, but they haven't...yet. The GW business model originally had that annoying (to the devs and promoters, I'm sure) phrase that stated they would never sell content outside of campaigns. The EotN expansion is skirting a fine line with this statement. Show where Anet says that they will distribute all content to all retail customers.

That, and restated versions thereof, are the only official concrete statements Anet ever made about content. If you have others, feel free to post and refute me. I don't mind being wrong.

I think you misread what they posted for what you wanted to hear. I've never seen them say that on the official website (or from Gaile without a modifier "as far as i know" or "we have no plans to at this time"; the woman must have been spoon-fed silver as a child for all the stuff that comes out of her mouth without ever actually saying anything). What they have said back when GWP was new was that they would never sell content separately. While the definition of content has changed several times since the online store went live, missions and quests still fall under that line.

If they sold you content (missions & quests) stand alone as supporters are suggesting then they will have lied. But they aren't selling the BMP in any form...its a bonus for using the online store during the promotion. So no; they don't look like liars. They look like lawyers. I know thats comparing apples and apples, but...

There is no going back if they do what you're asking them to. If they sell you the BMP separately as a non-game in the online store, they have crossed every line. They will have lied--the proof being on their site--to every player who purchased the game in 2005 and beyond.

This is a promotion to increase the use of the online store and reward those who do with a small bonus mission pack. What its not is a add-on mission pack that is only available from the online store. It's important to understand this difference, though it may be subtle to you.

If you can't find ANY means to use the online store, than I suppose that is unfortunate. I couldn't win the mini panda because I don't live in Taiwan, but oh well - life goes on. You have to put things in perspective, they are not taking away any part of the game, its just a small promotion.

For those that are too scared to use a credit card or a pre-paid card, no disrespect, but boo-hoo I guess. My grandma is scared of PC's but she isn't on here demanding the mission pack be available as a sewing machine plug-in.

For those who don't have credit cards (I only have a debit card, but that works. Cut up all the credit cards.) you have the option of a debit card through your bank -or- a pre-paid credit card. In addition, I know that the online store is looking into other means of payment... hopefully they pull that off soon.
Thats correct.

It may be unfair, but Arena.net needs to make money somehow.

And because there is no way in our power to change this, there is no reason to discuss it. If Anet decides to change their mind, it won't be based on this thread.
