Actually, I used to have a Visa card some years ago. It didn't take money directly out of my bank account. It worked as a revolving credit with a limit I could set myself, and I got monthly bills with quite a steep interest. It got flagged when I applied for a mortgage when I bought my first house. Since I only used it for very infrequent online purchases, I ditched it. I never had any kind of need for one since then. (Except to spend a teensy tiny amount in the terribly limited ANet online store.)
If Visa has different kinds of cards over here, they're woefully inept at marketing them, because despite living over here for my entire life, I never heard of it.

Wait, what? We eliminated the need for a costly, fraud-prone 1950s payment system and
we are the ones behind the times? Dream on.

Well, you know, if they don't want our money, good for them.
