Do you care about a PUG's titles when PvEing ?
cosyfiep
titles mean almost nothing so I dont bother to care what people are showing when I group with them, I will check them out in towns just to see what's popular to be showing.......
draxynnic
Generally, I'm more concerned with party balance and making sure that other people's builds don't conflict with mine (I remember one aggravating occurance before build pinging was introduced where I spent a lot of time - as another team member, not as the leader - before going in trying to get the other Ritualist on the team to reveal what spirits they had, and they didn't deign to give a response. Sure enough, when we went in, there was an overlap - when if they'd bothered to answer my question I'd have been happy to switch to something else). I generally will remind people to display zone-appropriate titles, though.
If I get a situation where I have more invite requests than remaining slots in the team (and profession isn't an issue in the decision of who to take), I might check for any area-appropriate titles to decide which to take, but I won't kick or refuse to admit anyone based on title.

I don't even look at titles.. I have a neat little checklist for leading groups:
1) Does your build suck?
----> If yes, are you willing to change it? If not, kick
2)Do you spell like you're typing with your elbows? If so, almost always kick. Almost everyone who can't take the time to spell is a complete 'tard. Seriously.
3) Are you a douchenozzle? If so, kick.

Titles mean nothing. Most of them, at least. But I really cannot think of a title that makes me assume I have a good player before me.
I dragged a guildie along to Vanquisher and Legendary Guardian, and he is such a bad monk that Alesia would shiver. But full obsidian armor and PKM in title track.
Go figure.
Besides that, people pugging with complete strangers, was that not dead way in 2005?

Explodie
Mostly i play pugs with people i know or yesterday with people i didnt know, and never seen the build from
We started with Gate of Pain and it was easy, then we got to Gate of Maddness and it went easy, then 4 people had to leave, so we where left with 4.
So we said lets all take a healer henchmen for Abadon, we finished Abadon in 13 minutes.
So yeah i care about PUGs, and i like to be in a pug that you dont even know the people his build, so you will get suprised with a complete ownage or a got owned ^^
But when i play with we dont get HP <70% ^^

I don't care about titles, if the person knows how to play the role I want it'll be shown by them having a non-idiotic skillbar, and that's enough for me in PvE.

And by proxy that includes the Gate of Madness too.... but nowhere else. If Shiro isn't involved then no Luxons for me. It doesn't mean I actively antagonise them at every given oppurtunity, but I see no reason to associate with them most of the time as they are a bunch of uncouth savages.
You have NO idea how awkward it is for my characters to get Protector of Cantha when Gyala Hatchery involves fighting my fellow Kurzicks alongside the gypsy-pirates. I usually do it a few times in a row... and let the Kurzick attack-squads kill the turtles twice for every time I take them through. It is typically justifiable by reminding myself that the attack squads are probably all from House Vasburg... and I never like them much anyway (I have closer ties with Brauer and Lutgardis).

I only look at titles in AB and even then it doesnt effect my desicion to join/take that person - i'm just generally curious as to if they AB often. Never really cared about what titles other people have/what factions people are from as i have seen people with pretty high ranked titles who play aweful.

He used
1. no healing breeze
2. but also no prot spirit
in hard mode. "Prot Spirit is not necessary", and I am glad I brought Ogden along. He think that prot prayers suck and are ideally done by a specialized protector, which should be the hero.
His favorite build contains Light of Deliverance + Heal Party for mega healing, as he said.
But this is nothing compared to his Ranger builds. He decided to play monk because he is a better monk than ranger.

The only reason why I pug nowadays is to help stragglers through a mission when I'm bored. Judging those by their titles would be raqther counter productive :P.

I don't care about titles when I pug, they don't define skill. I look at titles when im in towns just because im curious, but when im actually playing the game titles are worthless.
trielementz
not in other campaigns, but gwen changed that a bit. when groups have limited places left, the person who has the relevant title will get picked usually.

Oh... and I doubt ANYONE EVER would max out the Kurzick / Luxon title track JUST for getting a max rank title. Even Wisdom and Treasure Hunter are less grindy than that.

They seem to be multiplying!
Had an ex-guild who thought that the most über build for a monk consisted of those two skills. ONLY those two skills.
Although I doubt he played a ranger - so it seems they are breeding!

Something really needs to be done about that.... besides trying to separate them all with individual flags.

weather they are PvE or PvP just have to be at them long enough and you'll get it, if your good you'll get it faster, and this counts for all titles, protector, vanquisher, hero, Commander.
jsut some titles say your at somthing longer, which presumes you've more exp. (not saying that is 100% true)
Raganark
Even though I`m a lover of titles personally ,I like seeing them on my character I don`t look for it in pugs
Kusandaa
I don't generally care for someone's titles. However, if they have like KoaBD and such I DO expect to know what they're doing... which sometimes has been proved totally wrong. And it's sad. I also know quite a few R9 who have no idea AT ALL on how to work in PvE, and call you a noob when you tell them not to do something, they do it anyways and they die or mess up in a way the group is wiped... then they blame everyone else.
And that's why I partially don't care anymore. You can suck and have titles... and some title-less people are actually pretty good.

ValaOfTheFens
I never look at people's titles when puging with them. The only one I ever display is Lightbringer(except in the case of my Mesmer who has Survivor) because its the only one that has any real use. Once some guy asked all the Sunspear Generals to stand next to him and there was this huge mass of them. I had a screen of it but I lost it when I did a system wipe.
Gonzo
If I decide to pug I hardly look at titles.
On a sidenote: SotiCoto, I'm in a Kurzick guild, but I have a Luxon armor. Would you pug with me (not that I actually pug, but let's say I do).

Drop of Fear
i dont pretend ppl to have any given title to join my group, but if u have a guardian or a vanquisher i'd expect that u know how to play without the need to give directions during the mission/dungen/vanquish.
legendary master of the north, specialy if accomplished this early, makes me sure that i'm playing with sum1 that knows dungeons at least

I kick anyone in my pug who says any of the following:
1. wut r ur pve titles?
2. r u kurz or lux?
3. healing breeze is gud.
4. i refuse to change my crappy bar cuz i prefer to let better players carry my weak butt.
5. i roleplay in gw/forums/life.
6. gogogogo
Thanks to this, my pugs never fail.

On the right side.
What is my Necro wearing?
Armour is armour.
I can appreciate German WW2 Tanks without being a Nazi supporter.
I can appreciate Luxon Armour without supporting the Luxons.
[When people quiz my necro about her 15k Luxon armour, I usually reply that it is made of the woven bodies of 15,000 Luxons.]

thing is i dont wanna pug up with some dude i constantly have to direct threw a mission....
i mean today i was doing unwaking waters hard mode(got masters easy as pie) and some dude just simply asked, "Gloria could u please help as i notice how u HAVE protector of cantha" i said shore i slapped him in my group of henchies and heros didnt even have to ping my build he was that confident"
another group asked me to help with the wild's in prophecies cus i had my protector of tyria title on show, i said shore just listen to me and watch for my lure/stay back lines and they all did no problems.
(i change my protectors title per campaign)
in night falls i dont have a title and no 1 wants to ever pug up(5 masters away from title, but my computer wont log into certain areas) and i cant get the heros needed(well i have magrid the sly but not master of whispers) for the 3 non torment missions....i cant go past Gate of Pain *got masters* but wont let me in the area outside to continue with the primary quest!!
simple answer is yes PPL care about titles, but theres those who think a good build from each character will get them threw(dont work like that)
(i dont pug up much but whne i do its either cus some 1 needs my help, or i need some1 who knows the mission(rarely ever)

I don't pug much these days, but I remember that I only looked at their armor and titles if they started to give off that "noob wibe" like a necro asking what SS was when we asked if he could set up for that
I like to give people a chance to prove themselves before I pass any kind of judgement,- but having failed many, many times in the past while pugging I feel somewhat justified in being careful now, so I can at least give some advice on a good build before its to late and the entire team is pushing up daisies with the enemy MM's pulling minions out our butts

The first time around, I really don't care. If we fail, 2nd time I ask them to ping their skills. As for titles, I could really care less.
Equaliser
I do look sometime but it never factor into forming a pug group.
I think the main reason is that you can't seen title in the search menu only class, name, and district.
Title doesn't mean much. I have met plenty of people who have "cool" title who are more interested in showing off their 1337ness then completing the mission.
So haven't people with "cool" title isn't alway a good thing.
