Only logged in for a bit but got used to it within minutes. It's a really subtle change to be honest, so I'm not sure what all the childishness is about.

Not too bad really. Though the distance is slightly messed up. Appears to be around Flatbow/Longbow range when they go normal colours, a little outside aggro circle

I do like it. You can know now what is within earshot without a glance to the radar.

i personally can't stand it in pvp. a red team on a reddish map makes their names almost invisible. it's horrid!

I dont like it. Things fade unnecessarily in towns and even in GH and sometimes are harder to see. I do appreciate the idea, but fail to see why Anet would go and randomly implement something like this without a toggle for it in Options so at least no one would be unhappy.

Unnecessary change to the UI. If we had wanted an addition like this, we would have asked for one. It's nice to see Anet working on things we don't need while not working on the things that should be worked on. I guess history does repeat itself.

Can't for the life of me figure out why this was added, but at least give us the choice like the damage number toggle bar. I do not like the way the names fade - makes it very hard when scanning a battle field after a rolling fight for drops; and makes distinguishing things in large towns very difficult.

I'd sure like to be able to turn off this new feature. No use going into the reasons - pretty much all the negatives have been listed. It could have been a good feature - it would work for me, for instance if distant object appeared in a different color (at the same intensity as close objects).

My big issue is that if you play at a small screen res, like 800x600 or 1024x768 it's not a huge deal. But when you get to the larger res' like 1280x1024 and bigger the letters are already pretty small and then making them 'dim' makes them very hard to read.

i would rather it changed so farther object names have a different color. for example, enemies will become pink and then purple.
currently, it is impossible to tell if AB npcs from far away are dead or alive by just looking because of the faded letters. and i also dread what it will be like on darker guild halls, like fire isle and corrupted isle.
