Polymock is not fun!

I found polymock fun and easy, sorry not trying to rub your nose in it but maybe its just not the mini-game for you.
If you are really haveing a hard time and absolutely must aquire those pve skills then just go buy one gold peice from another player and you can walk through all of the opponents with ease.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who finds Polymock extremely difficult and unfun
Like OP, i jus want the summon spells... lol... My friend taunts me with his Ruby Djinn every chance he gets.. :P
I've given it a good try, and i'll probably try again soon but yeah... Not really interested in pulling out my hair over this silly little "game of skill".
PvP Polymock Ftw.
Now THAT would be fun :3

It started out kinda confusing, then after I got the trick, I won every single matchup and haven't lost since. A really badly designed minigame in terms of learning curve.

Has it ever occured to you that perhaps polymock is easier for others because they have more experience in a wide range of professions? I have only ever played necro, ranger and elemental. That means I dont have a forgone knowledge of how to use certain skills like some would.
And as I said in my OP, if I stick at it im sure I will accomplish polymock and get what I wanted. But I was trying to point out it just isnt fun and its frustrating to play.

The gold pieces have 5000 HP, so even if you suck at polymock (did I say suck?), you can still beat the hardest computer opponent with 3 gold pieces. I managed to beat all computer opponents with 2 purple pieces (which I got as polymock reward), and 1 gold naga Shaman piece that I bought. The Shaman is my trump card and I use it to win the first 2 rounds per match, and then win the 3rd with ease with extra pieces to boot. I concidered that, but absolutely no one is/was selling polymock pieces from what I could find. Plus I expect the prices are out of my ranger right now. tyche7

Polymock blows some serious chunks - AND sucks some serious balls. Effendi Westland
I only wish they added extra 5000 hp opponents and when beating them you can buy some new elite armor
The Meth
For me polymock was dead easy, I beat all of them in under an hour. I didn't even notice that gold and purple pieces have more health then others, I was using 2 white and 1 purple the whole time. If I had known other people would have so much trouble with polymock I would have saved that gold piece instead of doing that useless tournament.
I have nothing against giving skills based on skill instead of grind (what an idea! we should build a game around this concept!) and I think that polymock is a good example of that. The only problem I see is that people with slower connections are at a disadvantage. But that is true for most of the game, it only becomes worse in polymock. Even with a high ping you should be able to win by buying a few gold pieces. A friend of mine was trying to sell a gold wind rider for something like 40k and still couldn't sell it, so the demand must be pretty low now. I think he's asking 25k now, that's pretty cheap for making all the matches a breeze. We need pvp polymock!!! Pick Me
Has any one actually purchased a gold polymock from someone?
I've given the Gold poylmock you get from beating the Master and a purple from my Monk to my Ritualist. I beat the guys they sent me to, and two of the 3 guys you get to before the master. Now I don't get the quest for the last guy nor the Master Polymock. Does anyone know if this is a bug or am I screwed from the last two guys? If I'm screwed, then there should be a warning to others, do not get other polymocks from people, it would screw you in the end. I'm hoping its a bug, because I have no quest for fighting the last Polymock guy. Coverticus

If you're screaming at the screen while playing Polymock you plain suck. For a start, I personally don’t scream at the screen when being beaten at Polymock. Yes, I find this part of the game frustrating and hopefully, as freekedoutfish has said, I will also beat this in my own way and time. While you may have found this easy to play, others have not but that does not mean they “suck”. Flaming people because they are inferior to your superior polymock skill only proves one thing – you yourself are lacking in skills elsewhere. Cobalt

Yea they are expensive I have seen them going for 30-80k+

You know, you could share your trick with all the frustrate people here...
As someone who still needs several tries to get past Blaarp, I'd love a way to beat him on the first attempt with the rest of my characters. w00t!

After being told this I beat polymock with 2 characters in about 30 minutes. So, too hard to get started. Once you figure it out, too easy. A sign of a poorly designed mini-game. But at least it's just a mini-game, and not a deal breaker for GW:EN To further clarify, in step 3 cast your cheap 1 point spell (the one in spell slot one) until it is blocked and interrupted. It will take a couple minutes to get the pattern down, and you will still lose pieces, but you will win every game. I can't take credit for this, as I was told by a guildie, but it works every time. ADAPT and l2p As I said, im sure I will. Also FYI Im not rolling in gold. Im one of those rare people who saves up for weeks and months to buy things and works my ass off for the gold and materials I need. Then im back to 0 gold as I am right now. Then I start saving! I dont farm and I dont trade. I just sell everything I get to the merchant! So NO, I dont have loads to splash out on gold polymock pieces! Kaida the Heartless
I'm not paying 90k+ for three summon skills because the game is rigged. Make the first time through a joke, then, if you think this game is entertaining for some reason, every time after that can be much harder.

I do that. In fact, you can find a much earlier post by me that is so similar to yours that you could have saved the time writing and just copied mine. That tactic does not, without a stretch of good ping to go with it, beat Blaarp first time, every time.
My record for polymock during a period of good connection speed is 6 tries for Blaarp and one try for the others. When my connection starts heading up over 300ms (which is all too often), the number of tries Blaarp takes goes up exponentially. I was hoping holymasamune had a real "surefire" method that I hadn't heard of yet, instead of a just "decent" method that was written up weeks ago. Aw well. Chthon

Unless you're talking about going back and doing him again with tournament rules? Then I'd say you're right, our shared tactics are more than good enough to beat him 3-2 or even 3-1 under tournament rules, even with bad ping. It's that first battle when you've only got 3 whites and 1 purple to choose from and he's fielding 3 purples that's a beeeotch. Pick Me

This is incorrect. The Necromancer guy was in a town I've never travelled to. So my Monk had to specifically travel to Tarnish and challenge him.
Once you beat the 3 weak polymockers, you are given the choice to face 3 of the more experienced polymockers. Then beat them and you face the master. My Ritualist beat the first 3 poylmockers using the gold Iboga that my Monk won from the Master. Then I got the other polymocks from 2 of the 3 experienced poylmockers, but the last polymocker doesn't appear (as in no quest for him). Thus, I cannot face the Master with my Ritualist. White knight lord
I have only played polymock a few times and well...fighting the same foe basically kinda sucks its all about who is quicker..the player or the NPC..I this it is a sad attempt at a mini game but w/e I don't play it and no one forces me so I am just giving my opinion on this matter which is polymock bites.
Trelliz
I finished polymock the other day, i am NEVER going to play it again, however i'm keeping the iboga piece in storage, because as soon as i sell it or something they're going to do something to polymock to make it a necessity, and i'll be without a gold piece
and the summon skills aren't THAT good anyway. Sheriff

Don't forget that fun is relative. Just as you find it difficult and boring, someone else might feel its easy and a good break from regular PvE. You don't need those Summon skills, but if you want them, you HAVE to work for them.

Only character I play polymock with is my mesmer. Simply for the purpose of getting that spell. That and mesmers are the only class that can boost such PvE spells to their full power without a significant investment in time title grinding.
Kaida the Heartless
What work? You mean buy a gold Polymock from someone else and crush them? There's no work involved. Polymock is retardedly hard. Fighting a computer with interupts/blocking is bs, especially when your on a 200-300 ms lag.
Targuil
How i didn't find this any hard?
Kaida the Heartless
Blarp can take his 3 elementals and shove 'em up his asuranhole. Three purples /w the ping and ai advantage over a human with a single purple and all whites.
gg. chowmein69
i t hink polymock is fun

I enjoyed polymock but thought it was far too easy and it is pointless doing it after you have beat everyone. I think there should be a polymock pvp implemented sometime soon.
Vamis Threen
I hate Polymock. But I don't have to play it so I'm not complaining. So what if I don't have any summoning spells? It's not like there aren't enough overpowered PvE-only skills already.......

to all the people out there that find it annoying and hard - wtf did u want , make it too easy and it's no challenge . yes blarp was a pain in my ass but the key here is
patience persistence knowledge btw just beat grulhammer with 350 ping with there 3 peice's earth vs dredge skale vs doylak iboga vs dwarf ( ok , so i bought a peice , no regret's ) as for tactic's i used a different method , mine was - polymock block glyph of concentration either 2nd or 3rd polymock skill power drain 1st poly skill ( keep spamming this till poly block is recharged ) combination of the above with ether signet once ur energy hit's zero yes it ain't easy , but PERSISTENCE PAY'S OFF !!!!!!!!!! now if u don't mind , gonna go level my djinn up to level 20 like i said b4 , patience persistence and knowledge will help u beat this game btw , to all u complaining about ping , try international district , if ur not already in that dis , for me has cut ping time's massively ( i'm in australia and in int dis my average ping is bout 200-250 ) freekedoutfish

yes it ain't easy , but PERSISTENCE PAY'S OFF !!!!!!!!!! I never said persistance wouldnt pay off. Re-read my OP and you will see I clearly stated that if I kept at it, no doubt I would complete it.
The point is that its not fun to replay, at all IMO! It just gets more and more frustrating the more you try. Then once you do beat the foe, the reward for doing so is an anti-climax.
A tiny amount of rep points, a one off new polymock piece and then onto the next foe to fight!

I would hate to think I took up your precise time! Hmmm... I like polymock. I also like the Norn Tournament, but I find the Norn tournament is a lot worse than Polymock. Polymock - beat one enemy and gain some Asuran points and a game piece Norn Tournament - beat one enemy and you are sent directly to the next opponent (nothing to show for it) Polymock - finish the entire thing and you gain more skills (total enemies 6) Norn Tournament - finish the entire thing and you gain a skill or two, an item (total enemies 5) The stupid thing is, you lose, you start all over again for the Norn Tournament, unlike Polymock. You must pay 100g to enter the Norn Tournament, you pay nothing for the Polymock game. If people want it to be fun, what do people find fun? I like Polymock because it is challenging, and it depends on a players' skill, not the character's skill bar. This is not like facing your doppleganger, where you can load your skill bar with nature spirits or pet skills and just hit space bar and have the enemy die. No fun there. You want a sense of accomplishment, do something where you can actually say, "yeah, I beat you at your own game! I win!" Farming for IDS, money, materials, doing runs, etc. Why do people do it? Because people find it easy and quick. Is it fun? Probably not, but who knows. Personally I would have no problems selling my polymock pieces, even gold ones. The only reason why I would use my gold polymock is because after you beat them all, they up the challenge by requiring you to have 1 white, 1 purple and 1 gold. Each enemy is easy once you know their pattern. I move around a lot with my characters, so I can avoid many attacks. Learn your enemy's spell order and you can stop them from hitting you with their most harmful spells. Good luck to all those who have a hard time doing it. Only 2 characters that I have have beaten the polymockers (except my Rit still has 2 more to face, because I used the gold from my Monk to beat most of the other polymockers and now I can't face the last two for some reason - there is no quest for them ). So I won't sell or give away any polymocks until I am sure that doing so will not screw anyone else. White knight lord
Sad to say GW isn't on the top of my gaming list but when EoTN came out I had fun until I played Polymock...I really don't see the "fun" (as everyone claims) in that "fun game". Polymock is just who can click the fastest (the player or the Ai npc) no skill required...no thinking either to be done just mindless clicking to see who can click the same skills faster.Just my point of view/thoughts.

I agree Polymock is not fun. The quests are incredibly annoying until I read the proper pieces and order you are supposed to use vs. every NPC, and then I beat them all on the first try. Still wasn't fun though. I only got all the quests done for the skills and then stopped. Definitely no reason to play Polymock beyond that.
They should have made it be turn-based. Orginally it was advertised as Asura chess. But chess is a turned-based game. Plus the rewards for winning in it(beyond the skill quests) aren't really worth it either and would also need to be fixed for it to be worth playing. Drop of Fear
when is pvp polymock coming?

I only won the 100th time because I kept my first piece alive and had 2 to use up on his 3rd piece. Now im on the second one and again its just not fun! I read all the magazine reviews saying how Polymock was like Pokomon and one of the best bits of GWEN... etc etc etc! Sorry but noo! Its the most annoying aspect! Ive also read all the things about "avoid projectiles", but there is virtualy no room to move. The perspective doesnt allow for you to easily see your character to move around and your having to watch alot of stuff on screan at one time. Its not like normal pvp or 1v1 where you have room to move. I have no doubt that if I stick at it, I will eventually do it, but not after hours of screaming at the monitor! I also know im choosing to do this and I dont have to, but Im wanting the summoning spells and its the only way I can get them. Im not saying they should remove the mini game, but maybe something needs tweaked to make it less frustrating (i.e hard) and more fun! You basically know your stuffed the minute they other side gets 1 point before you! Yes I could buy a more powerfull piece for an edge, but NO one is selling them and no doubt theyd expensive. Can we not just get the spells via a quest and not a 1v1 style format that not everyone enjoys? Yep, that describes Polymock fairly well. Lots of mocking at the basic premis of the game, having fun. To me there is very little fun in GWEN. I had no great expections, and I was still greatly disappointed. I think I will have some real fun and go see a dentist. |
