I think a better option would be to have some non-class specific headgear that has animal-inspired designs. Perhaps one helm/hat could have "ears", another could have horns, another wings, etc.
I don't think having a little headband piece w/ cat ears would fit correctly, but I'm not totally against armor pieces having some sort of ears...

op, were you in my dist for the 2nd coming of mad king in kamadan when i said in all chat i was disappointed we didn't get black cat ears for one of the halloween helms? XD everyone there liked the idea and got disappointed with me too it was a warm, fuzzy feeling. maybe that could be one of next halloween's hat ideas? hint, hint? 
oh, also i wear tails in real life. i want to wear a tail in this game too. heck, even if it is a charr tail--id still put it on one of my chars since i like charr when not in hard mode. but i am a rare case, so i imagine this won't go thru. i like the idea though. i support fur. lots of fur.
/signed for cat ears for next halloween and maybe some charr-type clothing items (ears, tail, face, whatever) in the armor crafter. that could go for asura and norn too, like something bearlike like feet/hand paws with claws and something asuran like one of those headdresses they wear + ears, gotta have their ears too or it won't look right.
edit: posted too soon, and forgot to add my bit about the dwarves. there are enough armor crafts at the central transfer chamber that make the other crafters look poor...so that's why i sign, i think there is still enough room and time to put at least 1 more fun thing for each of the other armor crafters in eye of the north

and as for those masks being part of the ingame lore; whats wrong with adding Feng shui lucky money cat masks or Bast cat masks?

The ONLY arguments that Anet can oppose this to is their usual "it does not fit in with our game vision" or "too busy with GW2".

Hm... the best option would be Yule or the Canthan new year.
In Yule, in the Kamadan festival, if Grenth wins, black ears, if Dwayna wins, white ears.
In Canthan, in the Cat year, there should be an option to get either of those.

and having kitty ears (and yes, female ele's with red or purple hair would look great with them) would not be a detriment to the game anymore than every other player and his dog creating an assassin in the first six months of Factions release and making him look like Naruto or one of the other characters

Halloween, Wintersday, Canthan dragon festival, year of the tengu, etc. Those are specific events that get masks that correspond. Cat Ears out of some kiddie cartoon porn don't fit into any of these kinds of festivals. Now, to "pierce that veil" would mean to introduce a festival specifically for Kiddie Cartoon furry porn. Guild Wars Hentai Festival? Guild Wars Anime Week? I don't think so. Halloween is a rather global event, same with "Wintersday" which embodies all the spirits of the holiday season without going into the religious Christian/Jewish/Etc aspects. Canthan New Year, Dragon Festival, etc go with ACTUAL holidays and beliefs of the people which are represented by Cantha, I.E. East Asians.
Cat Ears are not necessary. People don't run around wearing cat ears and strap-on tails for any holiday anywhere in the world. A Cat Mask for a specific National Holiday somewhere in the world represented by a race or area of the current Guild Wars universe would be fine. A Headband with plush ears on it...no thank you very much.
Lonesamurai: Naruto is a human individual with orange hair and a ninja outfit. They didn't offer "Naruto" brand outfits, there's no chestpiece with the face of Naruto on the front of it. They don't offer Hello Kitty as a cape logo. That veil has not been pierced because people used their imaginations and created Naruto-esque assassins given the customization engine of the game. one major difference: the whiskers/scars/whatever face design Naruto has, is not included in this game. If they included it, then I'd see the point of the comparison. Otherwise, your argument doesn't hold water.
