GW2 Suggestions Thread
Bmc1990
Ok here are my opinions on Guild Wars 2, what not to do and what to do.
1. Instanced maps. Keep that please, some people might not like it...A game can't be perfect. But sinse all GW veterans are used to it and Guild Wars is known for it, keep it! jeez!
But, if you insist on getting rid of that...Have the same as it is, but make the zones bigger. Like ex, north shiverpeaks...have that one big zone, and have a few more cities to stop at for a checkpoint if your exploring. Oh ya! map travel too, thats really handy
2. I really like GW 1's patching system...1-4 mb on average. (usually less) Love it! being that iam on dialup.
3. Mounts! Good for getting around fast, and escaping from a bad situation. But not in cities for the only good they'd to there are just to show off...
4. Auction house...reduces spamming...
5. Sellable armor?
6. More enchantments on armor and weapons. ex only 3 magic attributes on GW 1 items.(stupid)
7. Some how....less noobs spamming chat, asking for help on their noob guild...AHH!
8. 10-12 skills on your primary skill bar. And then have a list of skills with you, in which you can use at any time. (itd just be slower to get to em, for like rezzing the monk if he dies )
9. More item slots, (like someone before said) for rings and ammys
10. More content
11. elite spells, cool, keep that!
12. no transfer of anything! Its a fresh start fools! It would be unbalanced too. Its a lot more fun to start from the bottom, again! Theres no challenge if you just keep the same old stuff and not have to work...my god!
13. Not to high...but a higher lvl cap, 40-50 perhaps.
Ok thats about all i can think of for now....Please post if you disagree with any.

I had wondered if it was possible to do these things in GW2:
1.) Weather changes in PvE and World PvP worlds, to make the game more challenging as well as more immersive because you're against your environment. For example, it's pretty funny when you see a female ranger wearing a really skimpy outfit in places like shiverpeaks and you think to yourself isn't she going to catch frostbite in that thing, or even when you're in places like Kryta or Elona and you see some guy come up with a fur lined armor on.
2.) The group that wins the World PvP controls the weather for other areas. As in making some areas more lush and plentiful. Or making other groups zones more arid and desertry, or cold and foreboding. (this is an idea used in "ArchLord" I believe but from what I heard it could of been done better)
3.) Inns, bars, and camping in PvE towns and World PvP. Like during gameplay in World PvP and PvE the health bar and energy bar should slowly get exhasted. I'd say possibly to the point that you're halfway exhausted if you've been playing consecutively for over 6 hours. The Inns, bars and camping helps you to recuperate or you can sign out for at least 30 mins and start again refreshed at your nearest city or outpost. I think this will help make the game more immersive and also will help with making more strategic movements in World PvP, as in attacking a rival team because they need to camp or attack them while they're camping and are at a disadvantage. Also it may help in the sense of people not playing as long if you actually give them a reason to stop instead of telling them "You've been playing for 2 hours. Please take a break."
4.) Towns and cities can get sieged in World PvP, giving the game an epic Lord of the Rings type of battle feel.
5.) The ability to ambush rival groups in World PvP.
6.) The ability to become a merchant in PvE as in making your own armor and weapons or selling them. The more you do this the better you become or you can go on journeys to different places and learn from armor and weapon makers there how to make different types of armors/weapons like one's with different skins, attributes and such. Also the ability to give names to your weapons.
7.) Killing things in PvE environment for food and gathering roots. I think this is an idea seen in World of WarCraft.
8.) To be able to have PvP in PvE environment but more so against the different races as in if you're a human and you go in to the Charr environment players that are Charr can be hostile towards you. The catch to this is that if you kill a player from another race the consequences are dire. For example, you're a Charr and you kill a human player, when you travel to human areas there will be a bounty on your head and also people looking for your arrest depending on the viciousness of your action. (This idea is used somewhere else I can't remember the name of the game but it's used in the sense of just killing a fellow player in general you will be hunted down and thrown into a dungeon from which you have to escape.)
9.) To have Caravans and Supply lines going from town to town in World PvP. This will also help in the strategy of World PvP, by being able to ambush and stop the flow of Supply lines to well fortified cities and such.
10.) Ability to claim land and create homes on outskirts of towns. Therefore you can grow your own roots if you're a merchant. Or heard your own lifestock and such. Not sure if this is a good idea though especially if too many people do this.

Ok excuse me please for my grammer and if the stuff I type is already on here on the forums.
Some of us may have heard of Runescape. It is a very weak game but, I do like some of the 'skills' such as Mining, cooking , blacksmith, fishing, woodcutting, fire makeing, crafting( jewlery, pottery ect..) I beilive if GW2 had these things, it would be awsome. (Killing stuff for the last 2 years was fun but... yea) But in RS for fishing, all you do was click on the water where the fishies were, then wait till you caught one. BORING!!! Ok so add the fishing skill BUT make it a mini-game!! Now, with that fish you just caught you should be able to fillet it for food. Or show it off as a trophy in your house!!(I will get to houses later) With that food first you make a fire, with your firemakeing and woodcutting skills, then cook it with your cooking skill. Eat that yummy fish, and restore health.
Or another way to get food would be to go out into an exploreable area and hunt rabbit, or deer, stag's, moose, elk, birds, buffalo, ect. And with the antlers or Horns of your game you could use it as a trohpy and put it into your house. And you should be able to farm the area around your house. With the wheat you farm you could take it to a windmill to make flour or sell it. Or farm hops ,barley and make Ale mmmmm. On your farm you could have livestock. You could, collect eggs from chickens or milk a cow. With the milk you drink it or churn it to make Butter. With the veggies you harvest you combo it with other foods (this idea from Sims games) to make another type of food. You take bread, ham and butter to make a Ham Sandwhich Which would heal more health than if you just ate the tub of butter. Oh you have to eat food to stay alive. And in towns/cities, add some bars, where you can talk about builds, battles, what ever over a nice cold, beer. And add some cloths shops so you can wear jeans or a t-shirt, or a jacket, mainly just to wear around the city, man that warrior armor is hot and heavy you know!!
Houses.
It Would be cool to have your own house. But to get to your house you could click on a button in your inventory that says HOUSE. The houses could be on an island called 'Home Sweet Home' or somthing like that so that way no land in exploreable areas is wasted. . And you can invite a friend to come. You could buy your house from a realstate agent.
or start out with a little rubby shack. OR make your own. I think makeing your own would be cool. Okay to make your own house you would chop down trees to make lumber, you could get nails from a merchant or make your own. And you could make rugs from bear hides, make chairs from wood ect.. Or just buy that sorta stuff from the realstate agent. Land around you house you can plant a garden and crops. And make fences for pastures for cows. In your house you could have a dislplay cabnet to show off you sweet weapons, shields, Armor, Trophys. You could also show off your titles in the form of trophys. You could have mini-games like Chess, Darts, pool tables, Texas Hold em'(love that game ) and have instruments too! REAL ONES not a 'Air Flute' and mabey you could have some modern ones too like an Electirc Guitar or Keyboard and hear sounds from them. But if a guy playin guitar then a guy starts playin drums, the game automaticaly syncs so it sounds in tune and that actions look like it would sound good. Okay movin' on.
Pets/ Mounts
Forgot, inside your house you could let your mini-pets roam around, and have cats and dogs mini-pets but to scale with you charater. And let your Ranger Pet walk around too. Also Mounts!! It would be cool if you could galop around on a horse, or a mithyical creature, like a Griffion, Dragon ect. For your pets you have to feed them so they dont keel over. And Armor!! Be pretty cool to see your pet wearing it. And for your mounts too.
Charaters
Your Warrior is Buff, Your male monk is buff, your necro is skinny, all girls are skinny and.. yea so why not change it up? There can be a built necro, a small Warrior, a tall female. A Fat Ranger. Have some more options than just height. Also most of the hair styles i dont like, lets get some new ones, normal ones. And more colors, why not lime green, pink Orange, purple hair. Some people talked about gender changers in game to that I say, Eww, no way man. And more races. Why cant you be a dwarf, or an elf, orc. And dont put a elf is better elementalist so to be good at that elf you HAVE to be ele, and human is good at ranger, just mkae it so it balanced so every race can be decent at every class. And mabey you could have a family, say its like a mini guild. I know lots of peeps who play with there sons, wives ect.
Well that pretty much covers it, keep the no fees that awsome i think i wanted to say some more but i cant think of it. Please post back so i can see if im a fool, or if this is something Anet will use, cause i sure hope so!!!!

I have an idea for Green Weapons. Create an area like UW or FoW where you can go farm for Green Weapons. The area must obviously not be easy to play in, maybe little harder than UW or FoW. You must buy a specific Capture Signet like you would for a Elite skill, but it's just for Green Weapons. Then there must be a boss in that area for every type of character, like a monk boss, necro boss, etc. Then say for instance you are looking for a Dervish Green Weapon you can go farm that specific boss, but the Green Weapon capture must be random for dervish weapons and they can make a % ratio like the dye drops. For example you chance to obtain the Deathbringer is 2% or something like that. I think that will help with all that mind less farming, because you are guaranteed a Green Weapon, you just don't know which one, but you can always trade for the one you really want. If you can sell a few Green Weapons that you don't really want you will be able to pay for the one you really do want as the prices can get a bit high.
I also have an idea for Hero Armour. I would like to be able to customize my hero's armour, like dye it various colours, buy it from a Armour Trader and maybe a bigger variety in styles. For example I can get 15k Canthian Armour for my hero, or whatever the armour will be called in GW2 (you must still finish the game to obtain specific armour)....I just don't want to pay the big price for it tough, maybe the dev team can think of something here to make it more obtainable for the less wealthy players. ((LOL...like me!!))
And then of course....there must be a Trade House. It will make it allot easier for everyone I think.
All that I ask is please don't make GW2 just like WoW, if I wanted to play WoW, I would!!!

I just wanted to echo the idea for vastly improving the trade system for GW2. Having an "auction house" or being able to post your items for sale in game - where gamers can have an easy time browsing for what they're looking for would be HUGE! The ability to have people purchase when you're offline too (such as in L2). So many other beneficial "tweeks" could be added to this idea that your multi-game vets can think of - the overall premise though is a home run - doesn't take much improvement to beat the current process of out-spamming others in LA/Kaineng/Kama, lol.

I personally HATE clicking on an enemy to attack him. When GW2 comes out I would LOVE IT if it had FPS, Over the shoulder, or 3rd person shooter settings. Okay so not everybody would like it, so can Anet make it so you have a choice of, FPS, Over the shoulder, 3rd person shooter, and tradition styles of attack? And also could we move while shooting a bow, and some spells/skills? mabey not at a run but at a slow jog or walk? And be able to jump and climb up ladders and ropes, and swim. That would be cool.
Also in towns/cities, could we have a place where we can buy mods or upgrades? We could buy them with Faction or gold, or a mixture of both. I have some weapon ideas, Like 2 handed swords, like really big ones, some small swords that you can duel weild with? crossbows, maces , flails, pikes, lances, stuff like that?

I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but I hope someone from the Development Team reads this; I hope these issues are already being addressed, but just in case . . .
One concern I have regards to passing on of items to GW2 characters. With the announcement of the Hall of Monuments, its been said that we can pass on a "legacy" to our children (GW2 characters).
1. What about weapons that were customized? I have top "end-of-game" green items from Nightfall that were customized for my characters before any such announcement of "passing on" was made. Will placing a weapon in the HoM remove customization so our GW2 characters can use it? Perhaps customization would be changed from character-specific to account-specific?
2. Will GW2 characters all "spawn" from a single GW character or will it only be a one-to-one ratio?
3. Will items, titles, and equipment be reflected per account or per character? For example, I have many titles on a Ranger character, and few on an elementalist. Can my new GW2 elementalist "inherit" titles from my GW Ranger and still use my GW Elementalist equipment/items?
I hope an announcement will be made soon. I'm not sure if I should work on titles with a single character (thus, have many titles to pass on to ALL my GW2 characters being "account-specific") or if its going to be a one-to-one character bonus in which case only one character will inherit a single character's titles (meaning I have to do titles over and over again with all my other GW characters).
I'm really looking forward to GW2.

Sorn Xarann
Iv'e got a funny little idea in my head, that has proven itself true over the 19 months that i've played. Guild Wars, whatever it chooses to do, i can assure myself that it wont disappoint. Anyone else feel that way?
bamm bamm bamm
I'm not sure if this really fits in with the GW style, but I'm just gonna throw it out there. I'm only using GW1 skill names to make life easier on myself, this isn't intended to be shoe-horned into GW1.
1) There are no solely elite skills.
2) All normal skills have an 'elite' version.
3) The elite versions of these skills can be 'trained up'.
This assumes GW2 focuses more on quality rather than quantity, since doubling the current skill number would be a nightmare.
PvE
So lets say John just reached an event in GW2 we'll call 'ascension'. He can now choose any skill he has learned and switch it to the elite version. Obviously he can only have one like this at a time in his skill bar. He looks at his skill bar and chooses 'Ethereal Light', and it becomes 'Celestial Light [E]'. It is obviously a more powerful version and can be switched back at any time. If he chooses another skill to be his elite skill, this one goes back to the normal version. Currently, Celestial Light is 50-75% effective, but the more he uses it, the closer it gets to 100%. The system remembers this level, it isn't forgotten when the elite is switched off. He uses the skill for a bit and notices a new title track appear in the H window, 'Apprentice Healer'. The more healing prayer skills he levels up, the higher the title track goes, up to 'Grandmaster Healer/Smiter/Marksman/Swordsman/Channeler/Dominator/etc'. Since only one elite skill is allowed in the skill bar at any one time, only one can be leveled at a time. This encourages John to try out new builds.
PvP
All elite skills are at 100% effectiveness by default. The stats are exactly the same as the PvE versions, as the skills aren't intended to be overpowered.
Criticisms
This will cause more PvE elitism.
I don't think so, since the elites are already 50-75% effective, which should be enough for normal play. The extra 25% should be considered a permanent buff, rather than a temporary nerf. I think actually having an elite would be more important than it's level. As long as the system is switched on early in the game and players are given time to use it, I don't think there would be a problem. Everyone is going to be at different levels in GW2 anyway.
More grind? What's wrong with you?
I don't consider this grind. I think when a person is forced to do something they don't like doing in order to reach a compulsory goal, that's grind. This, however, is passive. It happens as the player does anything, as long as he is using skills. Players would be free to grind them up if they wanted, but as long as they are not forced to, I'm OK with it. Anyway, if it's tied to a title, people lap it up.
So I can't capture skills any more? I enjoyed that.
I would hope a better system would be put in place for the acquisition of skills in GW2, since they are at the core of the game.
So elite skills are no longer unique, but just better versions of crappy skills?
The elite skills don't have to just be a little more powerful, they could have less conditionals, or even work in a different way. Take Empathy and Spiteful Spirit for example. I know they're not of the same professions, but they would make great counterparts and are fairly different.

Ive read this thread, and i havent seen many suggestions about new classes. Im just interested to see if any knows if there are any thought of yet, and if not, suggestions about what they would be. Even anything new they can offer to the existing classes. Just thought id see what u guys think.
Makuran
They should create a pirate class. I'm not sure what the skills would be, but it would be cool.

DO NOT INTRODUCE TRADE SKILLS.
You do this, you kill Guild Wars. It looks like ArenaNet is going the way of other MMOs in some ways, which is killing me. I had a different opinion before, but now I'm worried.
If there were to be tradeskills, please, make them useful, but don't make them all-powerful. If you had to, limit one tradeskill to each character, as say an attribute like Fire Magic or Beast Mastery or Illusion Magic. Just don't make it so you will need a Medic tradeskill person or else your party is doomed. Make all tradeskills (if there are any) useful in their own way, and constantly buff and nerf them to make sure no one rules over the other. Don't give tradeskills a lot of skills (skills like the ones in GW now), maybe limiting to a few and then multiple levels of them.
It would be better not to have to deal with them at, but if there's a good idea on them I would love to hear it.

This idea may require gameplay testing, but I thought it would be neat if the skill bar could be expanded to nine skills AND that after a certain level, players could earn the privilege of a second elite skill (but limited to only one elite from a character's primary profession and one elite skill from the character's secondary profession).
Why? Well, from experience, there have been many builds that I would have liked to have tried that needed just one more skill bar place. That's the reason for a nine skill set.
Why a second elite? There are many elite combinations I would like to try, but current GW mechancics don't allow for it. Likewise, many monsters would be very challenging when set up that way. So, I was thinking it would add to the customization of many builds and variety of gaming styles. Of course, testing would be required to make sure combinations weren't unbalancing the game.

Hyper.nl
It would be nice to have a bit more use for the experience you gain after you reached the level cap. Now some players got millions of XP and they only get skill points. It would be nice to see that these dedicated players get a slight but measureable advantage over the others.

2-handed swords!
Bigger daggers!
More daggers that are similar to the split chakrams.
Better area effect skills for assassins.

Well first of all I feel I could write a book about some cool ideas I have for the new game but Im not making the game so I will keep most of them quiet. Either way I know I will love the game.
I skimmed this entire thread and didnt see one of the ideas that I am quite proud of however so I am going to detail it.
I have only been playing GW for about 7 months. and within a week of buying Prophicies I had gone out and bought Factions and NF as well. I got addicted and it only took me about 2 weeks to learn about the weapons and mods and max damage scales. So basically within 2 weeks I realized this one thing...."WHAT IS THE POINT OF A NON-MAX DAMAGE WEAPON???" I had my first max weapon quite quickly and ive never looked back. I now put max damage weapons in the hands of all my characters/heros even if they dont meet the requirements.
My idea is that you make ALL weapons max damage to start with, and here is the twist.....
The character holding the weapon MUST meet the requirements and the weapon MUST BE SHARP!! (in the case of melee weapons, arrows and spears)
Thats right you heard it....it must be SHARP to do max damge. Put a weaponsmith in the game the deals in making weapons sharp!!! Have a sharpness meter attached to your weapon and as the weapons dulls over time you have to go see a weaponsmith that sharpens it for you for a fee.
Better weapons would hold their edge longer, and the best of weapons would never have to be sharpened cause they would have something like a titanium or diamond edge on them....i dont know get creative with it.
You could be detailed or as vague as you wanted when it comes to the cost involved in sharpening your weapons or how long the weapon will stay sharp.
- The weapon should not dull unless it is being used.
- The weapon could dull faster if used by someone that does not meet the reqs
- You could still have white, blue, purple, gold and green...but just make it so that the golds and greens are the weapons that would have the chance of never dulling.
- Allow us to salvage an edge off of a weapon and put it on another one.
- Bows would have arrows attached to them which you could ugrade the material that the arrows/tips where made of. Arrows could be taken from one bow and put on another (once again a salvageable type of thing).
- Caster weapons should always be max damage and you wouldn't have to maintain them. The only thing that could keep them from doing max damage would be a character not meeting its reqs...i mean come on caster weapons dont do much damage anyway.
Well thats it, what do you think?
--------------------------
Ok so here are some of the previously mentioned ideas that I totally agree on as well.
- I love the idea for the Auction hall - just please make it organized. Ill let the people in the other thread iron out the details cause im not reading 500 posts about it
- The hair stylist is a good call as well since it could be alot of fun, but for gods sake dont make it expensive, 10g is fine.
- Really detailed armor dying capabilities. Give me the option to paint flames on my warriors helm if I want. So basically give us the option of solid coloring or even some cool artwork.
- Definatley need a messaging system that will allow me to leave a message for someone that isnt online. A post office system that will allow me to trade with someone while they arent online as well would be fantasic. Like a person wants my sword but im busy and cant trade with them at that moment and they need to log off. Ill just slap it in their mailbox with a pending payment on it and he wont be able to get the item until he deposits the agreed amount into my mailbox. Wouldnt it be cool if I could log in and get a message from the server that says "you have 2 new messages and 1 package in your mail box" I could type /messages to read my messages and /packages to view my packages.
Thats about it for now.

Also I love the idea of 2 handed swords like a giant neandrathal sword or the idea of being able to weild a sword/axe in each hand at the sacrafice of a shield which boosts armor.
having a sword/axe in each hand could make adrelaline go up faster and could lend to a whole new series of dual attacks by warriors.

Thus far, I've observed that a forum doesn't seem to be the best place to organize ideas. Don't get me wrong, a forum serves a great purpose (to discuss topics), but searching/categorization/etc features lack somewhat (note the number of posts suggesting an "auction house" in this thread alone). That said, my wife and I have set up a MediaWiki site called NikiWiki:Gw2 for the sole purpose of sharing and voting on new concepts for Guild Wars 2! Please come beta test it for us!
http://www.nikiwiki.com/Gw2/
Advantages of NikiWiki:
http://www.nikiwiki.com/Gw2/
Advantages of NikiWiki:
- Searchable, organized content - Even if a user doesn't search for their particular idea, the minute they attempt to create an "Auction house" concept, they'll realize that one already exists.
- User polls - So what if someone already posted your idea? Show the world (developers) that you really want that idea implemented by voting on it!
- Twists - What? Someone already thought of an "Auction house" before you? But their idea isn't exactly what you were thinking... Make a twist! The next time someone finds the "Auction house" concept, they'll see your twist too! If your idea is popular, they may even see that your twist has more votes than the original concept!
- Ease of use - NikiWiki:Gw2 provides an environment that easy for both players to post their ideas, and developers to find them. No more searching through endless repetitive forums that oftentimes wander off topic anyway. No more signing up for an extra dose of spam in your inbox just because you want to share your thoughts - voting is open to anyone, and editing only requires a standard wiki username/login.
- NO ADS! - Currently, NikiWiki:Gw2 is free and the developers would like to keep it that way. Share your support for this tool by voting for the wiki itself on the site support page.
- More to come! - Wiki's are driven by the community that uses them. Come share your ideas and make this wiki work for you!

Idea: Don't raise the level cap to 100+ please.
Reasoning: PC Gamer says that the logic behind the higher cap is...
"Some players believed they hit level 20 and had finished the game."
Personally, I don't feel that the status quo (level 20 cap) should change for the benefit of such people, but if it must, make it 30 or 40 or 50, max.
End line: I don't want to play WoW, and I won't play GWoW 2, if that's what you're creating.

I'm not demanding or anything but atleast have one or two of these ideas added.
1. Unique dances for the new races like the asura doing the cha cha slide or the charrs doing the tunak tunak tun dance or the norns doing the russian dance.
2. Weather System and Day & Night System: Rain, Snow, Clear, Hot and now to the day & night system will follow international real time ex: it will be morning for 6:00 am to 12:50 am then it be day for 1:00 pm to 6:50 pm then it be night 7:00 pm to 5:50 am and if that don't work, it will be morning for 2 hours then day for 5 hours then noon for 2 hours then night for 5 hours.
3. Jobs like blacksmith, farmer, miner, chef, hunter, carpeter, fisher and ect.. and you can sell the stuff you made, mined, or hunted to real players so they can do something useful with it or to npc merchants for gold.
4. House you can build, buy, and sell also you can buy furnishter from carpeter players or carpeter npcs and you can use them too. ex: you buy a wooden chair, you put it in your house, you choose to sit on your chair so you do.
5. Marriage system the be like a title or whatever to show who you married there will be an npc you talk to get married after accepting to get married you get an marriage ring that adds +10 hp and +10 mp, but there will be requirements: 5,000 gold, and an female and an male only(No gay marriage).
6. extra slots like for rings, and necklace for bonuses.
7. Don't rise the lvl limit very high like lvl 50 max.
8. Real intruments that really make sounds.
9. Pirate cloths just to have fun in and pirate ship just to play around in
10. Race luanguge option in the chat box like an asura can speak asurain so the other races don't understand them.
11. Working boats and ships so you can see yourself on the ship with other people on it too, and the ship is really sailing and you can fish while waiting or other things.
12. alignment system so the guards can have a reason to guard there city.
13. 2 handed weapons like greatsword, and greataxe
14. Customizable character model ex: instead of being a buff warrior you can be a middle weight warrior or a fat warrior, now if this is not possible then ignore this.
Comments is accepted tell me any of these ideas is stupid or which one you like, I did this because I was bored.

I'm not sure if this has been talked about in any great detail. I havent had a ton of time to look into every thread that may or may not contain information on the communications between GW1 and GW2. Many people enjoy their current guilds and friends list, so I would like to see that friends list transfer over to GW2. Further, it would be nice to still be able to talk to friends from GW1 while playing GW2 and see which game they are playing. Also, logging in to GW will let you choose GW1 or GW2 that you wish to play in the same login. From there the games would be fundamentally different, but I just want to still have communications between the games. I would like to talk to my friends who are playing GW2 while I am enjoying flashbacks in GW1. I also hope the guilds are linked. So that I dont have to remaking my guild in GW2 and reinvite everyone. GW2 should fully support communications and transfers of current communications based on accounts with GW1.
Thanks

Ok, I figured I should just put all my suggestions in the same post rather then multiposting.
1. I would like to see live action battle. I'm kind of tired of the "press 1, press 2, press 4, press 1" method of doing things. I'd like to see more of a hack n slash method, where I could decapitate someone with a proper aim of a sword and clicking LMB. Save 1-8 for special skills like healing, buffs etc, but allow the LMB to do an offensive attack using a weapon, sword, staff, bow, etc.., and RMB for a defensive stance. Use MMB or MB4/5 for casting a preset attack of ones choice. I'm thinking of controls much like ES Oblivion, but still have the strategy of GW current battle system.
2. Jumping and flying! City of Heroes is a mediocre game with some awesome attributes to it. Being able to jump over buildings and fly is just awesome. I would like to see skill abilities like that.
3. Stealth abilities. I dont like WoW, but its rogue class is pretty well done and fun. I would like to see that kind of play in GW2.
4. Battlecast system that EA has. EA has a system that allows commentary and screen manipulations during matches in pvp. Command and Conquer 3 is the game they use it for. Currently its not being used much, but I could see it being used more in GW because GW is designed with tournaments in mind and it might be fun for people who arent playing to be able to watch and hear the commentators do their thing while a match is going on or after a match is over on a recorded feed.
5. Suppose should add swimming. Basically a go anywhere, do anything sort of environment. Not being limited to the edge of a cliff or end of a road. Maybe have skills to learn that will give them abilities to climb mountains or swim deeper then ordinary.
6. Have skills be researchable and gain in power as they are used. Basically the more you use it, the better it becomes sort of mentality. Maybe limit it by having a gap shortfall between the skills skill level. So that say a fireball gets to be really powerful, but an ice shard takes a dip in effectiveness because it hasnt kept up in level with the fireball. Basically make incentives for players to level any and all their skills by gimping other skills that would otherwise be effective.
7. Make the whole world travelable. I think this is happening anyway, but good to mention anyway. If there are several continents and some islands, make the water inbetween "swimmable" or "flyable" with real times between them if one would so choose to not use the fast travel. Oh and there should be a fast travel. One of the things I hated about WoW was taking 17 grifs to get somewhere only to have to take them back because you forgot something. So annoying.
8. Avoid the quests that "kill 10 boars". Those are just annoying and pointless. Farming for 10 hours just to get a single quest done because everyone and their brother are there doing the same one.
9. Avoid turning it into a "farming" game. Some people like to farm certain areas for that uber loot that may or may not drop, and thats fine. But I dont want the game to be all about farming just to level. Maybe make enemies meaningful. Like, you have a herd of boars in the brush, unseen by passers by. If someone comes too close, or they have a den with some babies, they will attack because they are defending their territory. Similar for wolves and bears. But they wont necessarily attack you every time if there is no reason. Perhaps they could even jump out of the bushes, causing the player to jump a little, and they run away. Some realism could be fun. Maybe make some bandits that hang out by a bridge and try to rob you as you pass. Maybe have a conversation with them and have a potential for a peaceful resolve. Have there be a charisma skill that increases or decreases based on how things go. And charisma can be used in trade with NPCs and such.
Getting a little off track and starting to ramble so I'll continue.
10. Houses and communities ftw. I played starwars galaxies and that was a mediocre game at best, but the thing I loved about it was players having plots of land to build houses and cities on. Make the buildings fully customizable, so the player can decide where and how to build if they so choose. Allow them to place their trophies and awards on the wall or in a trophy case, that sort of thing in their house. Maybe even give players ability to have "jobs" or work in their communities toward a specific goal (ie guild hall or statue).
11. Have "jobs" to make money like a merchant profession. Not everyone likes killing 100% of the time. Its fun to go out and ferry a group of adventurers across a river where the current would over power them, but you own a raft that can get them across. So they pay the fee through an automated accept system where the funds are automatically transfered once they agree. Once they are paid, they cant fall off the raft and will be ferried across automatically, but your character can do some interacting with the raft to have some control over the "safety" level. Perhaps a chance for the raft to flip and the whole party is then stuck on a deserted island to explore. People could fast travel back to town, but it'd be more fun to explore that island and also give them a chance at some unique loot not found anywhere else. Maybe make it a mini game. I dunno, thats for the devs to decide.
12. Mountable creatures are always fun, but it always sucks that a player cant attack while mounted. I would like to be able to ride a horse and cut an enemy down with my sword. Or fly on a flying mount and shoot something with my bow or a fireball.
13. Cant say I disagree with the marriage of characters. Anything to promote community in guilds and such. Fun stuff.
14. Character aging? Might be interesting if done correctly to have characters age in look and fundamental abilities as they get older.
15. Tournaments that arent based on combat. Maybe some events like the olympics. The rollerbeetles are a good start.
16. Tavern communities. At the end of the day, players can gather in a tavern, drink, share stories, and can vote for who's story is best. Who's adventure was grandest among them. This could then be posted as a bulletin for a week or month or so.
17. Good/Evil systems. Depending on the choices you make, your char becomes good or evil and thus are accepted and shunned in different areas. Could have different skills be more effective or less effective based on alignment.
Cant think of anything else right now, but I'll add more as I think of em. Thanks for letting me post my ideas.
Thanks

1) I would like to see combat a dexterity based system rather than the current position and numbers game.
2) Graphically, I would like to see real time and dynamic lighting.
3) Spell Symbols! I love spell symbols, I realize that the current skill set already has these things but I barely notice them and the game looks like everyone is throwing colored glitter at each other. So less particles more structure!
4) Class combination specific armor. Like all Mesmer/anything is Age of Exploration/Baroque/Renaissance/Victorian style and characters that have the flipped version of that combination (N/Mo and Mo/N) have the same or similar armor. However, this should be end-game armor since we will probably be able to change classes.

I wish you the best!! |
I agree with most of your comments, good stuff.
I think it's good that they want us to take a break, but I think they should encourage it, but otherwise let us make our own choices.
I agree with the level cap, it was a liberating feeling playing Factions (my first purchase) and getting at about 1/3 of the game and woops, I'm max level! But I think that ANet is looking into no level cap, while at the same time keeping the same general philosophy that player skills rather than level is what determines the outcome. For example, if the increase in stats is drastically slowed at high levels, then a clvl 20 might be almost as strong as a clvl 100.
I like quest arrows. I'm even asking for a quest tracker with multiple arrows so you can track multiple quests at the same time. But I agree that you could be given an option (like in the options menu).
Player-owned housing!?! While not necessary, I think it would indeed be cool to be able to build your own region, and invite people there. Customizability is the key. I enjoyed the Sunspear sanctuary, even though there was no customizability (you do the quests, and you get the NPC's, or you don't). I think that the Hall of Monuments is moving towards that idea too.

Coclusions i have come too, there are alot of ideas that are out there for GW2, and im not even sure if someone is looking at them from ANet, but none the less, we all live the dream. These are the ideas i like, and possibly some that i came up with.
-AUCTION HOUSE!!!!! we are dying for it
-weather, i like the idea, shitfyness. Elementalists maybe benifit from said weather, skills inhanced in certain weathers.NO limited to ele if desired
- Building, i adore this idea. But the land in the game would have to be RIDICULOUSLY big, so some orgaization to this. I dont have any suggestions but id like to hear them
-Race+class=amazing idea.
-Adaptable skills, such as the assasin stealing and such goodness. Every class has a skill that can be trained and bettered.
-Your decisions influence ur alliances, good evil and maybe something inbetween.
-being able to climb and jump and whatever, its great idea. I see assasins in trees
-Marrage, some of those nerds may take this shit seriously but its ok. And maybe if someone is married to another one 2 guilds become in alliance
-The towns get bigger, the get better, almost like a indian style market. Just putting it out there
-Offering sevices, such as u own the boat, people want to go on the boat, they pay to get on the boat, u get the money
-im stupid, i dunno what farming is, but its bad, so fix it somehow
-bots, again, i dunno, but make them better or go away
-and HAVE NEW CLASSES THAT ARENT JUNK, paragon the cheerleader (i like it but i realize how bad it is), ritualist the shit, assasin,.... i dunno what u guys have against them, they seem alright, dervish ..... needs work. I wanna see more classes that have better skills, and ...... i dunno, i just expect more.
-Ridable creatures, LOVE, i wanna ride a dragon SO bad
-Last thing is the GW olympics, races and all such good stuff
SO yeah, that my opinion, take it or leave it. Anything u guys think will be apreciated, and if u wanna add by all means, please.

I think that it might be more useful if you'd give some indications on how to improve the present professions, or what is broken with them, or what professions would be nice to add (aside from pirates, we already know that).

Sorry, i dont have any suggestions. Personally, i think that the people who have put resopnces in this thread are rather immaginative people. Things that i would like to see are uncomprehensable in a video game. All i mentioned is what i feel are some good ideas i have seen. dont think i have anything against the "new" classes (dunno how else to specify) but they could have had more potential, devish needs more damage, and paragon just needs a little more touch of kick ass.

Adding to my previous post...
I like the idea of "take a break" being replaced by sleeping and eating. If done right it can be fun to be required to hit up a tavern every once in a while.
Day/Night/Weather cycles. I would like to see them, but if the game takes too much of a performance hit, its not worth it. If they can do it effectively, great, but if not, dont waste time working on it.
Morphing class. Something that can take on the form of another players character or another creature in the area. Could have alot of fun with that and be quite useful.
More animation based effects. Like I would like to have an axe that acts like a saw. Maybe double headed, but spins on a pivot. Or an effect that, while active, changes the way the other players in the area see things. Give them all drunk effect or something. Sparklies are always good. Maybe fireballs that circle in a 3D figure 8 and those fireballs actually cast when the skill is used. Then they are replaced by another after the skill is recharged.
Transformable terrain. Basically, something a player does in same a grand battle can forever change the scenery. Make the world affectable by players. Could even name a crater, Barduns Crater, if someone named Bardun caused an explosion that made it. Give players the ability to plant trees, vegitation, move rocks formations, create rock formations. Stuff like that.
Taking a page from Oblivion, the ability to move useless items around, like a mug on a table or an apple from a tree. Or even having a telekinetic ability on some class that can grab a sword out of another creatures or players hand and use it against them. Ok, well that last part was expanding on what I was getting at with Oblivion
I personally like the Linked characters to one name in the friends list, but if it must be changed, all a players friends to have access to them all or certain ones. Maybe give people the ability to log on under an "invisible" mode so they can remain anonymous (sp?) when they want to be.
Allow players to post services or needs in taverns or nailed to trees for others to see. Then allow them to quickly group and jump to where they are in order to help or utilize them. Wanted posters could be fun, but make those more like a scavenger hunt.
Public works projects. Expanding on the idea of building towns and houses, allow the players to customize and build public works around the world. Large groups of them work together with different goals in order to help (or hinder) production of a public work. Then make the reward for the public work something extravegant and worthwhile. Something I have in mind for that is say a group creates a statue in the middle of the forest. Over time it corrodes if not kept up, but it can also become broken and become burried. Others could find it in the future and be like whoa, this was created by other players at some point in time. I dunno, just tryin to add flavor to the game
Tunnelling and other deformable terrain. Going back to that concept, it would be fun to get out the pick and shovel, work with a few friends, and create a mine in a rock bed somewhere. (probably keep away from major cities and such) Find some rough jewels to be polished and made into jewelry which can then be enchanted with bonuses. I just like the idea of playing in a true RP world with all the bells and whistles of RL.
If player created things are a go, then the limitations on decay should not be too severe. I mean, I think after a year of inactivity int he game, a house should basically be scrap, but if someone is gone for a few weeks, decay shouldnt set in yet. After a month, a house could set into disrepair and need a little touch up pain (buy a new "dye" kit) and a few boards (chop down a tree or collect some stones to pile up) Easy stuff that makes the game fun and non tedious, but still requires activity to keep things interesting. This could also allow people who dont have a house yet, or want a certain plot of land to be able to get it from someone who isnt playing anymore.
I would mostly like to see benefits for grouping, but still have the option to group with heroes/henchies. I want to see communities build and true Guild Wars happen. Allow all PvP in all areas, but a player can mark themselves as non attackable if they dont feel like being attacked right then. That however wont cover them if they leave the safety of certain areas or enter a private property, that sort of thing. Most likely though, pvp will be in arenas inside the towns and be able to participate over and over again in the various arenas.
I know most of my ideas wont get implemented, but its always fun to let your mind wander of what could be in hopes that the devs might get a good idea based on something I type. Anyway, I'll post more as I think of it. For now, gotta go do some more HM

I have a feeling some people is coping others, or just thinking the same ideas.
SpeedyKQ
My main suggestion is:
Don't go overboard with the whole persistent-world you-are-influenced-by-other-people's-actions thing.
This may sound incredibly exciting from the world designers perspective, when you are imagining how things could work, but it is much less exciting from the perspective of the individual player. It is mostly just frustrating. People want to control their own destiny.
Every time you tried to do something like this in GW1, it failed. Almost nobody liked having access to FoW and UW depend on favor. Almost nobody liked having access to Urgoz and The Deep depend on alliance control. Even look at the wintersday hats - the idea was that there would be a debate about Dwayna vs Grenth in each district, and people wouldn't know which hat they were getting. Nobody liked this. Everyone wanted to control which hat they'd get, so the community worked around the system with the whole even/odd district number thing.
I bought GW1, when I had stayed away from all other MMO's, because of the instancing, NOT because of the no-monthly-fees. I love GW1 so much, of course I'll at least check out GW2. But if there are too many frustrations from having to share my world with everyone else, I may not stick with it.

Yeah, speedy, you have a point. I kinda went overboard on my individualistic effects on the global world. Now that I think of it, it generally isnt fun when things happen beyond one's own control. I'm still in favor of housing and plots of land, personal guild halls and towns, but I think the decay factor is kinda annoying in most games. If its not steep, then its fine, but I suppose deformation of the landscape could do more harm then good unless there is a truly balanced system where destruction can happen, but there are equal or more people who work toward building things up.
I just dont want to see another WoW where everything is nearly 100% static and almost nothing happens. That sort of game relies too much on farming and lines to groups waiting to kill a single spawn to complete a quest. I was mostly trying to get ideas going in terms of other things, more productive things, more rewarding things people could do to enjoy the game to its fullest.
As for the no monthly fees thing, I play GW mostly because of that. If I had to pay to play it every month, I wouldnt be playing it. There is no game in existence worth paying $200/yr to play. Thats just ludicy. I played WoW for 6 months or so. Fun game until the end in general, but again, wasnt worth the cost or time to play it. I prefer the way Anet is doing it by having the base game cost and then having expandable things to purchase if you so desire. I bought a char slot just to support Anet and their endeavors. I understand that it costs alot to run these games and keep them updated, but I still wont pay a subscription to play a game any more.
As for the instancing, I have to agree, I do enjoy not having to be affected by other players directly. At the same time, though, it kills the community aspect of the game a bit. As long as GW2 doesnt have this... go here... kill 10 boars... go back... mentality, we will be fine. Farming will be in every RPG, but there should be more things to do that are far more rewarding then grinding through enemy after enemy just to get somewhere or in hopes of that uber loot.
I would like to see alot of player crafted loot. Make each item crafted somewhat different each time. Maybe not to the extent of SWG. That went overboard, though it was a fun crafting system for someone like me who enjoys complexity. But when you make something, it should have a randomness to it in its stats. Best materials and such will yield a max dmg weapon, but the bonuses could be random. If you dont like the bonus on something, bring it to an enchanter to get it changed. Do levels for crafters to promote that aspect as well. Make the best loot come from crafters and elite instances, but make the regular world areas decent loot that will allow elite players to distinguish from regular players.
Different skins have different effects. An axe that has a large head will swing differently then one with a smaller head. Increase speed, decrease strength, same dps sort of thing. Accuracy and defensive abilities on weapons as well. Shields and off hands could have some offensive ability as well.
Regular clothing, not just armors. Diversify the community in what they wear. Maybe even give us the tools to make a tunic look how we want, not just the color. Make it based on raw materials, so you go out, shear a sheep, refine the wool using some mini game or something, and use an editor to craft how it looks. Maybe limit the looks of lower quality materials to certain patterns that cant be changed much. But have templates of general patterns achievable by a certain material added. Customize material combinations similar to our current dye system. Giving different folds and wrinkles here and there. I dunno, leave it up to the art department to figure out how to implement a system like that. I just know crafting based people like me would have a field day with something like that. And then the combat, or merchant, or political players can come to our shops and request certain things at certain prices, negotiate, that sort of thing.
I think a flexible player based economy is a good thing, but there should be a regulating scale for the level of the economy. That way players cant jack up prices on something thats rare right at the release of a new expn or something and then the price suddenly falls afterward cause its not that rare anymore. Shift the Max/Min up and down depending on how the player economy is going. If there is a high demand for wool over say 2 weeks, the price will go up unless there is alot of wool changing hands. Supply demand system could work in a game. That said, there needs to be limitations so that it doesnt get totally abused like in other MMORPGs.
Always remember, simplicity is fun. Many people dont want to add a second job to their life, especially when its supposed to be something fun. WoW does this well and is probably why its so popular. The crafting system is simplistic, the combat system... eh a little more complicated and unrefined, but easy when you got the hang of it, auction house was easy to use, etc... Controls are key. If a game has bad controls, many people will shy away from it. GW has decent controls, though I wish that alt tab wouldnt always go off when I'm holding alt to see things in the area and then hit tab to change targets... so annoying. I would personally like to see GW2 play how Oblivion plays with the hacknslash method, but in GW2, having 1-0 be spells and powers and skills and such. I dont think that is needlessly complicated. LMB main hand, RMB off hand maybe, MB4/5 something custom set. I dont even know that a targetting system would be necessary then if its collision detected. Aiming an arrow while flying (concept I'm interested in) might be sort of difficult. Might need a targeting system still just so the player who might not be so good at aiming can still do half way decently.
Well I've gotten off track a bit. Basically, make all tasks that would be complicated and needless from the player side, extremely easy. One or two click mining, harvesting, combat, Skills 1-0 customizable, trade, crafting, etc... But still give customizability to those of us who want it. Grade 1 wool will make your basic tunic, but 2 sets of that same wool and some silk will make something prettier, but not necessarily more functional. Allow us to manipulate points on a premade set of templates to give it a distinct look and then save that template so only our store or whatever has it, makes it, etc... Same with weapons, armor, food/drink, housing, that sort of thing.
Well I know most of my ideas and wishes wont be included and thats not a bad thing. Many of my ideas failed in practice in other games. I have full confidence that Anet knows what they are doing. I eagerly await the release of GW2 in a few years. Until then, its HM for me!
Latah!

Until then, its HM for me!

hi,
i have read most of the whole thread and agree with a lot of the ideas like
- no lvl cap but regressiv benefits (buffs) which trend against zero the more your lvl advances
- auction house to mute chat tradespammers
- reworked economy to kill farming and material/gold grinding
and many more.
Kill grinding in general, a lot of people do not have time for this and only want to enjoy a good game
What i also would like to see and what was already mentioned is a good support for linux. A native client is not possible, Arenanet has choosen DX9/10 as their developer tool, i am sure they had good reasons, but they could work with the wine guys during the development.
This way you would not be required to pay a (ridiculous) windows tax in order to play your favorite game.
HL2 and EVE Online are good examples for good wine games and both run on my debian 4.0 almost flawlessly. GW1 works but has bad framerates (still playable/enjoyable) and totally screwed sound.
Let us Linux user/Dellbuntu buyers hope.
Greetings

Alot of stars for such a unecessary thread..
First of all. Are you ALL beta testers of GW2? Have you seen the game? Have you played it? Have you got MORE info than is already announced? My guess.. just GUESSING. NO!
So how the heck can you make suggestions about a game that hasnt even released yet. Imo Anet should stop looking on guru and let GW2 be the game THEY want it to be. For the 2 years Ive played there have been LOADS of changes because you people want to change GW to a game that YOU think you made. Facts are, ANET made the games, ANET decides.
Stand up for yourselfes ANET, for once. Make GW2 how you want it, if people arent happy with it, fine, go get another game.
Im smart, therefor I got no suggestion for a game I havent even tested.
I love GW as it is, no changes would make it better.
I appreciate ANET/NCsofts work with the game, therefor I dont waste their time they spend on the game, to change it because "its to hard *cry*" or something. Appreciation is a nice thing, to bad all dont have that.
And no, you are not appreciating and taking the game for what it is when you constantly make threads about changes.

1. A guild hall is one of the coolest features of GW. In GW2, if this idea is continued, could a flavor of GVG be added that would allow a guild to accept another guild as a rival and allow players in each guild to attempt to raid their rivals guild?
2. If GW2 will have guild halls, a feature that will add monuments to the guild hall to celebrate guild member acheivements in-game.
3. I also like the player owned property idea, I think that sounds awesome.
4. Some of us have more than one account and it;s kind of a drag to have to run multiple PC's to transfer stuff between both accounts. Could GW2 have a setup that will allow a player to register multiple accounts to the same contact info and allow players to transfer stuff from account to account? I'm kind of stuck in that trap at the moment, I bought multiple accounts before we could buy character slots in order to use other accounts for additional storage. Having more than one account is very useful though, it also allows guild leaders in my alliance to step in and cover each other when one of us will be away for more than a couple of days.
5. With character inheretence... please please please please please do not make use use the same character name in GW2 to secure inhereted items from GW1 characters. And please allow us to send off a customized item as an inheretence.
6. That little bounce that the charr shaman do is adorable. Please retain that in GW2.
7. People. One of the most haunting things in GW1 is a general lack of visible population. Please add a population to the game. Farmers, librarians, dieticians, homeless (one of the greatest things in Eve Online is being able to collect homeless people), bakers, ironsmiths, shop owners, random people just walking around and going about their business, etc.
8. Are there plans for an ingame mail system? Being able to send off a quick note to a chum would be great. Being able to mail an ingame friend "sorry I missed you for the Tombs run tonight" would be downright friendly.
9. Useless junk. The problem with GW1 - the real problem - is that almost everything has a use. Could there be some useless junk for sale at merchants? My alliance goes to great lengths to find useless items to use as funny prizes for trivia contests - we go through pre all the time to find pre-searing quest items and Gwens cape and what not. It's fun, makes us laugh, etc.
10. I have a Flute, energy +1. I use it for kicks when helping guildies with low level missions because it's different. aNet has always done a good job of designing exotic items but, how about some more common looking items for use as offhand items?
11. Skinnable shield - a shield whose appearance is customizable just like a guild cape is. Having a shield that hand the same color scheme and emblem as your guild cape would be great!
12. Choice of tabbard or cape or both for guild embleming.
13. Inhereting a guild, to carry over your guilds allocation of NPC's where relevent and retaining your guild name.
14. Someone was telling me that GW2 will have mounts. That same someone told me that Nightfall would introduce mounts so I'm suspicious. If you introduce mounts, could there also be an introduction of wagons and carts?
15. Repairable armor degradation. If you get beat up, you should need to have your armor patched. I think it would be cool if armor patching could then restore armor to it's intact condition or if an armor patch could look crude.
16. Guild armor - allowing guild leaders to design a special suit of armor purchasable by guild members.
17. Less ornate armor, more realistic looking armor.
18. More realistic looking warrior weapons.
19. Two handed swords
20. Crossbows
21. Greater customization of appearance and armor (referring to Eve Online's unique facial customization tool)
22. Why does every character I have need to be in great shape? Why cant a character be chubby?
23. Choice of left handed or right handed
24. Two handed fighting, sword in each hand
25. Name reservation - if I have an empty character slot but, I dont know what profession I want to be but have a name picked out, I'd like to be able to reserve the name on that slot without having to go through the symantecs of building the character. This would probably save some system resources on your side.
26. No minion cap, instead weaken all minions a little for each minion over 10.
27. Friendly fire

What I particularly like about ANet is that they do listen to player suggestions. I also like that they make informed decisions, as opposed to implementing every idea that pops into player heads. They make changes to improve the game, and use good ideas generated by players.
GW2 is an excellent opportunity to address player demands, as it starts new. It's easier to make a change with a fresh start than to try to squeeze it into an existing product. It's exactly this reason why they made GW2 instead of continuing making GW1 campaigns and expansions.
Therefore, now more than ever they should try to incorporate as many player ideas into GW2 as they can, that is, the good ideas only of course.
In short:
I agree that ANet make great games, and they should continue doing what they are doing.
I disagree that ANet should not listen to player suggestions, as let's face it, they always have listened which is one of many reasons why they have been so successful.

Wow, this is a long thread. I looked through it for about an hour, and didn't see this idea, so here goes...
Currently a profession's primary attribute is just like any other attribute (except they are the only class who posess it). If you want to make use of your primary attribute, the thing that makes you identifiable as your profession, you have to spend Att points on it, just like any other attribute.
What I suggest:
Your Primary attribute becomes an inherant bonus. Your level in your primary attribute increases as your level increases - demonstrating your proficiency in your profession. This would inextricably mark you as a member of your profession - it is what you do after all.
They may not even be doing attributes the same way in GW2, or profession bonuses for that matter, but if they are anything liek the current model, i think this would be a nice addition.

I think this thread is more of a wish list then a suggestion forum. There are things that players have ideas about that may or may not be cool, or may or may not work in practice. The ideas we post here are to hopefully spark an idea in a developer that may not have been thought of by them initially. The read something and go, "oh, hadnt thought of that, but that sounds like it could work and would enchance this part of the game."
Ultimately, yes, they will do what they want, but who is going to buy a game that a developer created for themselves and not for the majority of the community? Not many (unless they are EA and overhype mediocre games, but that is a story for another thread). Many people have many good ideas that are not that far fetched in practice. I have to say most ideas are just plain impractical including many of my own. But I posted them any way in hopes that one of the guys at Anet reads through and says, well that idea is stupid, however, it gives me an idea that may work in practice. Mostly we are just suggesting things that we think are cool ideas. I have every confidence in Anet that they will listen to the community, but ultimately make the game right for the player base so that its fun, enjoyable, and entertaining while giving us a top notch game that we dont have to go broke in order to play. They will give us what we want, whether we know what we want or not.
Just dont bash those of us who want to actually help and offer constructive material to the future of our gaming lives. If you have no ideas to contribute, bad or good, then you shouldnt be wasting your time posting in a thread like this. I'm sure you have better things to be doing, like HM in GW. That sounds like a better use of time to me.
Ok enough of my ranting. Suppose I should post something constructive. I would like to see astronomical phenomenon. Like on this night, the stars are set to this and you get this buff/debuff. Something that is buffed, but at the same time a debuff that balances it out. Overall, I think that would be annoying, but the concept is intriguing. Perhaps someone else has a better way of doing such things in practice.
