Ever get reported for inappropriate language?
Sujoy
I know I have, and for what? Because I said words like damn or hell. Now you may think those qualify as a rude way of speaking, but heck, this game is meant for 13+ people, isn't "damn" or "hell" acceptable at a limit?
On top of that, NPC's use damn or hell themselves... so what's up with this shizzle!?

there are filters. not our fault the kids turn em off or the parents don't care.

I have noticed that when playing American Districts there are a number of players who get upset when using any of those words, any reference to a certain religious deity or abbreviated swear words , this is not a slur on Americans just an observation so please don't flame.
KamikazeChicken
Anet wouldn't take action on an account for saying damn or hell, and no, I've never been reported for inappropriate language.

Dont expect this to be open for too long, already reported it.

haven't been reported and don't understand why there is a chat filter that is turn offable if people aren't allowed to utilise the full extent of the language.
words themselves are not offensive it is the manner in which they are utilised.
prick in and of itself is not an offensive word. I have to prick my fingers every day in order to measure my blood glucose level. However somone may call someone a stupid little prick. thereby using an inofensive word in an offensive manner. That should be reportable. Personally I would find being called stupid far more offensive however as that besmirches my intelligence, of which i'm sure is very adequate. its one thing to be a git but to be a stupid one is even worse

i don't really talk in local other than to answer questions, which I do politely. Real conversation is reserved for friends and guildies, who don't present a problem.

The rule against language is explicitly stated to be "abusive" language, which includes serious racist remarks, verbal abuse, etc. Honestly I don't think ArenaNet gives a shit if you want to swear casually in game... that's what the language filter is for. The 13-year old griefers who get off on getting others banned will /report you all they like, but it requires intervention on the part of an Anet employee to actually do anything about it. Otherwise its just spam for Anet to sift through.
In short, don't sweat it. Its abuse of the /report system and nothing more.

Never been reported for anything at all.. ever
Then again I've never talked or behaved badly in game either. Worst word I think I've ever typed is Damn.
Nothing wrong with the /report system though. If you never give anyone a reason to use it on you, then there will never be a problem.

I don't regulate my language at all. If people don't like it they can turn on the chat filter.
VanDamselx
I was only banned for an inappropriate character name once. I probably should have been banned quite a few times for a dirty mouth. I've become a bit more cautious now with instantaneous reporting. Before most people couldn't have been bothered to take a screenie and go through all the crap with support just to report one person.
chowmein69
i never got banned for bad language
MMSDome
I did. Just ported into Rata Sum and people were arguing with eachother and calling eachother names and stuff so I said "Quit calling eachother n***ers" and one guy said "Have fun im reporting you"

Well, first: There is a language filter so "joke'em if," but I try to guage the age of the person I am playing with by their attitude, language usage (grammar as much as anything else), and personal remarks. If they say, "Well, I got to go to work in an hour" I have a major clue.
What I find amusing is the times people get upset or complain they are objecting to common words used in regular description of a current event which they misconstrue into meaning something outside of game. Turning things into allusions to what they are not. Which only tells me who is thinking more where...

As far as I know, I've never been reported for inappropriate language.
Personally, I think that people only use bad language when they lack the vocabulary to express themselves in a more polite, eloquent and articulate way.

Never been banned for language abuse.
I don't usually bother regulating my language; there's a filter for this. I choose to turn it off, and I've never been reported for swearing. Let's just say I don't PUG much more nowadays, my guild/alliance doesn't care about it either, and our new members are aware we aren't PG13 material. I've never been fond of censorship myself...
So as long as you're not offending another person, I'm good with it. And that's why people who use the N-word (GRAH hate censoring myself) and say something/someone is "gay" as in "stupid"... I tend to warn 'em they're playing with a gay guy. Most of the times I get apologies right away; other times I get insulted more. Annoys the hell outta me.

As far as I know I've never been reported. Or if I have it didn't result in a ban.
But then I don't generally cuss in local/random Pug's. Recently I was slightly drunk and watching "Withnail and I" while playing and I shouted out a rather vulgar quote for some reason I couldn't properly explain now. I got a few o.O kinda emotes. Thank you for not reporting me, Halloween celebrators!
Anyways, chat filter exists for a reason. If you turn it off you're not exactly in a position to report anything. At least to my way of thinking.
