Why are you pumped for GW2?
Rexion
So, I've seen a lot of threads about people getting ready for GW2. I was wondering about some reasons why other people were excited for it. It is about two years away, and we have a lot to go through before then.
So I ask, why are you pumped for Guild Wars 2?
My reasons:
- the community might reset, and politness and courtesy will rise up again. (Think back to Xmas '05 and remember that)
- new characters, new story, new new new!!
- seeing what will happen to Ascalon. Will it be still destroyed, or has 200 years taken its tole and its back to normal?
- What will the races and classes be like?
- Will ALL classes be appreciated, or will things like Mesmers and Paragons left in the dusts?
I'm mainly excited about the first and last one

I like to see the genre move forward, the original game was awesome, its time to move to something better, and guild wars 2 looks to be the smart choice.

-Persistent map areas with instanced dungeons.
-Finally getting that irritating level cap removed.
-PVP still balanced
-world pvp with dozens of players randomly clusterf*cking away in huge battles with tons of npc's
-no more heroes needed (hopefully)
-no more titles (since we can level up more)
-more hotties
-a clean slate
-being able to dive into a world pvp fight with a build of my choice without elitist pricks kicking me out, calling me a nub and reporting me for using smite
Most importantly, i want more FREEEEDOM and options to make my character truely one of a kind.

I'm not pumped about GW2. It's too far away and there's too much more to life than watching the calander for the release of a video game.
(I'm hoping to discover girls by then! )

1 up and 2 down
I am pumped for a fresh start.

It's the only thing that keeps Guild Wars from becoming Grind Wars (the transition has started in NF!!!)
You (I know I dont) don't want Guild Wars to get lost in the ether that is composed of gay Korean MMO's that take hours of killing the same creature to get 1 level? :O No god plz no!

I am even more excited about the new expansion that is comming out for GW1 because I already got a lot of time in this game and don't have to start over...but on topic I am ready for GW2 so I can play a game before nerfs screw it up

It's Guild Wars. 2.
That's all I need to know, and that alone has got me pretty psyched.

I actually hope I'm not dating anyone at the time, because Guild wars 2 will destroy that relationship, the same as Guild Wars 1 destroyed my last 2 relationships

I view GW2 with enormous trepidation, I'm not at all sure I'll be buying it. Pre-press indicates the game will have considerably less depth for solo and small group play than its predecessor (no NPC party mechanic to speak of), and that much of the game will be persistent world (which is what I came to GW to avoid in the first place). I've adopted a wait-and-see attitude, but I'm a long, long way from "pumped." More like "braced for disappointment."

Not only that, but you *will* be able to level up your own personal henchman.

I got into this game because of the no fees thing. I was originally rather dissapointed that i couldn't get higher then 20, but i got to live with it. And now, GW may finally become what i originally hoped it to be: A MMO with no fees. I never cared about pvp much, as does the majority of the GW players it seems.

I don't remember seeing anyone pumped about GW2 but it'd be nice if Anet has learned enough from the first GW experiment to put out something as incredible as the initial vision.
I've pretty much had enough of GW and only log in on request now to help people I once introduced to the game. The new car smell of GW2 is the only thing that I'd look forward to

But i'm shure there is no need for the "skill over time" fans to despair since i believe the level cap for pvp will still be 20 or something similar.

I started playing Guild Ward because of the low level cap, so yeah. Even if I buy GW2 I don't think I will enjoy it so much as I have enjoyed Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall and Eye of the North, but hey I haven't tried anything yet so what would I know

Basically, the first concept of GW was to be a pure pvp game with the RPG elements mostly serving as a drawn out tutorial.Remember the Desert missions resembling pvp? But pvp simply isn't fun enough for people who don't like elitism and cookie cutter builds. And just playing RA and nothing else is only fun for a few days.
Another thing that was crappy about the original: The intire Maguuma area was utterly useless, since almost nothing of value was to be found there (totem axe was aded later i think). Most people just run to Sanctum cay anyway. So how is that "good"???

But yea, fresh start, hopefully some new balance, reset.... sounds good. At least till people whine about HoM benefits. :x

Well from a look at my perspective, Guild Wars currently lacks any real depth for veteran players or hardcore players. Of course this all has to be taken with a grain of salt, but i would agree that any new player whom would start Guild Wars with all three campaigns would enjoy what we have already came across and enjoyed. For us who have played through the great and bad times of this franchise, its a great idea to move on to bigger and better things. I myself, have found that my loggin time has drastically been reduced, i was averaging close to a alarming rate of 200hrs a month. Now i am averaging close to half the innitial hours i played before. I am pumped for Guild Wars 2 for the sole purpose of something new and exciting again. GW was a great game and kept me home and kept my cornias melted to my computer screen for years. Hopefully GW2 has a great impact on my life as GW did, because i enjoyed the ride.
Of course i am not going to overhype GW2 or be tricked into being overly hyped about it. Gonna be cautious of purchasing GW2. GWEN is a fine example of how they and the community over hyped a let down expansion.

I am pumped for GW2 but the real question is my computer ready for it???? Do I need to start saving my pennies and dimes??? I would hate to find out late that I need a new system. Because that will take awhile to save for. And if that happens too late I will have to resort to becoming the “Lord of Factions” kicking Shiro out of Cantha for good over and over and over

-GW with a PvE that matters! Endless character development! Having *anything* maxable makes it instantly boring, getting max level, max attributes, max armor, max weapons in GW1 in a day or two was the major suckage and was the reason huge masses left GW or went PvP only. Hopefully the devs understood all that.
-lots and lots and lots of absolutely NEW stuff and it's still GW!
Just can't wait

I'm looking forward to being able to play as an Asura, exploring the landscapes of Tyria, spotting all the new pop-culture references, and of course questing.

New content and a new start, GW is getting dull. I'm looking forward to see what do they have prepared for us and how will they counter the problems that plague the game.
Konrow
A community "reset" would be awesome. I miss all the awesome times i had with awesome people in the first year and a little more of GW. Man those were the days. Hell even when Factions came out people were still nice and new and exploring the game, just trying to have fun. Ah man one can only dream.
That and the enw mechanics of the game in general are what i really wanna see.

I'm looking forward to Guild Wars 2 because it'll be completely different. I can start new characters from scratch (I won't delete my current ones because of all they've done and such), playable races (sylvari woot!), and a whole new story and new way to play. Kind of like a better version of WOW with no monthly fee. I'm so excited! hehe

There's PLENTY of elements of character advancement once you hit max without introducing grind(-like elements) for further mechanical character advancement. That's the time to start experimenting with builds to see if you can make new combinations that are either better or more fun (not necassarily contradictory...) than what you were using before. It's almost like making a new character!
And there's the other benefit - low level caps encourage making additional characters. High level caps discourage it - and, by extension, discourage trying all the profession. Personally, I don't think I've experienced all the content until I've thoroughly explored every profession.
These elements notwithstanding, I am looking forward to the chance that they might be able to undo some of the things that I consider to have been mistakes. A traditional levelling system will probably be better than the pseudo-levelling advancement-by-title disaster GW has now, and without mentioning any names there are some skills that I think have been misassigned that would probably do great things for the professions that should have them without knocking out the professions that do. (Of course, we don't know how similar the skill system will be... but one can still hope they'll have the niches better defined rather than having one profession being better at a particular role than the profession that would otherwise be expected to fill that role due to a couple of uber-elites)

I find I have to agree with some other people on this thread I view GW2 with a growing trepidation, I'm hoping it stacks up to what we are all hoping for and doesn't leave us bitterly disappointed.
What i do know is that the announcement of GW2 has contibuted to splintering our Guild somewhat of which I was one of the founding members of, and that saddens me.
The former GL has left the game totally and probably won't be comming back, the other founding member barely wants to play anymore and both have gone over to WOW, due to that a lot of our key members are either leaving to form their own Guild, find another one, or barely play anymore and some have left the game totally. This is probably not just us though. I am still the one founding member who still actually logs on and plays but not so much now due to this and other Real life commitments but I also have been forced to look into other options as well as there is noone left to play with anymore
So yes I am a little worried about GW2, I'm hoping that it will be great as I still love GW and always will, and that it'll survive but still two years is a long time to wait.
