New Elite dungeon - Ascalon Catacombs

Remember the old days of Ascalon? Lush, green hills, angry little wolves, and of course, The Catacombs.
Where a better place to level your character?
For those of us who own Guild Wars: Prophecies, Nightfall, and Factions, we know the only region that does not contain an Elite Mission area is Tyria.
Why not reopen the old Catacombs of Ascalon as the first Tyrian Elite Mission? It would definatly be a blast from the past, reliving those moments on your old, battle-scarred level twenty character!
And who better to be the keeper of this dungeon, than the first boss we encountered? But Skullreaver, of course!
Just a thought.

Good idea, but people who want to experience the awesomeness that is the catacombs, they usually make a perma pre character.*cough* me.

But a Catacombs with 8(to12?) players, better rewards, slightly "aged" environment, bigger baddies, and all the other ingrediants that makes an area Elite, makes for a better experience. And an experience for characters that never get a chance to see the area at all (Ritualist/Assassin/ Dervish/Paragon).

I love being able to reminisce of the good times when we were able to roam free doing quests and not having a care in the world.
Also, it could be considered to add a new small outpost for 8 people to enter it instead of 4. The outpost would be just under Sardelac Sanitarium and would be the entrance to the new Catacombs. Skullreaver would be the boss guarding a chest.
And maybe we could dig up a little more info on Gwen's escape from the charr there. Like getting into the ruins of the Catacombs and heading through the dungeon with some Vanguard soldiers (One of which could be Langmar) and eventually finding the EotN.

I was crestfallen when I found out that the Catacombs was blocked off in Post-searing, even if I didn't show up at Sardelac Sanitarium until after I was Level 20 on my first character (somehow missed that outpost). Perhaps the earthquakes that rocked the rest of Tyria open a fissure in Old Ascalon that only Level 20 GW:EN owners can access? I'd definitely love going back there to find darker forces at work.

I haven't been in pre in a long time but was there a notable bad guy there? Maybe a specific Charr/human? When the searing happened, he was trapped in the catacombs and eventually driven mad. Maybe found some power, related to the Destroyers, a relic.
Anyway point is, it'd be cool to go back and say, OMG it's HIM/HER! I had wondered what happened to that person. And connecting the old to the new.

This idea has been on my mind a week after I got GW:EN, and I think the Devs could have alot of fun with it.

only one problem... the catacombs are not in the EoTN region ...it cant just move itself to EoTN areas
they can make something like it...but not the same thing with higher level creatures and a few more rooms...

Kind of like how the CTC is in the middle of the shiverpeaks yet doesn't connect to droks area or boreal pass areas. The catacomb dungeon could be an isolated outpost somewhere in Ascalon too. Going in would be like going into the crack in the beginning of EotN.

Also we(maybe monks only) had to haul around some urn in there, that could show up again too.
I don't think I've ever seen that necro collector in there ever again; if she is indeed in there, she must have run out of candles after a few years, so those previously friendly spirits wouldn't be so friendly anymore.

Hmmm. What about Oberan? I know that we kill him after the searing, but that doesn't mean that he can't have crawled back down into the catacombs to nurse his wounds, and stew for a few years about the whelp that killed his minions.

To make it possible for only GW:EN people to access it, you can simply have Gwen (once completed the game), she hands you an old relic where she kept it as a memento. You as the player realized that it's actually a key to a one of the Asuran gates. This one in particular leads to the Catacombs. It's actually much huger than anyone would have expected in pre.

Heck, the Asura have portals everywhere. Why not one from somewhere like CTC (or near it) to Catacombs? (Similar to Gadd's Encampment-->Shards of Orr entrance).

Yeah. One part of the catacomb could have crumbled. Revealing the gate. then you find the gate to get there... and finally use them.

They could also had an additional dungeon like the Catacombs in Faction and Nightfall
In Faction it could be the old forgotten Library of Shin jea monastary
And in Nightfall Even older level and rooms of Faranur city.

As for the other areas, it would seem the more of these areas that were released would destroy the significance of the last.

/signed on one condition, please don't make its design like Slaver's requiring killing different bosses before getting able to finish the quest.
Slaver's is so poorly designed that its hard to find people in the same stage as yourself, requiring to redo bosses and help out just to get others to the boss that you need.

1. Put a large dragon in it he hee >.> that its off in the distance that we can't reach >.> as a little reason for the boards and wiki to ASPLODE for 3 days.
2. Making it a prophecy's Elite mission, that only Prophecies and GWEN owners can access.
3. You NEED to have some kinda huge Leviathan like creature in there.
Hell HAVE an undead Leviathan in there.
