What was your first profession *combination*?
Nevin
E/Mo... Yep the /Mo was for farming... Nope not 55.
I used to farm the Mergoyles out in the Scoundrel's Rise area. My build you ask?
[skill]Flare[/skill][skill]Fireball[/skill][skill]Meteor Shower[/skill][skill]Fire storm[/skill][skill]orison of healing[/skill][skill]Healing Breeze[/skill][skill]Aura of restoration[/skill][skill]fire attunement[/skill]
Yeap, thats right. No elite. Killing level 12-14 mobs was never so much fun. Oh and by the way, I made 1-2k a run.. Which would last.. Oh.. I'd say... 30-40 minutes. The real sad part is, I grinded for my first set of 15k armor through this run.

Mine was Ele/mes I got lucky I guess. I chose mes since it was the other "caster" class and i wanted to be well rounded "mage"
second was W/mo I soon learned that healing and prot sucked, but the smite line served well for a while.

Skyy High
First character - E/Mo Skyy High (since deleted, don't have a character by that name anymore).
/Mo for the res, and occasionally I monked if my team couldn't find one. Huzzah for thinking that high energy pool was better than divine favor for healing....

Mortal Amongst Mere Gods
W/R, went for pets, the bow, and Troll Unguent. I was teh nubb back then.
Dione Davore
E/Mo
I had a friend playing as well and he started earlier than me.
He suggested that secondary monk would be nice.

Kamara
Ranger/Ele. And what a glorious nubcake I was.
Rez sig, Troll ung, Kindle Arrows, Charm Animal, Meteor Shower, er... Whirlwind? O_o, Firestorm and Barbed Trap. With a bow. Don't ask where I got the energy for all this from, I really don't know. I ran stuff very similar to this all the way up to the fire islands I think. But hey, I had a self heal and a rez, I was better than 90% of the GW population.
I've thankfully got *much* better.
As for why? Uh... I wanted a pet. And Meteor Shower was leetsauce. And bows are awesome! PEW PEW. I do believe I was using short bows while doing all of this too. Pets, bows and fire. What more could a girl want

Volitar
My first character was a Ranger/Mesmer. I liked using Empathy and Backfire. Plus, Fragility was fun to use. Good times
Saphrium
N/Mo, Running full blown blood necro, stealing life like crazy, never run out of energy, only got Mo secondary for the rebirth.
kazjun
W/N though I was pretty much pure W once I realised it cost too much energy to cast. Wasn't till I got to kryta that I got plague touch, and now it's on pretty much any W/N build I use.

Legendary Shiz
Warrior....monk
Dev121
Anyone else thinnking this was when the game was really really fun, now its all strict team set up sand builds, also the pulling and waiting and stuff drives me mad.
free_fall
Well, I always take Mo 2nd to get res.
Now, my first real character was/is a warrior. I ended up putting some points into smiting because I played a lot with just the hench and had discovered that they loved to follow me right into the melee, but that if I used a wand the casters would stay back by me while the warriors would run in to do the melee bit. So I had to get my smiting up to 9 to use a max collector wand and I threw a couple of smiting skills onto my bar for good measure.
I can imagine how funny that would have looked to another RP in the party, to see my W with his shield and wand, wanding the enemies to death.

My first profession combo was R/N, my first days running around pre-searing thinking how awesome it was, to make minions and take my pet along for the ride
[skill]Animate Bone Horror[/skill][skill]Life Siphon[/skill][skill]Soul Barbs[/skill]

Read that mesmers were hard to play so thought why not. Used a pet to agro and a longbow to pull and degened as much as I could whilst running away. Then res the pet to pull and degen some more. Worked a treat untill I got to the jungle then I gave up, damned riders. Pretty much the same happened with my 2nd char Mo/W, basically a hammer warrior with a load of self healing. By then I was thinking lets just play safe and go Wammo lol.

W/Mo.
Specced 12/9/9 - Axe/Strength/Healing
I actually used the Beetletun armor (like 40 AL or something) up until I finished the game... then I realized there was better armor.

I remember the days in the shiverpeaks arena where I would raise minions while casting empathy... then get cut down by a warrior with Sever Artery and Gash.

Then I found out death/blood/curses lol. Then I went E/N for Mega dmg+minions. Too bad this was in factions cuz I got flamed a lot lol.

My first character, which is still my primary character, was a Me/R.
I started playing D&D 2nd Ed and I decided to make a bard named Taliesin. Since then, he has had many reincarnations across several tabletop and computer games. Being that he is a bard and a mesmer is "performing" profession, it only seemed natural. As for the ranger, the tabletop character's weapons were a rapier and longbow. And in all honesty, I'm surprised he successfully completed the three campaigns.

KvanCetre
E/Mo for obvious reasons.
But honestly it was a great decision....having res instead of a single use signet saved my group in a few missions.
Back in the first few months, you could also get away with having an ele primary healer....

Having no monks around sucked.
E/Mo was all the rage back when Ether Prodigy Heal Party was good.
so yeh...
Pre-release of prophecies (beta days)
W/N with sever artery, gash, hundred blades, thrill of victory (back when it gave HP on a kill), healing signet, plague touch, and life siphon (wtf was i thinking...)
E/Mo with firestorm, fireball, ice spikes to snare people in the firestorm, some other crappy stuff, hard res and in pve...firestorm, fireball, fire attunement, glyph of lesser energy, meteor shower, heal party, res (the only class I took with me from beta because I used to PVP with that build)<_- at the time rodgort's invocation was not buffed to today's quality so ti was every 30 or 60 seconds which means it sucked
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
after release
E/Mo --> fire then earth then air/earth hybrid build
W/R --> Warrior with pet or warrior with barbed trap to hold aggro and troll unguent to heal (since tanks were always in demand and people screamed when you heal sig)
N/Me --> blood with illusion ...vamp gaze, life siphon, conjure phantasm, soothing images for FOW's troll things, feast of corruption to go with soothing images (it worked well in presearing...)
were my 3 characters since I wanted to get all the skills through roleplay (6 classes covered) and that was the optimal setup.
================================================== =======
The reason why Wamo was the rage in beta was because healing hands was nonelite and mending used to give 4-5 pips of regen even at low levels of healing prayers. It got nerfed before release of prophecies and people still used it because they thought it was good. Hundred blades used to be nonelite as well.
upier
Made a ranger primary (well actually a few because I never could decide on the right hairstyle!). Was running around testing secondaries - tested the necro and raised my first stiffy!
I was sold!
So I remade the ranger into a necro and went with /me secondary. (Which also meant no pet and no spirits - which was actually the reason why I got into GW! )

Turbobusa
N/Mo and W/Mo...I used to play with balthazar's spirit , some 5e attack skills and vigorous spirit or heal breeze.
Performance Pudding
i had made a few test characters to learn a lil about the game (still didnt know about post) then i made a war and figured that i can leave pre fast by taking mesmer prof. in the end i got every prof mesmer skill and typically just attacked stuff then used blackout cuz i usually let my hench do all the work. those were fun times. (noob time ftw)
Cebe
E/N.
I don't know why I chose N...It just took my fancy at the time I guess. All the way through to the Echivold Forest I used a mixture of Air Magic and Death Magic. Ahh, those were the days when you felt compelled to use skills from your secondary "because you could". In the Forest I came across Energy Boon which I loved dearly until I found out what Elemental Attunement was.

Warrior/Monk with Mending.
It was and is supreme in the Presearing and Ascalon areas, after all. Where Sever Artery is Killer.

w/e with meteor, meteor shower, and fire storm. I saw hamstorm on the back of the box and thought it might be a good build. I was so happy when I got to LA and got glads armor, I didn't need glyph to cast meteor shower anymore.
