It is commendable that anet tries to control the game economy and changes the game to do this. The previous change that was made to reduce the gold drops had a very positive effect on the game economy with everything becoming cheaper and more affordable to everyone. So well done and congratulations on a great game.

But you must remember that this is a game and should be treated as such I have seldom played a game without using some sort of exploit and in some cases cheats just to allow me to finish the game. Playing maybe 1 hour per day it could take me years and I would lose interest in the game.

The guys that buy in game gold are paying players of your game and no matter what their reason for buying they are doing it to get more enjoyment of your game and are investing in it so obviously it is a compliment to anet that someone is willing to invest more money in their game to make it more enjoyable to them. The guys posting in this thread about the stuff they farm and sell must remember that they sell to people that bought the gold in the first place, if people did not buy gold then a Ambrace would be worth 10k in my opinion. So you are also profiting from the gold sellers.

I have friends ingame that farmed Titan gems very successfully in the early days of DoA and sold many for 80k, today a year later they still have hundreds of Pt stored away, today a Titan gem is 7-8k, these guys sold to people that bought the money from gold traders (nobody can afford that any other way). Are you to ban them too because they profited?

The adjustments you made with the drop rates were in my opinion much more effective allowing the good players to also afford the high end stuff, this is way better than what you are achieving with these bans.

Also, most of these "bans" are 3-day suspensions. Not perma-bans.

But being that afraid is very unusual. In a serious way.
seeing friends wasting time to be unbanned doesnt help. seriously

Actually that abbreviation was created by university students during the dark age of the internet. It can be assumed that it sounds like the f-word on purpose.

regarding spoken out loud and misinterpretations following from this:
"ai" and "ei" are pronounced the same way in german
-> Gaile = Geile

"geil(e)" is a german adjective meaning "horny" (yes, the vulgar interpretation)

Most of Germans won't care, because it evolved into meaning "cool" as well, but the original meaning is still in use.

I have ***PERSONALLY*** brought that to Gaile's attention **TWICE** and had acknowledgment both times, and she said she'd look into it.

So its like saying "ATM Machine"....

Well thats reason enough to ban them.

Its still second hand Q Q-ing over matters that can only be solved via contacting support.

And attempting to apply the basis of a banning bonanza, or some form of mass banning is only to get replies and play to emotions.

And for the trader who was banned, good, I hate anyone with more money then me, if he can just transfer 600k he has too much XD

Wouldn't a query from a GM in game or via email be a logical first step. That'd stop all the "in error" bannings. Heck, even a scripted whisper and logging a non-response would be a start. Then send a scripted email and after 1 week with no response, ban the account. At least then they had a chance.

A friend of mine has been unjustly banned 3 times now, as she deals in large sums between her 3 accounts often, as well as loaning guildies/alliance members "large" sums of money.

100k is not a large sum when you charge 15k for a NM mission run....

PS Roshi, there has been a banning spree recently that has caught a lot of innocent people. 5 people in my alliance have been banned in the last week for no good reason. I'm just waiting for it to happen to me. Then I will heed the call of a certain other MMO with cartoony graphics....

Very few banning are actually innocent, the OP friends name was offensive, be it a french canadian thing or not it appear offensive. 5 people banned, chances are there was atleast 3 good reasons.

If you think there good or not isn't the point, Guildwars isn't a democratic state its a dictatorship! Anet can do what ever they want. Complaining on forums does little to help.

Guild Wars may be a dictatorship, but I can vote with my feet and my wallet, as more than half the original players already have. Pissing off people who have already spent over £200 on your products and will spend more in future is bad business, imo.

In general, I'd agree that out of 5, maybe 3 would be warranted, but not in these cases, since one already has both their accounts back and the other 3 are in the process of trying to get theirs back.

And Gaile reads these forums, so clearly they do care what the community thinks, and hopefully take it on board.

This is speculation, but the current banning bot/script/whatever seems to work by banning every account that has a 100k trade with no item being offered. That's just stupid...

From a culture that coined the phrase "sticks and stones might hurt my bones...", one would somehow expect that they are more lenient on verbal expressions, than on.. ...let's say... ...gun control?

Or to put it into (for most) unintelligible German terms:

Die größten Kritiker der Elche,
waren früher selber welche.

Rough translation:
The biggest critics of the moose,
have their heads in the same noose

They all ready have your money, and by the time GW2 is out there will be a whole new generations of people buying the game. But thats not the point here it only a little side not to the industry.

Which is something that support will be taking care of.
The community doesn't really help in these matter every nutball and his dog adds there version of events, always leaving out the important parts, to the story.

I hope your friends get there accounts back, if there not guilty. If there guilty may the burn in a digital hell!

To a degree yes, but realise if I did something wrong, exploited/cheated/hacked I gonna try and make anet seem like the bad guys. Best way to do it is incite a moral panic on a community forums.

Difference is Anet can check, they know everything that goes on in the game, but isn't tempted to openly disprove lies, it also a matter of privacy.
And they do miss things because thay don't have people constantly reviewing logs for exploits and hacks.

This si speculation!
Speculation...?!
This is Guru!

Now you say it is stupid, but remember the out cries for anet to do something about the botter and the gold sellers... that were, are destroying the game *eye roll*.

It appears they are doing something, it not perfect but hey its a learning curve. Trading 100k for no item is kinda strange. So its not so stupid if your speculation is correct. Anet is fixing a problem.

100k for no items, that right there seem like a red flag.

Thing is, if it is as basic as a 100k +no item flag, botters will just switch to 80k or 50k or even 10k.

So, what, I can't lend a friend 10k or give it to them cause ANet can't spot bots (which move in obvious patterns) in some other way than trade?

And as to gold sellers "ruining" the game? That had nothing to do with making crystalline swords so rare they go for multiple millions etc, etc, etc ad nauseam, I am sure... or maybe not so sure. And 250 ectos for a pair of gloves was a reasonable decision for the economy....

Personally, I think ANet could do with taking a page from some other Korean MMO's and charging real money for "tokens" to get rare weps etc. Or just flat-out sell gold at around the price the gold sellers charge. I'd rather all that money went to Anet. Maybe then they could afford the GM's to implement a decent banning system.

Wow, i didn't know that was the original meaning. I use that word all the time! Never really thought about what it originally meant other than that things which are cool are now "total geil!"

The gilsellers have probably already figured out how to get around it, and yet the players will be stumbling upon the problem for weeks to come.

I personally dont agree with the bans, since FAQ means frequently asked question and people have the rite to tranfer as much gold as they want.

imo Anet is in danger of turning into the thought police.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO CHEER UP!

i see the name 'Sofa King Great' i laugh, it adds to my enjoyment of the game knowing im playing with people with a sense of humour. PCness if for the real world, i dont like the real world thats why i play GW.

First of all NO FLAMING, NO QQ, WHINING ETC.....this is only an observation, nothing else. Nice comments only are welcomed.

So here the thing, why for so long periods of time no one get banned then boom, out of the blue, tons of players get banned for offensive names and weird trading sessions.
After the above, the rest of your post read line a 'QQ / whine.'

It is very disingenuous to call for no whining within your own rant / whine. That was hardly an example of constructive criticism. the phrase 'constructive criticism' cannot be applied to anything to make it so. The words have to actually be constructive, and not rantish or otherwise accusatory.
