It is commendable that anet tries to control the game economy and changes the game to do this. The previous change that was made to reduce the gold drops had a very positive effect on the game economy with everything becoming cheaper and more affordable to everyone. So well done and congratulations on a great game.
But you must remember that this is a game and should be treated as such I have seldom played a game without using some sort of exploit and in some cases cheats just to allow me to finish the game. Playing maybe 1 hour per day it could take me years and I would lose interest in the game.
The guys that buy in game gold are paying players of your game and no matter what their reason for buying they are doing it to get more enjoyment of your game and are investing in it so obviously it is a compliment to anet that someone is willing to invest more money in their game to make it more enjoyable to them. The guys posting in this thread about the stuff they farm and sell must remember that they sell to people that bought the gold in the first place, if people did not buy gold then a Ambrace would be worth 10k in my opinion. So you are also profiting from the gold sellers.
I have friends ingame that farmed Titan gems very successfully in the early days of DoA and sold many for 80k, today a year later they still have hundreds of Pt stored away, today a Titan gem is 7-8k, these guys sold to people that bought the money from gold traders (nobody can afford that any other way). Are you to ban them too because they profited?
The adjustments you made with the drop rates were in my opinion much more effective allowing the good players to also afford the high end stuff, this is way better than what you are achieving with these bans.
