Would you rather wield a good looking weapon skin, or a bad looking rare one?
Kahlindra
I would never carry anything I didn't like the look of. For example I really dislike elemental swords so I would never, ever have one on my warrior.
That said, if I had a choice of two, both of which I liked, and one was rarer... I'd be wearing that.

I prefer ugly, common skins with bad stats

In other words, rarity is at best a secondary consideration. |
And ele FoW armor is the best. D<

I'd sell the ugly rare one and use the money to buy plenty of good looking common ones =)

Good looking to me over rare everytime - my warrior has a purple Greater Highlander Blade and I prefer that to a gold Crystaline or Torment Sword any day (and i could get the rare if I wanted), same with ranger - I like the shadow (or Ivory) bow look the best of the lot.
Lady Raenef
I prefer looks over rarity. The only ones I'd get purely out of 'need' is the Destroyer weapons for my hall.

Bad looking rare one. How often do you sit there and stare at your or someone elses weapon?
Hyper Cutter
Good looking weapons, whatever the rarity. I'll use a max purple (and have) if the skin is good...
Joe Fierce
crystalline is the most classic example of uglier than balls but wanted because of the prestige in its rarity.

Please calrify for me - are we talking rare meaning gold or rare meaning uncommon?
I prefer nice-looking weapons (with appropriate stats, of course). Doesn't really matter if it's purple or gold, though I'd take a gold over a purple - just looks nice while you mouse-over it.
Some skins only come in gold, I believe - at least, I've never seen a purple GPB or Jade sword.
Some greens have awesome skins - Vengence Seeker, for example, or Grenth's Grasp - that I'll spend hours farming to get while others, like the Factions end-game wands, are strictly 'meh'.

I have a choice to use a Tormented Axe and a Tormented shield or a Kanaxai's Axe and an Exalted Aegis on my warrior. I prefer to use the latter 'cause over time I've not realized just how much I like how a kanaxai axe and an exalted aegis looks when together. The tormented set wasn't all that it was cracked up to be imo and was deadly expensive. T.T

If it looks good to me, who cares about anyone else.

I will take a good looking weapon over a rare one any day. Though I would prefer a good looking rare weapon.

Why do people repeatedly make stupid threads like this.
People like stuff based on looks. Most dont care how rare the stuff is if it looks good wear it.
If you have a big ego and need to buy r8 go for it. some people like "perfection" hah

If it were free and it worked it's good enough for me.
I don't look at myself when playing and I hopes nobody else in the group looks at me either. XD
BTW, I currently use pickle on a stick wand and smelly pinecone offhand.

Gotta look good. Personally, I love the look of the Colossal Scimitar, but I think Turai Ossa's sword is actually nicer, even if it's free. I just surf the wiki and choose which skins I like the most, and aim for that, no matter the cost. Text color means nothing, either. My warrior has a collector's Shield of the Lion dyed black. I sold the gold r9 versions for some spending cash.

I get whatever i feel like getting (within budget of course)
Mainly just to look nice + different
so basically for me
Rare (nice) > Good Looking (Relatively Rare)

id say the same a kobey....always like look > rarity

I'd rather wear a good looking rare one.

Personally I can care less if it is a purple or a rare skin. Looks is everything

For me, the order of importance is:
1. Stats
2. Skin
3. Rarity
Of my items, I've most often received compliments on my Shield of the Lion from the nightfall collectors

From what i find, (no offence, just experience) that many of the people who would rather have stats over a rare skin, simply don't have enough cash to buy the rare/expencive skin in the first place. Or (not usually the case) but sometimes just can't bring themselves to spend that much money on a skin (my self lol, i got a few rare things that'd i'd just rather sell for the cash than keep).
Ultimately people with money will get rarer (possibly ugly) items just becase they can and status.
However you have to remember why some of these things became uber rare and expencive to begin with: they usually origionally had a good skin . Voltaic spears for example, there are other rare spears, just not as cool looking.

Personally, I would rather use a weapon that I like the look of. I've been using the same old Clairvoyant Staff that I crafted in KC for over a year now; common as muck, but I love the look of it. These days I have the funds to have pretty much any weapon I want, but in this case I don't want anything else (the staff in question was my first ever max weapon as well, so it's special - and totally irreplaceable).

Just my point of view:
Is gold vs purple considered rarity or good looking or not?
IMO, i rather have a r13 gold as compared to a r7 purple (of course it does not exist) just because the text colour looks nice :P

for me its skin first. the stats dont bother me too much as long as its 13-15>50 range. It doesnt really matter that its purple, but i like it to be gold, even if it costs a little more

Gold > Green > Purple > Blue > White...gold is so classic
Like my gold Shield of the Lion > Enadiz Shield > Turai's Shield
Must also have inscription slot -- I just like the names of those inscriptions
As for original question, I would rather wield rare to show off during PUG or PVP like everybody else

which one is worth more so that I can sell it off?

Fall in love with tormented longbow. In that case it is rare and look beautiful
Lord Sojar
Looks + Rarity is a nice combo.
Example: I hate the Crystalline Sword, glass meat cleaver much??...
So, even though they are super rare, I could careless, I will never wield one, EVER.

stats > everything else
as for the everything else:
Prestige >>>> looks
this is the case with BMP weapons - they're top quality, some of the bestest looking weapons in game, but they're as prestigeous as /preorder weapons.

i go for looks here but i also have a thing for the gold text lol

Until recently i used a Fanged Sword on my Warrior. Have since about 2 weeks after NF came out. Fanged is probably considered middle of the road in terms of rarity.......not rare but not massively common either. I used it because i liked the look more than anything else, and when i got it it was quite rare (but then everything was 2 weeks after NF started, lol). Only changed because i got a Runic Blade drop a few weeks ago which i think looks better. I'd not have changed otherwise.
For me: Appeals to me > Rarity
If i like it, i'll use it. As Rahja said i'd never use a Crystaline because, rare as they are i don't like them much. I'd sell it Sold my only Elemental drop a few weeks ago because again, as far as i'm concerned what i have already looks better.

Depends on what I am doing, If i am wielding weapons in town, i want it to be the best looking one.
If i am killing monsters outside of town it better be max and have the best mod, I'd use it even if its ugly.
