Would you rather wield a good looking weapon skin, or a bad looking rare one?

Efectiveness over beauty for me, i use alot of crafters weapons from HzH pimped up with mods. And i bought some greens for my ele(water and air) didnt even look at there skins.

I did buy a urgoz longbow(because everybody said it was the best), i resold it with a small profit. Because i thought it was ugly and not that good, surtenly not worth the price i paid for it... Back to my feathered longbow

Good looking weapon skin.

Problem arises when the good looking weapon skin is rare. Saving for a nice chaos axe, only axe skin I like.

Good looking. Thats why I have so rare stuff and also inscribable "crap" in my inventory. (gothic dual axe q8 15^50, but also use a greater jagged reaver, just because I like the skin)
Like the crystalline sword, so many ppl want it, coz its rare, but actually it looks so bad imo.

you must be special, every time I pull out a weapon in town I get tackled by paranoid guards ~_~

as for my opinion its stats first, then skin, and then rarity.
I have a max stat stormbow for my ranger now with the mods I wanted, took me forever to get because of its rarity, but i wanted it for the look.
On the other hand I also use a shortbow with great stats but the 2nd most common skin in the game. so its definitely not about rarity for me.
Most of the weapons I use are greens that i got dropped just from playing, I never buy anything, I just get them myself.

I've been trying to get a Turdimmit Axe forever though ><

Inscribable purples FTW... good skins, cheap, modded like I want.

I turned the first, craptacular Greater Guardian Spear that dropped for me (a req13 purple with bad stats) into my fav caster weapon ever, maybe beside my Gothic sword. My monk has a blue, non-max serrated spear caster-modded and since I don't use the weapon itself, who cares for damage?

I tend to keep the inscribable stuff until I can mod. I'm not using weapons much if they aren't modded. Modded partially, that I can deal with (like my necro's Mursaat shield, +30 only... but I still prefer his Gloom).

I wouldn't put perfect mods on a high req blue or purple weapon, just pains me to do it, even though the price of mods have dropped ... alot

My favorite weapon is my Req12 Longsword. My favorite sword skin. It is the only non-inscribable 15^50, +30 weapon that has ever dropped for me in the game. Dropped in TopK before factions was released.

I usually like to have nice skin, even if this means having a bit worse weapon. For example, I rather use my Oni Blades with +15% vs hexed (on a hex castless ;o sin) than Ungues of the Oni (+15%/-5 ene). And my Mesmer is using Greater Highlander Sword (with a +5 armor mod and nothing else ;o) + nice looking shield (req 8, but -2 while enchanted and +45 in stance) instead of a staff or wand/focus combo.

Just proves that you can be good without a leet uber OMG WTF FARM'D 4 100 HRS WPN!!11

i dont see why so many people flame the ele fow, female ele fow is the best looking armor in the game, buy it and you will realise also, most rare skins are good looking, most non rare suck arse, also id rather pay god knows what for a stygian reaver just because its gold than buy a murakais with the same looks and same stats for 7k also customary screenie

Look > rarity.
I have longsword R9 (9k lol), shadow blade R9 (60k), fellblade R9 (55k), gothic sword R9 (90k) and a crystalline R11 (100k+120e) which represents half of all the money I ever spent on the game (no FoW, i just don't like them). I offered it to my warrior when she finished all campaigns. And now I'm "farming" the BMP weapons because the skins are absolutely gorgeous, and you know what ? They are free

Stats over skin over rarity.

I don't really care how rare something is, if it's fugly (to me) I'll either sell it or strip the mods off with a perfect salvage kit and sell it for less. The crystalline sword does nothing for me aesthetically, I'd rather use my gothic dual axe or the Tengu sword/axe. At least they have a matching shield.

Caster weapons (excluding most of the BMP) have mostly had boring skins anyway so the rarer ones are probably the better looking of those. I <3 my new Dolyak Prod, not sure if it's even rare but I don't care.

I've always favoured stats over looks. Most of my characters use green weapons because they have the stats I want. Having NF, I found gold items drop pretty regularly and the inscription made it easier to mod. That's when I started paying a little more attention to skins, and replaced some greens with gold items. Usually, when I'm farming to pass time or doing quests/missions and a gold item that I like the look of drop, I mod it or save it for modding and then replace the current one used. If I already have something that's doing its job, I wouldn't bother replacing it just because it is a common skin, unless something I liked dropped as loot.

In terms of rarity, I'm not fully clued up with what is rare and what is not - I rarely trade with other players and barely keep an eye on the market. So it's possible that my characters use rare items, but it was chosen for its looks rather than its rarity.

Like others have said, I prefer functionality. That being said, if I like a particular skin I will use it, regardless of the rarity.

For me its all about looks. My Warrior goes for a Knightly appearance so I use a Long Sword and Tall Shield. Ofcourse they are perfect though, but thats not the point.

Most rare weapons look yucky. As long as it looks good on my chars, I dont care if its rare.

So you're protesting his opinion just because it's in the minority and you don't agree, even though the OP says leave your opinion?

Appearance is more important than rarity for me, but it is always nice when I can get a weapon that I love the looks of that is also rare, like a Runic Sword or the Chimeric Prism.

Its all about what I think looks best with my war. At the moment that is the Charr sword and Undead Shield.

One should also keep in mind that the rarest of skins are often the best looking. While that is certainly not always the case it is one of the reasons those weapons are rare in the first place.

Sometimes a weapons will appear 'nicer' if it is rare.

Just a point of view i have that rarity might affect the views of some people towards how nice a weapon is.

At least, it does for me

Must be good looking and good (req9-10).

I find Ele Swords, Crystaline Swords and Stygant Reavers do damn ugly. I dont know why you people pay so much for this crap.

And by the way, that Shield of the Wing is be the best good looking shield in the game, meanwhile you people pay 100 platinum and tons of ectos for a Tormented Shield (seriously, what the hell is that?! how can someone like that ?)
Talking about crap: Tormented Swords... NOW THAT IS CRAP!

The only thing i feel bad about not getting the Bonus Mission Pack is because i wont get to use the Tengu Daggers or the Tengu Scythe... now THAT is a good looking weapon.

You may think they look crap, but others think otherwise.

Please try to understand people view things differently and accept that not everyone think the same as you

I, at first think that crystalline looks really ugly. However after the introduction of tormented shields, I find that crystalline looks nice with it. (Its just how I feel)

Some match it with emblazoned, some with crude shields. Its just how peoplel want their toons to look like.

I'm free-floating on this subject. I personally love the Crystalline Sword skin because I believe it does look good - aside from it's rarity and value. At the same time I'm a fan of the common Dragon Hornbow, Tyrian Earth Staff (the one that Cynn wields) and the PvP Defender.

You will always get the black-dyed FoW wammos with an Amethyst Aegis, Moz Zing Mask, Chaos Gloves and an Elemental Sword because they are rare and not because they look good. People seek some sense of comfort and security from having rare items. Probably some sort of securtiy issue or lack of personal taste.

Common or uncommon are nothing to me.
The important thing is that I like it or not.
And that it has good stats obviously...
For example I really don't like the crystalline, even if it's the uber-rare and all.
If I'd find one I would sell it immediately for a good offer.
From the "mostwanted" FOW instead i bought only the helmet for my war and kurzick 15k for the other pieces (they fit well togheter IMO), and preferred to spent my money for a tormented shield (even if I agree that the Shield of the Wing is awesome).
As principal weapon I have a now-less-rare fellblade that I'll never change!
The elemental is too short for my taste... But I have to say that I love the Tengu sword skin! That's "free"!
But my war is happy as he's now!
IMO obviously!

It's all down to individual taste. I like the Elementalist and Assassin Obsidion Armour sets but probably wouldn't even look twice at any of the others. Sure rarity does have an appeal, but I don't think I'd spend countless hours and money on an Armour set that looks horrible to me, would you?

Personally I like Shadow Bows. I have one on my Assassin at the moment.
