Anet: How about some armor storage?

It's amusing listening to people try to refute this idea.
I'm glad 1 out of every 10 people that plays Guild Wars has no use for storage; while you can continue playing the game in the most miniscule ways and not thinking outside the box, we will continue to flourish in all that we have accomplished.
On that note.
Why the hell would they give us storage for crafting materials?
I for one, I dunno about others, get materials and use them. I don't store them. I don't plan to open my storage one day in 10 months and say "Hey look, 1,448 planks of wood! I should go craft myself an abundance of Parchment! And then I should go and waste time on failed attempt after failed attempt at selling those Parchments, because in-game trade with materials is soooo GOOD! YEAH!"
Ok, so some people are gods when it comes to trading/buying/selling in Guild Wars. That's great for you. You have the luck of the draw.
I hate selling in-game, because either A) People are too ignorant to disginguish a good deal from a bad deal, or B) People are too ignorant to realise that you're selling a 'good bow' when they themselves post that they "WTB a 'good bow'", or C) People think that spamming "WTS: 7 Gold Axes, 16 Gold Shields and a purple rubber dildo" will actually attract buyers. If you do, that's great, because when I try it, I get ridiculous responses like "Go to the trade forums you idiot." Or, "Nobody wants to buy your crap."
And please, save your useless responses regarding the fact that "Oh, but I use materials for making money all the time. Some people, spend hours farming materials, so they can upgrade their armor and get better weapons, like my Victo's blade." That's wonderful. I'm sure Victo's proud you chose his weapons above all.
So then technically you, too, find materials and SELL them. What use would a material storage be unless you plan on storing thousands of materials? What? You want your money all at once? The thought of watching your money counter slowly build up gives you a headache?
Please.
There are more valuable things to be kept in storage than the few hundred Ectos that I and many others don't have. However, if there was any material I WERE to store, it would be ectos, or rubies, or jade/amber, because THOSE can be sold for far more profitable prices than what the current vendor's are asking.
People need to stop nagging and crying out against people who need storage for such things as armor and weapon abundances, just because they themselves don't feel the need to have said abundances. That's great. You go play with your single set of armor, and when you decide to try being a Warrior/Elementalist with Platemail armor, and then want to try running but the armor's not doing anything and you're running out of energy, then come cry. Or when you realise that, in this world we called 'Guild Wars', there are certain setups for characters known as 'builds' and these 'builds' can be altered at any time on any character. The catch is that, many of these 'builds' require different items, which eventually 'build' up in your inventory (pun). You can have fun trying to run from Beacon's to Drok's with your Tanned Hide Squares, and I'll stick with my more valuable possessions thank you.
If only I had room to STORE IT ALL.

While Knight Online is a totally free MMORPG, it has 3 pages of Bank inv, if I remember correctly. Granted KO is not a fun, pretty, or good game, but it does give 3 pages of bank space.
Any one with more than one 15k set is insane and wasted LOTS of money. I could understand having multiple pieces of one thing, such as 2 helms with different rune on each but a full set is not practical.

call me insane but: 2 sets 15k plus 1.5k set legionaires
set 1- 15k kurz (sword helm, axe helm, glads chest, glads gloves, glads legs, knights boots)
set 2- 15k lux (-my sentinals set- helm, chest, gloves w/sword rune, gloves w/ axe rune, legs, boots)
set 3- 1.5k legionaires chest, gloves, legs, boots
extra pieces- 15k dragons helm w/sup str, droks tact helm, droks hammer helm, stonefist guantlets, 5 Lts helms w/ assorted runes, spare droks knights boots and 2 droks glads gloves (these 3 pieces are for SPECIFIC farm builds), and 3 holiday helms
add that up and you get 31 total armor pieces my warrior owns. are they all necessary? no, but i certainly dont consider my axe helm JUNK when im specced for swords. i dont consider my sentinals set JUNK when im wearing glads. yes, the stance armor and several other pieces are all for very specific situations, and yes, the hammer helm and stonefists are pretty much PvP only for me. but the point is that they each have their uses.
and FYI (to anyone and everyone), im not one of those people demanding hundreds of new slots. i DO realize that it is my CHOICE to own these sets/pieces. all i am saying is that it would be very nice to have some sort of armor storage area or at least a way to condense sets to 1 or 2 slots.

As someone who keeps the armor on the respective characters, I have at least 3 sets for each character. Example: Monk. 1. minus hp set. 2. Energy Set. 3. 1.5k luxon for boon prot.
And not to mention weapons, i rarely have more than the first pack open, which is pretty pitiful.

Material storage is bull. Oh man, now my 8 STACKING steel ingots can join the other 2 STACKING steel ingots on a different charcter! O boy. Armor storage is Greatly needed, not some material stroage that is coming "Soon".

I think they should release storage upgrades, which can be purchased at a merchant.
Such as
Minor Rune Of Holding +10 Slots
Major Rune Of Holding +20 Slots
Superior Rune Of Holding +40 Slots
Instead of just letting the runes work on Bags like the originals there would be certain types of runes for backpacks, beltpouches, and bags.
Such As:
Minor,Major, Superior Backpack Rune Of Hoding
Minor,Major, Superior Belt Pouch Rune Of Hoding
Minor,Major, Superior Bag Rune Of Hoding
Prices would vary on these upgrades which would be a final decision made by Anet
This is what I think it could be like:
Minor ,Major, Superior Backpack Rune Of Holding -------Minor=10k, Major=20k, Superior=40k
Minor ,Major, Superior Belt Pouch Rune Of Holding ------Minor=5k, Major=10k, Superior=20k
Minor ,Major, Superior Bag Rune Of Holding -------------Minor=5k, Major=15k, Superior=30k

Maybe I should have been more specific. I also have a warrior, necro, ritualist, elementalist.
On my war:
yule cap
2 swords
axe
hammer
shield
3 helms (not counting the yule cap btw)
2nd armor set
Necro:
death staff
curse staff
blood staff
scar pattern of death
scar pattern of curses
scar pattern of blood
2 other armor sets
yule cap
But I guess I still dont have real characters because I dont have the weapons for any kind of build that I may need to put together at the party leaders request.
PVP only characters are your friends because you can get whatever kind of weapon you want in 5 seconds. and you dont need aditional space for drops.
You people just seem to like to overstuff your chars with crap and then request 100 slots for customized items witch i think is a rediculous ammount.

Nah storage for armor sucks, I had the candycane shield and sword but sold it, 10 defense shield lol, that IS JUNK. And, why the heck would you store 3 different types of 1.5K or less armor? I understand the helms, for axe mastery or whatever, but rest gear, should already have there minor runes on, its not like +5 defense vs elements is biggy with +5 armor vs phys. They arent going to give you storage for your armor because thats stupid, why leave your armor in a storage, your going to forget it gaurenteed. I'm good at selling weapons, its just I dont wanna lower my f-ing price, which I should, if going to every zone and dist 1, and spamming buy this for 25K, twice isnt good effort what is then? You should get 2 dogs because you can sell the babys *duh. I have a monk too, and you know what, I only have 1 other armor set for him. My advice for you is by 1 armor set, 1 you think is teh best, no need to buy 1 with +10% defense vs phys, another 1 +10% defense vs ele, another 1 +4 energy, another 1 nothing. ITS WORTHLESS, just by 1 set lol. I understand buying a set for 55 monk though, but you dont need some dinky storage for it, carry it damnit!
Mylon
My suggestion is to add a Xunlai faction with the option to buy general storage slots, customized storage slots, material storage slots, and holiday storage slots. It'd solve the storage problem and make it into a gameplay mechanic!
Lucifer PVP
I would like a button simlar to where the cape button is on the inventory screen which would allow you to select which piece of armor you want wear and would be separate from bags.

I don't put armour in storage. I would rather have more bags on my character for it, than have to start making a trip to storage every time I change skills, and then realising once I am in the mission I brought one piece wrong.

Also, you guys probably shouldn't be looking for storage for armor. Storage is meant to hold items that all your characters can use. Maybe you should look into something more like you can equip up to for armors at once, and you chose which one you wear with a drop down thing(one that would be similar to the one that allows you to show/not show your cape, or similar to the one that allows you to chose when your head armor shows), but this drop down thing will let you chose which armor you are wearing accually takes effect. I would MUCH rather something like this than putting something that only one character can use in teh storage, when the storage is meant for items all chracters can use.

storage should have 10 - 15 more spaces for "general" items and bags should have 5 more spaces(you have to buy another upgrade in order for the extra slots to be available).
I think that the overall customisation of slots for weapons/customised armour/materials will end in failure, and will probly start another arguement "why arent these slots available for everything" later on down the track. Just keep it simple.

There is only a very small difference between them and it would be best just to buy 1 set of armor (the one you like most). The only reason I could possibly see anyone multiple armor sets is just for the look, and if you'r trying to do that, you might as well not buy the extra armor that has exactly the same stats as the one you have and just save up for obsidian armor.

And who says that storage is meant for items ALL characters can use? You? Where do you get off telling me how *I* should use *my* storage space? My wife and I share a closet, but I don't wear her clothes or use her makeup. And how many items do you REALLY share between your characters? Crafting materials and collector items? Dyes? Maybe a weapon or two? We just got crafting material storage, but it caps out at 250 of a material, which isn't even enough for a set of 15k armor.
I don't think ANet will ever give us any more "generalized" storage space, otherwise they would have done so. The crafting material storage has set a precedent. Armor/Customized item storage slots are a logical expansion: it's your "wardrobe."

but that leaves open plenty of other options to free up spaces for general storage.
standardized items include (but not limited to)
event items
masks hats etc
assorted halloween/wintersday items (stacking/singles) like CC/peppermint shield etc
beverages ranging from rice wine to eggnog
and others from bean cakes to ghost in a box.
each one will free up a general slot for armor/item/etc
dyes are included in the standardized catagory as well
i gained 14 slots of general storage from this
armor slots i dont think so as there are too many variables on each one while the other items are standard and only require 1 byte to tell how many if any are in an assigned slot
boxterduke
I'm still not sure why they did not add the armor and headmasks storage when they did the last update.
By the end of wintersday, people were demanding holiday item storage and I believe that Gail hinted on the storage and said it will be coming soon.
Back to topic, I would love an armor update, as any Mesmer would tell you, we love to just buy armor. And because of that I also have lots of armor for my other characters as well and it is getting tight. I do not have the heart to delete the nice ones and I wonder how it will be down the road after a couple of chapters hit the shelves.

It would be relatively easy to add storage with a flag that restricts the storage to customized items only; probably far easier than setting up slots for other collectibles (believe me, I'd love to have storage for all the rest of those holiday items I still have lying around, but I don't see that happening.)

Kai Nui
I have multiple sets easy, I have nothing better to blow my money on, and with different clothing I can run different builds differing from IW mesmer to a domination mesmer. I might not always run an enchantment or always need a superior illusion rune, so different armors do matter, they matter a lot. A while back someone had an idea for an armor that contained the essence of all armors once you imbued it with certain powers so that you could swap between different things without being penalized. I'd like to choose what type and what rune is on that piece of my body tyvm. It'd also give PVPers an equal footing.

i was thinking a grid (same as materials with a series of spots for each item (either a singleton like ginger focus or stakable like eggnog) which are simply empty or have a quantity.
since those are standardized items there would be no need to check for modifiers of all types.
which means modified helmets (my pumpkin helmet of strength) would not go in.
mixed dyes would bounce as well.
but the rest of the standard items would take off a lot of pressure.
ALSO unused event items should have a slot as well to save for next years event such as the 178 jade orbs i have left over and the naga fangs for the tengu mask next year.
long ago it was stated that additional storage method (S) were being looked at and they would be implemented slowly/carefully into the game.
i see this as a first baby step compared to what the final result will be.
like faction started small, was raised, raised again, then multiplied by 5 to get where it is now.
my storage is cramped but i will wait (and buy a couple slots as more mules when they come out)
Joraala
Maybe we could take the everquest-like storage approach. Why don't we make the storage have SOME storage for THAT CHARACTER ALONE, and have a smaller "shared storage" We would have enough storage for just that character, for the use of customizes and what not, but still have the other storage for my other characters. I hardly ever have to change my items from character to character, and if so, use the shared storage. I don't think we will get a bigger storage alltogether, this is an alternitve..

First ,objectively i can say that it's not logical that your storage(looks like a big chest) got less space than you can wear on your character(only bags).
It could be nice if they had a "private" storage(about same space of the original one), but for each character(that only the owner can acces) and only for customized item!

I think customized storage is great. One of my characters has one set of armor, another has two, and the last has three. I am a bow collector, and on my ranger I have about 10 green bows and 2 special skinned bows, which take up a lot of space. Then I have the holiday helms one one of my characters.
I never say no to extra storage.

When all of my six (soon to be 9) characters have multiple armors and holiday items that can't be obtained anymore, I too would like to have a place where to put it all. That would perhaps allow me to buy all the nice looking armors as well, not only those necessary for different builds...
