Its not however good enough to play if they charged a fee.

But my own cheapness aside, let's list some reasons why I won't pay a fee for any GW game. 1. The community has gone to crap. By far this is the most important reason. The bickering drives me nuts sometimes. 2. ANet keeps changing things. I realize there's a balance to be kept, but instead of separating PvP and PvE, one keeps feeling the impact from abuses by the other. I'm going to pay monthly to be pissed off? Sorry, I already have a Time Warner bill. 3. For $15 a month I can get the movie channels. 4. I've seen people get banned for no reason, or lose a toon over a name as simple as Mez Yer Azz. This is part ANet's fault, and part the community's fault... hell, part society's fault. If Mez Yer Azz pisses you off, you have issues. Basically, if I wanted a monthly fee for living through an assload of grief for those one or two rare moments of pure joy, I'd get married. I would not pay to play a video game I already paid for. |

In this case more money could simply mean more profit and only means more content if Anet would link cash influx directly to content which Blizzard doesn't do either because guess what...they pay a monthly fee AND have to pay for expansions. And with 8 million or more players as they boast they are either running very expensive servers or they are just cashing in big time on all those millions who accept to pay more than they really need to for their game. If I look at the 144 Euro's people have to spend on monthly fees each year and the fact that I can buy 3-4 other games with that same amount of money then I would choose the other games for variation. It doesn't matter which game you play but after a few years anybody would want to play something else for simply variation. And that goes for WoW players as well. In that sense GW2 is a great move as it is. But just take note that simple math only applies to simple situations without any applicable variables and this is not the case here. |
