When I made the comment about adding things like Ectos, rubies, sapphires, obsidian shards to "the chest" I was talking about the Zaishen Chest. I do know that some of them drop out of chests already, and as to whether or not they are also added to the Zaishen chest as well... that would suck IMO I have no clue what the Zaishen chest has to offer except for LOTS of Creme Brulee and Flasks of Firewater lol. Might as well throw a Coffer gem set in there and every little treasure the game has to offer. I wouldn't mind easier access to tormented weapons. Everything else has dropped in value.

The rewards at the end of Urgoz used to be worth doing the 3-4 hour mission. Now I find out that the Longbow is worth like 10k now? Opposed to the 100k + xx ectos? It's bound to happen. I bought my Saurian Scythe for 90k back when they came out. And then the funnniest one was buying Murakai's Reaver. I knew the price was gonna drop but I HAD to have it now... I paid 70k for that lil bugger LOL.

Weapons lose their value but Kuunavang's price keeps increasing? Interesting.

I do accept the fact that I may never have a Mini Polar Bear, much like Panda, Vizu, Island Guardian, Yeti, Naga, Zhed, Kanaxi.... so on and so forth. I will enjoy the ones I do have and secretly hope for more storage...

People seriously need to chill, pun very intended, stop whining about that damn hair ball and move on with your lives, the Canthan New Years Festival is ext and we'll get other minis then.

Kuunavang rises in value because it's one of the few minis that was only obtainable one way, and will (unless Anet break that) never be obtainable any other way. It was added to the accounts that had the Collector's Edition of Factions as an apology for the issues with the CE distribution - it was late for many territories.

It's not a birthday mini, it's not a drop, so the numbers ingame will never increase in that way. Unless there's a sudden surge of people buying the CE of Factions (which is still around, but not in the same numbers as the Nightfall CE) the Kuunavang will not see a population explosion. Also, worth taking into consideration is that some people who have it may not be playing anymore, which removes even more from the game - after all I rarely see people using the Divine Aura anymore.

The amount of weapons / birthday minis increases as time goes by, but not the amount of Kuunavangs (and other one-shot minis). It's not in the same league as the Vizu or Panda though.

The only thing I'm mad about is that they took the collectors away right away. I know we had at least three days to a week last year to at least trade our shards for presents and ectos for tonics. I expected the exact same thing this year and am stuck with a ton of shards and a few left over frozen ectos.

I know I'm gonna sound Grinch-like, but I just find the whole "event" to be insufferably stupid.

At this point in time I have no idea what you guys are most upset about, the collectors being taken away before you could get more presents to horde or not being able to farm your brains out for a polar bear. I farmed the polar bear didn't get it, but I was smart enough to cash in my shards every so often this year while I was farming because I can tell time and I knew the collectors would last much longer. Not hard.

2nd. You didn't get a polar bear, oh well. Live with it.

3rd-Pygar you need to play the game before you start complaining about the economy for it. Also, my boyfriend has a derv. He uses 4 different scythes and a staff on his derv for pve.

Yea well we can tell time as well. Which is why many did not trade in their shards. If you remember last year or were even here last year, the collectors stayed a while after the general event was over. That is why i still have all these shards in my inventory. I stopped playing GW as soon as i got the two hats and then i went back to all the things i had to finish up. When I finally had time on Friday I expected to be able to get all the shards and ectos that dropped for me during the quests turned into presents or tonics. Unfortuantely I got a nice little virtual slap when i logged in.

Some off us like me didnt/dont have lifes GW is all we have, our collection of minis is all we have, our titles are all we have, im ugly cant get a GF, cant make freinds, cant afford much, i spent 30 hours straight farming that "hair ball"(mini polar bear) and got nothing, my alliance counted my succesful runs for me, and it was over 200 runs(successful) and got nothing, i dont feel as tho i was screwed i feel as tho i deserve a second chance, Not by extending WintersDay but by having the polar bear drop in the secret lair of the snow men dungeon from the end chest, with the same rarity as a mini mallyx/ghostly hero.

That was LAST YEAR bud, so, if you played THINKING (like an IGMO) that THIS YEAR would be EXACTLY like last year then that is your fault and no one elses. Anet told you when the event would start and when it would end, if you can't read and comprehend that then that ALSO is your own fault. Too bad you snooze you lose, good luck NEXT YEAR.

Why does everyone complain? The event is over and thats it! I hate how people just blow over the enjoyment of the events and just seek out another way to make money for their greedy asses. Its a game, not a way of life. If you don't make the money in game, you wont be living on the side of the street drunk and living in a cardboard box.

Well GW is certainly not all I have but this event did show me I was investing too much into it so gonna take a break again for a little while.

Had a blast today -

gave away all my minis for snowman sumoners

Turned in everything for cash (around 600k) and bought ectos, a tormented bow, destroyer weapons, and took my last two nice minis (a kuuni and a lich) created a character named Your Fairy Godmom and gave it all away to a polite lvl 14 assassin who responded to my pleas for help with the game - that was blast.

Tonight i will shoot off my 750 snowmen and 50 sparklers

And then take a break for a couple of months.

I may have complaints about GW but at least with the way it is now I can come back with a new char in NF, get any build I want with tomes, get a run to the docks for armor, hop up to EotN and get as much cash as I need or want in a few weeks of running the dungeons. (can probably make back the 600k in less than two months Maybe, I'll do another give away in July)

In the mean time - take care - enjoy the game and I will see you all in the spring.

Now this I agree with. No one's saying they deserve the pet per se , but due to the botched communication between the developers and Gaile , and Gaile and the community, It's only fair that A second chance is given to the community to get it (with time and huge effort of course like the above poster's idea).

I think that would right the wrong that people are feeling about this, making the "apology" that Gaile gave, sound less like a joke.

Also I think the Anet designer who masterminded the "surprise" must of been on crack, because I mean , It itsnt exactly rocket science -

- If the pet is only availiable for a very limited time and is extremely rare , you dont keep silent to the community for it to just be "discovered". That only pisses people off.

- You DO that kind of surprise when its possible to obtain the miniature all year round, like how the Ghostly hero can be.

SO to summarise:

1- Anet saying at the start of the Festival that there is a "Mystery Gift" in the wintersday chest , or a miniature , the kind of which they leave undisclosed, is a GOOD surprise.

2- Anet keeping quiet about all aspects of the miniature until it's discovery. = BAD surprise.

Is it that hard to do it right?

And seeing as Anet went with no. 2, I think some rectification is in order, because there are alot of pissed off players who only wanted a fair crack at it.

Ps - dont even think about calling me mercenary or greedy or you will start a flame war, because I find such remarks highly offensive, given that they're untrue. I would not sell a mini Polar bear if i DID get one anyway. Personal enjoyment, and I could accept failure If I got a fair period of time to work with. Which I did not feel was given. Some things are more important than gold.

Your mistake is that you assume the game/aspects of the game means the same to others as it does to you. This is ignorant thinking imo. To some . pvp is everything, to others they love the minipets most , others like collecting armour, some people only play casually , others are hardcores ad really get into it, no one is wrong for how they are and everyone is different. live with it.

So dont go saying "its just a game blah blah", because clearly not everyone is a casual gamer, and for many, the Mini Polar bear has absolutely nothing to do with money.

well its over, but the snow still remains---if they get rid of it I would be happier about not turning in those shards that dropped after the event was over....

Not exactly over... I am overly curious as to which side won the candy cane shard votes. Though many are tired of the lag and holiday stuff, I for one like the chance to "play" and not game during this time of the year. It is a nice break from the "grind" in the game. So... Is Wintersday (Winter) going to be extended or not?

I was actually one of the people that were out celebrating new year's instead of spending that time in a room playing GW and missed all the fun of the January 1st event. I wonder why the hell they made the event in a time were people are known to usually be somewhere else, even if it lasts the full 24h.

well if they do extend it, by the time it is over Canthan New Year will be starting

It'd be cool, also a finale redux would be good, I mean.. who the hell wanna get up on 1 January, after a loooong new year's eve?

I think 18 days is more than enough time for an event.

I disagree anyways, the event should end as normal.

I would like this event to end, for the following reason.

1) To stop me and many others from farming MPB no stop
2) To remove this ridiculous amount of snow that is in both LA and Kamadan
3) To take out all those out-dated decoration
4) It's the freaking new year sooooo we should get everything back to normal!

I /notsigned for GENERAL Wintersday contest (like decorations etc.), I can sign for extend Snowball AT with fixed dwayna/grenth skills.

I was at every event bar one and got about 100mpoints tops on the titles, so dont worry you missed them and go open a couple of chests and you'll be ahead

On topic, /not signed, although I would love for the drops to stay in pre searing so there is some method to get sugar/party (it would also give players starting chars a gold bonus if they sold them to us permas) - Ive already given up on getting a polar bear a week ago
