Simple...how do you all choose the names for your characters. Do you rely on ancient D&D names? Do you come up with something funny? Do you visit a name website and pick out a name? What is your reasoning behind your characters and future characters names?

Most of my characters are named after mathematicians. Gotta tell you, female chars take some serious googling.

I give them some sort of title at the beginning of the name that goes with their profession first (usually). Like my ranger is "Bowman." My new Dervish is "Acolyte." And then I (usually) add something that has "Leyt" in it. Simple.

I hear you on that... and apart from that. The name "Darkevil Bloodshadow Angelwarrior Phoenix" doesnt fit in the namespace for a new char

I just took my CSS gamename. I chose it for the way I play... Rush in and hope for the best

i find an easy name that realates to the character, like for a ranger master of nature. Then i go online to a translator and find something that sounds cool in anopther language, like latin. My rangers name is now Mathios Domno, which sounds cool.

I generally play only 1 character and I use same name in every game for the last 10 years or so.

I hate you. :P

PS #2:
I hate when people name characters X name X, or any version of this.

I go to a latin-english translator, see what I find that fits the character concept, alter it slightly so that it sounds like a Latin name (in general the majority of Latin names seem to end in -us) and then use that.

My main Character, and the name I always use:Halmyr comes from the DnD book : complet warrior, him being the god of skill and strategy.

Other names come from various Magic the gathering book: Jeska, Sister of Khamal in the prophecy series. Ixidor from the next one. Ect....

Always Try to grab a character I know and had some thing like "The patient" at the end.

I chose really random names for all characters except my main, which i made "I Am Snowflake", and Snowflake is a nickname i got from a friend IRL. My others are whatever comes to mind first because i dont really care about them. My dervish is named "Mmmmmmmmm Mmmm" because i wanted a really long name and thought it would be interesting. Most of my other characters are named "I Am _______" such as I'm Sho Shexy, Ima Bish slap you, I Is Special, and Im God dont kill me.

So yeah, its pretty much what ever comes to mind when i'm making them. Their names arent too important to me.

I use silly/funny stuff, usually related to my real name... or not. My necromancer is named after a friend of mine's character, while my assassin has a real ninja's name, but based on a video game version of him. Here's a few examples:

- Cheran Doher: necromancer. The character is based on another character one of my friends made for a story; we both thought he fit the physical profile. Kinda ironic because the original version was a demon hunter, and Cheran being a necromancer, dealing with the dead...
- Xander The Ranger: obvious profession, but fits him so much - he really, really looks like me.
- Resident Weirdo: my ritualist, comes from the fact I used to introduce myself as my guild's "resident weirdo".
- The Xandervish: obvious profession again; Xan|der... Der|vish...
- Slash Tank: male warrior; a warrior slashes, /tank (slash tank), fact I'm a gay man who likes slash (light-ish gay romance novels/short stories, usually based on video games, anime, etc).

As for PvP characters, whatever goes through my head at the time. "Xander Goes Female" was my female necro bloodspike name; "Annoying Was Server" when ANet servers were going haywire (rit); In Your Closet I ([HiDE] is my guild tag. I was a sin in AB.) My current one is I Dont Wanna Reroll (didn't wanna reroll a ranger for Zaishen trapping, lol).

I had chosen "Swift" and then found out names are in two words. I added Amryn at the end and have decided to name all my characters with Amryn. If I have a PVP character, that might break the pattern, but that name is still to be thunk up.

I named my Ele Cider Amryn, mainly because I like the name Cider...I had a warlock in WoW named Cider.
