Rare Minipets

I had the idea of adding rare minipets to the Zaishen Chest. Most Minipets such as Certadon, Greased Lightning, etc. people can't get any more. I think it is unfair that only certain people could get these and only certain areas. Panda was only offered to Taiwan, but I want one. So this would be cool, or you could randomly give gifts in-game that contain a random minipet. Maybe 1,000 people in each area at the first of every month (America, Europe, etc.) get an item in their inventory that says, "Monthly prize" or "Special Prize." I also would request one of these for the great suggestion (*cough* Kanaxai). Thank You for reading my post.

Edit: Read over all of the posts and here is my argument.

My system isn't so that 1,00 people a month get Kanaxais or that everydrop in the Zaishen Chest is a Vizu, No! My argument is that there maybe 1 Kanaxai in 3 months of giveaways, and the chance of getting Kanaxai in the Zaishen Chest is the same as getting a req8 Crystalline. With the Zaishen Chest method people would earn the pet. They earn the keys by getting factions, or farming to buy them. I never put anywhere that the rare minipets would be handed out. My suggestion keeps them rare, but makes it possible for them to be had. For you people who say go and earn it, even if i did farm 24/7 for 365 days and got the money where do I find it? Who is selling? The point was to make them more available, not to give out a million and change the entire economy. For the people who /notsign they generally say the same thing, "Earn It!" I have been playing as long as you guys and I know what your saying, but the people who have been playing for years i expected better of you. How can u be naive? They are rare and they cost a lot, but they don't help the economy if you can't afford or even find it. I just hit the two year mark on one of my characters and both b-days he got whites. I participated in the Asura and Gray Giant minipet zine things. I sold both for under 25k each when they came out. There were hundreds of thousands, but I never got the chance to get a Panda or a Kanaxai. How do you earn those? You say people won tournaments to get those, but what if im not in a good gvg guild, what if i don't like pvp? Then what? A lot of you also said that this isn't an item based game! I beg to differ. If it isn't an item based game then why are mini's 8000k+. If it isnt item based then why do people care to have them so much! My point isnt to give away rare minipets to every player in guild wars, but to change it so instead of trying to find the 20 that exist you have a chance to get one in the chest. My goal would be that in six months maybe ten more would exist, or twenty more. If you look at Crystalline Swords they are still worth hundreds of thousands of gold, but they still fall out of the zaishen chest. I believe that even if i wanted to earn a mini kanaxai i couldn't, and thats why i believe this is fair.

i agree, its unfair that some people get it free by random chance and we have to buy it off them for like 1mil+ because there is no other way to get it because it was 1 time only

adding minipets to the zaishen chest would be nice. Can't be hard to replace at least some of the creme brulee/firewater with a minipet :P

a mini zaishen general or a mini Guild Lord as unique minipet from the chest would be nice aswell. much like the mini Ghostly Hero in HoH

either this, or give us more quest like stuff, like for the black moa chick ...

or sell them as minipet-packs in o-store (auto dedicated to your hom when bought)

or more promotion mags with these minipets and not ever with somethign total new then, like you made with asura, grey... and ceratodon


4million+ players.. but only 100-1000 of these minipets ingame isnt fair .... all minipets should be able to collect by everyone....


get rid of these ridiculous insane high prices fro these minipets, which can pay only gold buyers and farm botters or people with no life at all.... NO minipet should cost more than 100 Platin...

I'd be also for the idea of implementing ingame some TRADERS, which trade for you in minipets, when you bring them stuff they want for them ...

this way those npcs's become also a bit more interesting...because i personally find trader npc#s totally uninteesstign, they trade only the boringst weapon skins and wow..u can trade armors...just to spare up some money and mats wow...thats only interestign for the perma poor noobs, but once you got some money and know where to farm....why bother further with those dumb traders when they offer you absolutely nothing of REAL interest...

I own no rare minipets... only a handful of 1st birthday ones that I received or bought.

You have an opportunity to get plenty of minipets at reasonable prices... If you want the ultra-rare ones, then you can work for them and earn them. Besides, Anet has made them available through contests as a matter of luck for those who don't want to save up and buy them.

The in-game economy depends on rarity of certain items. Sure, everyone wants one of everything--particularly rare items--but if Anet simply makes every rare item available to every player then the in-game economy disappears. Part of the point of an MMO is to create a world in which to immerse yourself. Part of that world is the in-game economy. Destroying the in-game economy seriously detracts from the experience of the game.

I would like a mini-panda or Zhed as much as the next guy, but there is a larger priority at issue here. Anet doesn't deserve to take flak from players who complain about unfair treatment: "I'm not getting as much for my money as the guy with a mini-Kanaxia". When you buy the game you are paying for the missions and the immersive-world experience; not for the opportunity to collect every item in the game. If you want that sort of experience, go invest in a Nintendo DS and a Pokemon game.

Phoenix, I'm concerned that you need to have every mini to enjoy the game's content. Besides, does having an item sitting in your inventory or Xunlai chest really constitute in-game content? The mini-pets are fun perks, but essentially do nothing. Go play through a few missions with a novelty build... Or try doing Forum Highlands hardmode and agro as many Heket and Harpies as you can at once and see if you can survive.... Don't base your enjoyment of the game on novelty items. You'll feel a lot more satisfied.

but is it fair that someone can do one run and get a mini polar bear, and someone can spend the whole event doing the dungeon and never getting a single one? the lucky one now never has to farm for the rest of his GW life, he can buy a couple sets of FoW armor, the other guy gets nothing for his time, and now the polar bears are unattainable

I agree with you to a point... Like I said, I wish I had rare minis as much as the next guy.

I think my point was more to the larger issue of what the game is really about. As much as you might want one, is it really necessary to have every single mini to enjoy the game for its content?

I guess I just prefer to enjoy the game for what it is instead of finding things to complain about. I've been playing GW for about 2 years and have enjoyed every minute of it, and feel as though my ~$200 was well spent. I could chose to say "hey, I don't have a mini-Zhed. Anet ripped me off; I want my $200 back." Or I can just go play the game and have fun.... That's the point I was trying to make. At the end of the say, do you need every single mini? I have all but the rare 1st b-day ones and a few extras... That is quite a few. Do I need all of them to enjoy the game.... Hells no.

If you differ in opinion, that is fine... I don't expect everyone to agree with me... But I think I'm enjoying the game a lot more than some others because at the end of the day I'm in it for fun and not for competitive collecting.

I read every post in the thread, and not once did someone say "give me everything free please". Where do you people pull this crap out of?

He wants a chance to get something that he otherwise has no chance of getting. It doesn't have to be a big chance, which means Balthazar faction farming, chest running, rinse and repeat over and over again for a tiny chance that he may get something.

I am getting sick to death of the "work for it, no handouts" comments from the select few who fail to realize that they would be working for it. Are you really that stupid?

Besides, this is a game. If i wanted to grind for stuff, I do enough of it in real life.

GW is not a item-stat based game. More or less all items are only for looks. And this is a prime example of them. If you want a rare one work for it. If not get a cheaper one. It does the same.

A.net created the super rare minis themselves when they only gave out a few dozen of them. They knew they would be rare and worth millions. If a.net wanted them to be more available, they would have done so when the minis were first released.

That is the point - we have millions of players, which are WILLING to WORK for those minipets, but ANET gives us simple not the CHANCE for them to let us work for them ...

Everything ANet made about these rare Minipets are yet only Events and Promotions where only limited amoujts of them were released.. but they gave us yet nothing, that enables it every player to get them...

I WANT to work for them... what I don't was is getting forced to farm and grind endlessly, to become able to buy eventuelly them with platin and unhumanous amounts of ectos ...and therefore give up my life >.> thats insane and anet should get rid if this, because its also one of the biggest reasons, why GW got so flooded by Gold Sellers and Farm Botters ...

Guy.. u have absolutely NO clue, what it means in the moment "to work" for the ultra rare minipets...i doubt u even have any clue about, how rare they are really and what you have atm to pay for them ...

When you have found that out, than simple sum all that amount of platin and ectos up and let then the unhumanous sum of platin and ectos needed melt on your tongue, before your brain will realise, that this sum is totally UNREACHABLE..total IMPOSSIBLE to reach ever as a NORMAL SIMPLE player which doesn't farm bot and/or buys gold from gold sellers .... unless you really explode out of luck in kind of your gold item drops and sell permanently stuff for several douzens of platin or even 100 platin and several ectos....

because alone by farming in the underworld you will never receive in a humanous time span all those ectos people want for the very rarest minipets ... without buying them from other people also not ...

all thsoe pets need really to become alot more common and have to reach like the cost of the Grawl (but imo should no minipet cost more then 100 platin, what would be easily done by giving the game finally for all those minipets moa chick like quests ...)

then the player has the choise of either making the quest for them, or buying the pet from someone else, who made the quest ... pets become more common, prices will become humaous and farm botters and gold sellers will lose 1 of the biggest reasons for existence...

Wins the thread, along with the other guy. When everyone has access to the previously "rare" minipet, it becomes no longer rare, and no one cares about it anymore. It'll just be stashed away in storage and HoM.

This isn't pokemon. You don't have to collect it all. If you want to, then be prepared to earn the gold for it. I don't farm, I don't power trade, and I don't buy gold/bot. But I still have over 4 million in gold/ectos, and a lot more in weapons, armors, deleted armors/characters, etc. So don't give me that crap that no one can get money without buying gold or farming 24/7. If I really wanted them, I could fork over my gold for 1-2 of the middle ranged rare minipets.

Rare things are good and fine, ok, but only so long, as they stay "getable" for everyone.

From under 100 to 100 to slightly over 1000 for certain limited minipets ingame in a game that has over 4 million players is an absolute insane ridiculous relation ratio...

god.. should they make those ultra rare minipets the new 3rd year ones. Id find this also absolute ok...they would be an awesome fitting reward for players which reach soon the 3rd birthday year ...

I play GW nearly since its release and I can't say from me personally, that I played all over the time, like a casual gamer..I farmed and played often for hours and have never got so much money or Ectos at all ...

The promotion concept around the minipets simple sucks in fairness, in kind of minipets I dare to doubt even, that ANet knows the meaning of the word "fairness" at all

Because you're bad. Go play WoW, and after grinding for that super-powerful gear, you'll learn that 99% of things in GW is already easily handed to you on a silver plate. The remaining 1% (rare minis, etc.) is what keeps a lot of the powertraders going and gives them something to aim for.

Would you rather not have any promotions at all then? With the exception of the lucky few, everyone else has the same chances of getting those minipets through a trade. And most of the people who have those pets now bought them. Plus, if you want to pay $10-15 a month to get a 10 out of 1000000 chance of getting a rare minipet in the promotion event, be my guest. But I'm sure even you can figure out that's pretty bad for your money. You probably didn't even know they had subscription fees, do you? Stop being a crybaby.

The only reason you prefer a Mini Zhed over a Mini Koss (wanted to say devourer, but that one is just dull) is just because it is more rare. You want to show off you got the money to buy Zhed.
If Zhed was available to everyone, you just wouldn't care on buying it. Everyone already has one, why should you need it?

Leave them rare so you actually got something to look forward to if you happen to get the money this year.

There is the twist in minipets.. would they be so "useless", as so much people say..they wouldn't be so ridiculous high priced.. regardless of how rare and limited they are... so they would be also useless for all those powertraders ect. The only reason why powertraders are interested in them is cause of us people.. which want to collect them all >.> because we have a personal reason in collecting them.

The reason of powertraders having them is only to sell them as quick as possible with a highest as possible profit out of them ... but there will also come sooner or later the point, when people like you will realsie, that being super mega rich is not everything in GW ...

At least at the point, when your chest and all your characters are full of gold to the max, your chest is complete full and you haver no space for any more ectos, and u've everything done, seen and unlocked ect...then will come the point in game life as super rich player, where yo uwill realise, that all this ingame money had only destroyed your real life and that you can't buy your RL back with virtual money ...

Took the words straight out of my mouth. Zaishen chest is already an /easy button to nearly all weapons in the game. There's no reason mini pets should be added.

It may be a one in a million chance, but we all know that people will get them. Rare miniatures are not rare so that they can be made easily ascessable. That's not their purpose, and never will be. They're like the Collector's edition games.

Not to mention that the Zaishen chest was designed to reward PvPers for their balthazar faction. As I remember, you can't use mini's in PvP. All in all, no logical argument that they should be added.

No. Let there be rare, completely useless crap in game to satiate the hardcore players. You can't have everything in game as it is, so just give up already and be happy with what you can get.

And shut it already with the e-peen crap, I've never seen anyone say, "Shut up n00b, I've got a Kanaxi!" because everyone with the damn things knows that they're useless and mean nothing. They're just goals to work for; some people like to have high goals to reach, and since it doesn't hurt your play style in any way, let them keep them.

Imagine if someone were to ask to remove everything that you found rewarding, you'd be pretty pissed and quit, wouldn't you?

There really needs a way for it to be feasible to get these ultra-rare minipets, give some people a fair shot at them. Don't just let the Taiwanese have the Pandas, unless you're willing to farm/ebay 6000k.They need to have some way to be attained by the average player.
