Compare to The Elder Scrolls and even WoW, and as an "rpg," Guild Wars is seriously lacking. I have no problem with that, because I have fun with it as-is. |

But to answer your comment, I find no major difference between Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate, Oblivion, or NWN, that set them apart in such a manner as to deem GW *not* an RPG...

If Guildwars isn't an RPG, then what is it?
An action game? no
A shooter? no
A RTS? no
A puzzle? no

at this point in time due to what i have read about the features of GW2..no, i wont be buying it.
Also, i may not even be able to run it on my comp. And im definetly not going to run out and upgrade a perfectly working machine just to run a game. It may not be a top of the line comp...but i really dont need a top of the line machine.
A lot will definatly be decided with the beta...speaking of beta...will all GW1 players be offered the beta, or will it be a luck of the draw thing? If I get to play beta then maybe. (compatability features being met of course) If i cant get in on beta, then a definate NO.

Will I buy it? Of course. It depends on what else is on the market at the time, though. GW2 might be a second purchase.

Guil Wars is.... eh.... er...
Competitive and Cooperative
Roleplaying and Player versus Player
Leveler and Action
Game.
Or something like that.
Who cares about what it is? It's fun!
I'm definitelly getting GW2 as soon as:
- I get a job to pay it.
- I get a better machine to run it.
- I get KoaBD Rank 6 and a completely filled HoM with my main character to take her to GW2.

I'm with Vinraith on this one, I dont like the idea of playing with 100000 of the most immature people in the world all at the same time (groups of 8 is plenty), and along the lines of Viking---wont be getting a new computer just for a computer game---so in all likelihood neither me nor my husband (whose computer is more ancient than mine) will be getting gw2. Will play gw1 until they turn off the server then I will quit the computer gaming thing altogether.
MsMassacre
Probably not. It really sounds like most of the things I enjoy about GW will not be in GW2, so it really might as well be any random game. The only thing it will have in common with GW1 is the staff, and I'm not a big fan of anet's management style.
RhanoctJocosa
ill buy it if the koreans buy it D:

Too far away and not enough info. I have too many questions about how they are going to handle a number of things that remain as of yet unanswered. So, its a definite maybe.
I should add, in my case, my PC likely wont handle it. I'm not buying another PC, since I'm a Mac person and hate PCs anyway. I just had the PC around for testing builds and, conveniently, Guild Wars. I doubt Anet will release a Mac version, so I'd have to have an Intel Mac desktop in order to run bootcamp on it and play Guild Wars 2, and I dont foresee getting one for another two years, as my G5 is perfectly fine. If I desperately want to play Guild Wars 2, I suppose I'll find a way at that time, but I also have technical hurdles to cross in addition to learning more about how Anet decides to design it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Might buy it after CoD 4 gets boring, or the new Rainbow 6 game gets boring (highly unlikely). I'll buy it for sure if anet drops the price to 20 bucks (likely to happen) because it's not selling hahhahahha

Most definitely will buy it and all its expansions.
UNLESS they decide to charge a monthly fees for what ever reasons. then I probably won't if that happens.
also please, please, no hidden cost like you have to buy this to be able to do that , in another word make it exactly like GW1, buy the cd and you play for free all region/map/item/weapons/armors etc are free. bleh.

The HoM and whole inheritance waiting for us in GW2 already convinced me to buy it. I sound like such a tool but I'm just being honest. That and Anet is so much better than Blizzard and SoE when it comes to service of nearly any sort... Anet actually listens to us, the community, whilst you find others twiddling their thumbs and releasing bland expansion after bland expansion for their games, instead of doing what they think is best for the community.
However on a side note I am somewhat worried about GW2's leveling system and how the armor/weapons will scale. I'm hoping that it will remain like GW, so as to prevent the whole "I'm better because my weapon is more powerful" complex. If it becomes like WoW or L2 in the sense of power being based around items than I doubt I'll buy. But considering Anet is so bent on keeping things based on personal skill and team play then I doubt there is much to worry about.

I'll not just be buying it, I'm sure I'll have the CE (assuming there is one) pre-ordered.

Buy GW2?
What I've heard about GW2 so far gives me room for pause, and I certainly do not like the direction GW1 is presently evolving (grindcore).
I'd really like to have a look at GW2 myself before making my mind up, and as I'm in europe I wont be able to get in the beta, so it'll be quite some time before I know if I'll buy GW2.

I will have to play some kind of trial before I make a final decision. I love GW as it is, but there are some moves away from the traditional game that I'm not 100% sure I'll enjoy. I'm more than happy to try it out, but I'm not going to rush in and buy the first copy that comes out.

Not really sure if I will buy it in the first days of release, maybe not.
Why I will buy it? Plenty simple answer: NO MONTHLY FEES (and if GW1 is good, GW2 should be better)
N1ghtstalker
depends on what it has to offer
i wanna see what they have prepared for us
if it has those things that made me play GW i'll probably buy it depending on my budget in that time
if not i'll just have to get a job T_T

I'll probably enjoy it anyway, Guild Wars has been well worth the money and I still enjoy the game today!

Ill get it but i dont like how they say there will be a high level cap, i dont like it (mostly) not being instanced, i dont like the races and ill have to see how the servers work (if you can switch servers or not)...and i never wanted to swim/jump/climb so that wont make me want it. But since its one game and no campaigns or monthly fees i will buy it but that doesnt mean ill play it.
Milennin
If it looks like it's going to be good game, yes.
Turtle222
Every person who has replied here saying they won't play GW2 are going to play GW2, one way or another, you'll see.
Depends for me, BETA first, decision second...isn't this game like a year away from being released? (beta summer, release winter?

Oh and HOW MANY does it take for it to be massively multiplayer 24? 40?. If its more than that then LOTRO and wow are not MMO's either. For me anyway if I can play with ANY of the approx one million people who have bought guild wars that massively mulitplayer.

GW was always advertised as a multiplayer OR single player game, and one of the reasons I got it was the fact I could play it myself, without worrying about other players.

Seems they've been pretty bloody sccessful so far, especially considering Guild Wars is NCSofts number 1 European and North American franchise

As long as no level cap has true meaning like making me more powerful than the next person though it doesn't have to be major powerful, but, useful power and phat loot continues to drop (including armor this time around) and doesn't have silly stat caps like 15^50 and has an almost unlimited supply of new upgrades and mods and really good hard dungeons and mission areas and keeps heroes for those of us who continue to want to play solo and doesn't make us have to group with noobs, nubs or nobs or morons or idiots or retards then I will probably buy it. If not, then I'll just wait and get it after it hits bargain bin for being stupid silly the same like GW1 only with a persistant world. Oh and of course no monthly fee.
