I think it's fun, I've got my rat after a couple of easy quests and now I'm enjoying racing, I don't know why people are so angry.

"Pre-nerf" is incorrect. It's pre-buff.

I like it except for the miniature pig mess. That was reckless thinking on ANets part which made a lot of people wealthy from buying pigs for 2k from the uninformed and selling them for 30k.

I chose not to exploit these people and take the moral highground and I have gained nothing from it. Moral of the story: be greedy and rip off people whenever the oppurtunity arises.

- I can't comprehend what you're trying to say here. Nothing has changed in fireworks. If you use them, you get point towards title track. If you don't care about titles, then just ignore them. If you do care about titles, then wtf is your problem? Are you just jealous that other people might have titles that you don't have and now you're compelled to sell your soul to get the next big thing? In that case the problem is within your head, not in the game.

Pretty much agree with this. I, personally have no use for titles in general, though I have become more interested in them recently. I actually like the idea of a new title. I will probably never reach the highest tier (much like wisdom, treasure hunter, drunkard, sweet tooth, etc), but it's nice that it finally racks up a counter for how much 'fun' my character has.

As for the event itself... meh. Just a repeat of last year. These events are fun as hell the first time through, and more of a "going through the motions" each time thereafter. New sparklies don't really make up for the copy+paste of the rest of the event. So it's a rat this year. Yay. Plus, I was really looking forward to an actual rat minipet, not the celestial star-covered crap we got. Not complaining, mind you, just a little let down.

Overall, it's an event, and I am grateful to Anet for this small injection of interest. I'll enjoy it as best I can while it lasts.

Don't mean to sound shallow, but my biggest issue this year is with the lack of a new hat, and of course the pig thing just seems extremely unfair. Maybe the new end of event item will be great, and completely make up for it, but this is the first time I've had little interest in actually attending the event. I will just to see what we get at the end, but if it's bad, and this becomes the new trend, then I don't see myself bothering to come to these anymore.

To be entirely honest I think this is the worst event... Everything just sucks about it. The whole no new hat thing is just lame then the promote the hording of items with the pig thing. I'm over the events at this point.

I'll wait until after the event finale is over to give my opinion - not complain about the event because i couldnt get a certain miniature or because i dont have enough fireworks to go for a title like everyone else seems to be doing.

I haven't got a rat from 200+ fortunes. I did all quests on my 4 characters that have access to shing yea so I guess no rat for me. I guess I'm just unlucky This is my only complaint about the event

EDIT: at least I'll get about 15p from all sparklers, drinks, etc. so I'll be able to (hopefully) buy one...
EDIT2: finally got my rat while opening present with other character...yay

Well I must be unlucky. I've opened around 200 fortunes that I've collected the tokens for across my characters and not a single rat.

Not bothered, must admit this is the first event that I really don't care about. Perhaps it's all the mini pig shenannigins and general burn out.. but I'm completely losing interest. Might as well AFK the finale and see if I can stockpile whatever item is that will drop, after all why bother farming the ingredients till my eyes bleed when I can just leech a present by district hopping and reaping the rewards later right?

pffft.

This event has been and will be all in all rather disappointing.

The failure to fix the things that should have been fixed and the failure to fix things that shouldn't have been fixed (multiple rewards on hitting boxes in rollerbeetle racing opposed to fixing the rubberbanding and lag issue and fixing the ability to create and delete characters in order to farm tokens)

The entire top 100 racing time thing that's going on is just so darn broken.

# The GW-engine just isn't fit for racing games
# The same players that know how to get the highest times will dominate the scoreboard, hence the availability of a mere 20~ prizes
# No clarification whatsoever by ANet on the distrubition and inability to fix top times per account
# The lack of a ladder that should have been established to grant the better players a top position and not just the lucky players
# The lack of a testing arena so people can see where/when to use their skills
# The resigning bug

The promotion of hoarding items is pretty bad also, keeping 5 slots for an Unstackable, virtually worthless miniature wasn't a smart move, so many people got rid of their pigs before they got valueable and worth keeping.

Also the way behind introduction of a Party Animal title track was a bad move, I've used thousands of items before the introduction of it and so have many others.

The AFK-zone that is Nine Rings Monastery isn't very challenging either.
Parking characters for 72 hours in a ring isn't the greatest way to get a title in my opinion.

The lack of rewards and the fact you don't get nearly enough gamer points for a win in Dragon Arena isn't very stimulating to play another Mini-game either.

The repeating Quest-line that everyone has completed around 20 times hasn't changed the tiniest bit and the lack of new elements this event just makes it even less worthwhile.

So far, A summary for this event, Enjoy,

Avalon

That's just summing up the general mistakes this event, didn't I read "I am rich" in your post a couple pages back somewhere?

No wonder you're having a blast making money off of this event.

Good for you though

You make some fair points there, i agree.
Yet the whole Event isn't that bad i think.
But there is something i don't like, it's this new title:

Make the "Party Animal" title track account based and not for each character.
Like you said, how many items haven't you used before this title was intruduced.
Like so many other titles, this is enoying to get if not all your characters can enjoy it. ex: Why should gamer and lucky/unlucky be account based? couse they can only be obtained at a surten time and during events? sounds like limiting the titles to players. Mabye that's the reason, i don't know. Just a observation i made.

Forget gold. Where's the fun? I wouldn't mind it being miniature-centered if it were FUN to get the minis and not a matter of money.

My couple of cents

-Dragon Arena. Love it, as always. Figures something based on player-designed events would be the most fun. A little laggy, but its bearable.

-Beetle Racing. Pointless since some people cheat and the lag makes this very unfun (at least if you got lag in DA, theres still a chance you win)

-Quests. They are always fun. We need miniature Nians. SERIOUSLY.

-Chef Ingredients. This was a pain in the butt to do last year, and wasn't worth it. I didn't bother this year.

-Celestial Rat. Everyone has a chance at one, do the quests, get the blessings, you might get a rat. Didn't get one (yet?), I think its cute.

-Celestial Pig. Only certain people have a chance at it. This annoyed me to hell, but whatever. Screw that shit.

-Nian Mask. I love this thing!

-Explosive Crate. Kinda neat idea. I guess. Indifferent.

The Dragon Arena is the only part of the event that takes more skill than time (i.e. grind), and the players invented dodgeball themselves. Where did my Guild Wars go?

I thought it was pretty fun, as i didn't take part last year due to a holiday.

Sure it could have been better, and the things regarding Beetle Racing need to be fixed(eg getting dishonourable due to resigning, lag ect.)

Overall, ok event but not as good as others.

I missed last years event due to me taking some time away from GW, because of this i have no pig. So yeah, scalded for being a casual gamer. and now i find out that if i had 5 i can trade them for a different pig. scalded again for the same mistake, nice. In short, you can be a casual GWer as long as you dont care about anything.

So i've spent the weekend getting all the ingreadiants for the chefs, only to find out, you dont get the rat this way, you get a box of fireworks. Are you trying to **** me off

I'm remembering why i left now.

On the kinda up side, i got a new hat, on the bad side, its the same poor hat from last year.

Really poor effort and i can see me leaving again, a game that annoys me just isn't worth it. GW is meant to be an enjoyable and fun but its not doing it with events like this.

I think it was brutally raped after GW:N came out and it died when GWEN came out. I mean come on, even in WoW or Ragnarok Online you need A BIT skill to play in events ;o

But actually, I never liked Dragon Arena that much. I once liked Bettles, but only for their sqeeks. They're just so cute... Anyway, I've spent my event in RO and I probably won't join to get 2nd lion hat. Oh, wait, I can get it any time of the year...

I came to the event with very low expectations and ANET did not disappoint. I bought 120k on Festival Tickets and afk on nine rings to increase my chance or retaining lock picks.

After leaving my computer on all night for the nine ring event woke up to find a crate of fireworks - roflmao. That’s it? Considering I had 20 red bags and 1 crate of fireworks means that everyone worked there butt off to get the ingredients for the first meal. Saw what all their hard work was for, got disgusted and did not turn in a single dish. Guess the community will be raging this weekend about the disappointing firework display.

The big surprise could have been something actually useful; one time reward that removes all deaths so that older characters can get legendary survivor, gender changer, etc… all they had to do was read these forms to come up with a bunch of good ideas. Don’t think anyone has suggested a big fireworks display for the guild hall. Well go to the guild hall to clean out my inventory.

Disappointed the mask was the same - mostly because now at every event people will be demanding past years' masks even more than ever before and it was the uniqueness of the mask that made the events worthwhile (although if they were going to duplicate a mask at least they chose a nice one). Also disappointed that Gaile told everyone mask would be available throughout event and not at finale - maybe they could not work that out at last minute but it is just one more example of bad communication.

I don't understand the complaining about the fireworks crates though. They couldn't make them usable in towns as that would cause extreme lag (though maybe they could have made it so you could not use yours same time someone else in town used theirs). And complaining about them not being everlasting? - what would you do with 8 everlasting fire works displays? I think it is a unique, interesting and appropriate prize. I hope to get a few more of them

Had it not been for lack of communication I would have said this was a great event. But poor communication about how many pigs were needed, poor communication about how to get the masks and the decision that you needed 5 pigs for the new one drops this even to slightly above ordinary.

Only thing I'd criticize is the rewards for bringing all the ingredients to the finale event. You get some gift bags and some fireworks crates, basically some party animal points, alcohol, and other misc items from the gift bags. I'm not sure if it's even worth the effort to farm all those ingredients. The mask is the same as last year and you get it no matter what. But I don't mind it being the same one since anyone who missed it can have another chance to get it now.

this whole event sucked, fireworks are not that big a deal, odds for getting a rat are messed up, how does someone open 100 fortunes and get 1-2 rats and someone open 500-1000 fortunes and get no rats, WTF. Anet went cheap this year, and with the release of the BMP in the online store, they are desprate for money as well, I see GW2 as one big fail.
