Do you play for fun? (regarding titles, ursan, pvp, farming)
hurric
This thread is more directed for people who've played the game for at least 8 months or more.
Titles
The benefit you get in PvE Skills is just as good in lvl 9 compared to level 10 but the grind it requires is a lot more. If you enjoy maxing titles, it's all good but after 1.5 years of gameplay I have 0 maxed titles.
my alternative: play every (elite) area in game at least once or try crazy builds rather than fill in HM books (same quests over and over). Where's the fun in that? (but if having a maxed title is fun for you, then it's all good)
Ursan
The whole creativity of making a 8-man team disappears. Play want to play to clear an area as fast as possible to get the maximum reward.
I can understand if the game was new or for newer players who want cash fast but shouldn't people be inclined to do more creative stuff rather than stick to ursan after almost 3 years the game has been out? I personally take my paragon to UW and people call me n00b or paras suck or leave group when i say this is a non-ursan group.
PvP
There's an abundance of R/D Sway. Again this is all good for newer players but higher ranked players are running this.
Farming
this is where the most creativity comes into play and kudos to all people who come up with builds.
The common theme is all this is people want the most reward in shortest period of time even if it involves them grinding (ursan, hm handbooks, etc.)
On the other hand, I really enjoy it when people play something creative like all mesmer team fow or even time challenges in UW/FoW (even with ursan) because that promotes some thinking.
So if you really play for fun, shouldn't we see "MOAR" creative clear of elite areas rather than less. (esp. after enough game play where you'd have more than enough money/armor/etc.)
so do you play for fun?

I try to play for fun. Farming used to be fun before loot scaling. Arenas used to be fun before dishonour. Elite areas used to be fun before Ursan. PVE used to be fun before HM and titles.
I wish I could have the old GW back instead of the current ruined one.

I play to get my mind off of work.
Right now I'm trying to finish prophecies right now with my Nerco so titles don't mean anything to me right now. I think I can only get one or two when I finish the game in normal mode. IF I can get the bonus on Dunes of Depair. (Man I hate that Mission and Bonus) Hell If I get bored I'll help people with missions or go roaming around and see what kind of trouble I can get in.
Its only a game and I use it to relax. Like someone else said "If its not fun, I don't play"

I also "try" to play for fun. But sometimes it just sucks...
Anyway. Right now I'm doing some HM missions and NM dungeons with my warrior. (Yes, NM dungeons...) And with my ranger I'm going for Legendary Survivor. I only use my own build creations, except for the sabway build.
Idon't play very much now due to the fact that I have several characters in NF (worst of the 4 games) My assassin is in Torment, and assassins in torment.. Meh..
Tried DoA Ursan-way, but got kicked cause they though I were a n00b that didn't know how to play in DoA properly (that was my first time ever in DoA)

i've pretty much stopped repetitive farming and just play for fun nowadays. using 6 heros + 1 player had been my new hobby lately.
takes about 2 hours for a clear fow in NM. granted i am only using a party of 7.Much slower then ursans but not mindless 1-2-1-2 spamming.
eventually i'll get the build down and do HM. gives me somthing to look forward to.

Why else would I play?
My only maxed title is guardian, Ursan is fun for a single run with friends, in PvP I use what works, and I never farm.
Different stuff is fun for different people, though. Some people are into the digital slot machine thing with farming, I suppose that's their own problem.

I do play to have fun.
That's why I like to play with h/h because that way I know I have guys in my party who are able to carry my weight.

I try to play for fun whenever I log in. Sadly, I get bored after 10 minutes and go afk.
Racthoh
I do just play for fun, wiping areas that take the least amount of thinking or slowly working on titles if I get bored of that.

In most MMO's its all about the e-peen, and yes I can satisfy that in PvE for some extent. But in all honestly, In PvE for me things are only fun the first time around, then once repetition occurs; it just kills the gamer's mindset of progress. Now what I believe to be the MOST fun thing to do in GW, is creating effective, tactical, and unique builds. This is why I love GW, it is what made PvP so great, it allows you to pour your creativity into subject matter that other people have no clue what to do with. The feeling is similar to RTS's in that sense, two people can be playing the same "race/team" against each other but one will win.
If I want to have roleplaying fun then I'll play a single player RPG like Oblivion, where the actual elements of roleplay exist. Its a damn shame though, Anet did make that push farther than any other MMO as far as the "single player" experience is considered, but I'd much prefer they tried even harder with GW2.

But nothing of the levels of god walking amongst mere mortals.

I play to win. In GW PvE, this means to get to GWAMM. When I get there (only two titles left!), I will uninstall GW1 until GW2 arrives.
I used to play for fun, but I retired from PvP.

I play because of the different playstyles.
Bashing things in with a Sword, Hammer or Axe...
Spreading conditions and turning the enemy into green dust clouds of poison...
Hexing the crap out of things and screwing them up, aswell as interrupts, but Rangers do it better.
The list goes on...

Game N Die
I play for entertainment, yes, to me that's what games are for. I enjoy grinding away for titles, not necessarily the act, but the result, which is that my time has produced an accomplishment.
I like running ursan, yes it is fun, and regardless of what others feel, running ursan with skill can produce much better results than doing it without skill.
I don't PvP.
Farming is another aspect of the game which is similar to titles, in that it is a kind of a delayed gratification act. The fact that you can create/tweak builds to make them more effective makes farming less boring than title-grinding.
Unfortunately, I think that team builds will always lean towards efficiency, and at this point ursan is very efficient. So, right now the fun of a team build is the time aspect of it, not as much the individual builds that make up the team.
I personally think this game is great fun, though, and one of the reasons is because no matter what you consider fun, you're likely to find it in GW.

Smile Like Umean It
I play purely for the fun. When it stops being fun it gets uninstalled. Sometimes I enjoy the challenge/grind of titles and sometimes I don't.
Stolen Souls
Of course I play for fun. If I didn't have fun, there'd be no point for me to play (I always kinda scratch my head, when I visit an outpost, and someone is saying "Mann I'm soooo booooored. Ugh, booored. I'm bored " over and over. If you're bored, stop forcing yourself to play and go do something else, lol).
I work on titles occasionally, but it does get old quickly. So I try to keep the title grinding to small doses. xD
Ursan is lame.
I don't PvP. Don't really know anyone that does, so I was never able to get into it.
I do farm a bit. We all need our gold, right? Like title grinding, I try to keep it to small doses.
Some of the funnest things, imo, are getting with a bunch of friends and going to a dungeon/UW/FoW just for the heck of it.

fun.
the only level 10 (maxed ) title I have on ANY character is sunspear...none of the eye ones (only level 5 for the armor!)....dont think I have even done many of the missions in hard mode (except the noob island ones)....
I used ursan for the quest it was required for and that was that. (dont even think most of my character did the quest to get it either).
pvp--nope, just nope.
titles yeah got a couple only because I want to finish some things---prot and cartography come to mind---and those make me feel like I have completed those chapters (yes I have seen the whole place and killed what I was supposed to kill!) otherwise titles dont really interest me much (yeah I have a monk that wants to get the pretty birdie so he is doing skill hunter)....and I was doing the prot and cartography before they made the titles so ....because it was fun --not because I was going to get something out of it.
so fun it is.

Whatever I do in GW it's always for fun. That includes title grinding and vanquishing. When it's not fun anymore, I'll move on to something else.
Ursan and serious farming are not part of my game.

I play because it's fun. I use my own builds and prefer to play with a few people I know. Or, I like to solo farm. I'm happiest when I don't have to join a PUG, but, even then, occasionally, the group is really excellent and it is satisfying to finish a Dungeon or Mission with a group of strangers.
I often change my focus. Currently, I'm maxing out titles. I have 7 currently.
When GW changes I adapt to the change and go on. I have no problem with nerfing certain builds, etc. Each area of GW is different and has it's own set of issues that need to be worked out.
The only thing I can't stand is how the Elite areas have been taken over by idiot Ursans. I tried it a few times and hated the group I was with. I wish GW would nerf the whole concept and call it a failed experiment. They've had no problem getting rid of certain solo farming builds that I liked. Ironically, even the Ursan build requires a small amount of skill. Most Ursans I've grouped with have no clue as to how to use the skills correctly. I've had friends that I've done missions with say I should do Ursan more because it takes half the time to finish a mission. This is funny to me. Why do I want to race through a mission as fast as I can? If I'm having fun I want it to last. It reminds me of a job that no one likes. They try to finish work as fast as they can and then bolt because they hate the work and the place where they have to work.

I play for fun but i mostly get bored if i do thinks more then twice or once
Titles dont really interest me like i need to achieve some title to move on in the game but its funny to have those protector titles mainly cause you then get the feeling that you completed a certain campain :P

I play for my kinda fun; titles mostly. I'm farming cash for titles, HFFFing or vanquishing... and I enjoy it.
Farming for cash, usually short solo farms I can pick up and drop easily; I have to AFK a lot so I don't generally want to feel like a leecher in areas like DOA. Else, I'll use Ursan simply because it's the fastest for PUGs (because I AM NOT spending 4 hours+ at once with PUGs after I set their bars only to have a retard messing up a run at last quest...), in FoW and DoA mostly.

It's a game, of course I play for fun.

Going for titles is pretty fun for me when I have sufficient time to do them. I try not to pressure myself into thinking anymore that I can vanquish lots of areas under an hour each.
The most fun I have in GW is during the Gamer weekends. That's probably my favorite title to "grind", as the festival games are usually lots of fun and easy for me to win.
The only PvP I do for fun is solo PvP, like FA, or JQ, or RA - basically anywhere where individual effort can be useful in team settings.
I have sometimes done Ursan groups for Norn point farming, but it's somewhat boring, and I wouldn't consider doing it in any serious case. Farming is still fun for me if I can pull it off most times without dying, and I'm making a pretty good profit.

The OP makes it sound as if only the things that he considers fun are fun. I like title chasing. It's fun to me. Whether it is to anyone else or not.
I title chase, I dabble in PvP, I vanquish, I dance in the guild hall, I do elite areas with allies, I go along with guildies on missions or quests, I tell dumb jokes on alliance chat, I read the forums, I complete HM missions... It's all fun. Ursan is fun too -- I usually monk so the times when I get to Ursan seeing yellow numbers is all kinds of fun.

for fun ftw but yeah i do. I don't do titles, I mean I wouldn't mind doing them, but its not my thing. I just play to play. My goal is to try and get each set of elite armor for my primary, well of course the armor that I like
StormDragonZ
I consider the following "fun" when playing GW:
-doing missions
-doing quests
-capping elite skills
-collecting minis
-random killing of enemies for no purpose except collecting drops, selling them to the merchant and earning gold and possible faction points if I'm playing in Factions
-collecting green drops (right now, it's hammers)
Concise Version: I like to actually do something that isn't farming.

Played for fun.
I refuse to play until they fix PvE. Not that they ever will.
And I get to spend more time with my family.

@OP - but that's just your idea of fun. We have 4 mil accounts out there with owners and their idea of fun.
We are all different. That's why we don't all listen to the same music, wear the same clothes and eat the same food.
On Topic -
I did EoTN Asura title for my mesmer and warrior armors. The rest are climbing as I play in that area, but I am not farming points.
I take Ursan but usually never remember to use it.
PvP - don't do it.
Farming for gold - don't do it. I make enough just playing the game with 7 active PvE characters (other 3 are mules).

Eh, these days I've found I actually enjoy the game again, to a degree, mainly be rolling new characters and trying random stuff. Currently working on a warrior, and having more fun than I've had in ages on Gw.
Buster
I always play for fun with hoping there are challenging moments along the way. If something is too easy I find it extremely boring.
Sir Seifus Halbred
Of course i play for fun, i mainly PvP now. I don't care for titles or farming as much as i do to play for fun. Of course i still farm on occassion but i don't play the game just to farm.

i like how Ursan got its own category
Courage!
if i knew i wasnt gonna have fun in the game i wouldnt have bought it would i?

7 heroes would make the game fun again for me, regardless of all the other crap that has ruined GW.
I used to have immense fun in GW before all the changes I mentioned in my earlier post. I loved doing everything in the game, from missions, to farming, to elite areas and the occasional PVP.
Now every major change that Anet made has ruined everything that I once enjoyed when I bought the game.

Mmmm.....Conan....
I play for fun. This means that I'm being drawn to PvP, as the asshat quotient is just too much for me in PvE.
That said, I'll be uninstalling in May. Skipping a few lattes a month is worth it to play Conan. You can see where the money goes with that game.
