Do you play for fun? (regarding titles, ursan, pvp, farming)

I used to play for fun, then realized this game isn't fun, and still play today 3yrs later just to spite the game. In the end I'm sure I have some mental condition that should be looked at, but eh whatever.

I started by playing for fun, which became an overindulgence.
Then I played so I'd never have too little platinum, until I had more than I would ever use.
Lately I don't play (much), I direct my obsessive frivolity towards other pursuits.

Of course I play it for fun.

I don't play that often anymore, just the occasional AB for the giggles. Life got in the way believe it or not.

I play gw for fun :] When it becomes too much a hassle or when I have too many responsibilities (say, if I were in an active guild or something :B), I'd probably lose interest.

I pretty much suck too much to actually play it for the titles and such :B

The game WAS fun, very fun. I think that there was a point where it started stagnating, especially with UB added and some recent skill balances failing to deliver diversity. I think people get attached to guildwars because of the massive amount of time they put into it because it started getting boring, looking towards balances and updates to spice things up for them. I think for long time players, its a battle between keeping interest and time already put it. But I can say it doesn't feel as fun anymore. I think the state of the game has stagnated tremendously. Economic depression, Ursanway taking over, class and title discrimination, were all things there weren't huge issues at the start of the game. But now they really go a long way into derailing interest in the game.

I play for fun. I'm (very) slowly working on titles since I don't have much time for GW due to real life.

I play for fun..... got numerous accounts... main one is leader of a guild and has 26 maxed titles on main character the other account has 15 maxed titles on it's main character.

I have about 30 characters in total all the professions, male and female, all busy doing things.... I love the challenge of doing something again with another profession as have to think different skills etc to do it.

The challenge is the main thing... not to mention I met my fiancee through the game too

GW rocks yay

I haven't been playing as long as many players so I'm still in it for fun.

I have a Warrior who's on an extended stay in pre-Searing because I just found out that he can collect ale so I tried that. I figure he might as well stay a bit longer and visit the other side of the wall to find out what that's all about. But ...

My Ranger needs to figure out a way to kill Shiro. He's also my faction farmer because I want those faction skills to actually do something. My Elementalist is looking for the last few tiny pieces of Cantha to complete his Cartography title. My Necromancer has a knack for getting nice drops when hacking around in hard mode so that's become kind of addictive.

They're almost to the end of Prophecies. They still have places like Sorrow's Furnace to do. They still have quite a way to go in Nightfall.

I still want to try Ursan to see what all the fuss is about since it seems like there are two sides to that story.

I have a Mesmer and Ritualist waiting for attention. My Assassin needs to get to R2 on the Survivor track.

I am far from bored with this game but I have 2 other games in the works that I can switch to when I want.

Welp you just can't beat around the bush when it comes to the truth of the matter. <grin>

People should know by now that the majority of the people in this world play the MOB rule or monkey see monkey do rules of life. If their friend or their friends friend or their friends friend friend is doing it, then they are going to do it as well. Mob rule. It does not one bit of good to complain about it you will only get shunned and booed and called a noob, igmo, idiot, moron and every other derogative most people can think of. It does no good to be educated or scholarly cause the same will just happen to you as well. People are going to mob you and there's nothing you can do about it. So, as the wise ole saying goes if you can't beat them you can either join them or leave them you certainly aren't going to change them.

Same here I too have over 5000 hours and grew bored of it all. Everyones fun is different to a degree, some like to farm, others just like to kill things over n over, others like to chat it up, others like to quarrel, others like to grief others, others like to pvp, others like to think they are elite cause they got some emote, others like to argue online in forums, others like to find the exploits in game, others like to to whatever it takes to get rich or become the most elite title holder in the game, others like to grind, others don't. The list is long and I'm sure I left out many more.

I try to find new fun in the game, but, when I sit back and think about it after completing all the stories and most of the missions/quests I question myself.. what am I doing for fun? Fun for me is the powergamer portion. Thus, I will and still do grind for the PVE only skills as they make me a lot more powerful and of course easy to get into groups since I have them. But, that in itself isn't enough. I want more powerful weapons and Bosses that it takes 12-16 people to kill like in Factions. But, thing is the Bosses got more powerful, but, the weapons and equipment didn't. This is what is missing for me in this game. I want more mods/upgrade items. I want something only very few of us can have like crystalline sword I have, that's nice, but, I'd like to see more than just one thing.

So, everyones fun is just not the same nor ever will be. People say move onto something else and I say why? Why can't I just suggest to Anet like I did all these years to get some grind into the game to also add some new more POWERFUL weapons an equipment into the game as well? Those people that say move on are those that don't like change though. They'd rather see the game remain stagnant and static so they never have to improve themselves materail wise. But, in the real world it's about material as much as it is about skill, you use one (skill) to gain the other (materail wealth). GW is lacking in material wealth a lot.

I could always find something fun in Guild Wars to do -even when all we had was Prophecies. But the fun left when Ursan's Blessing came in.

Trading hundreds of skills in for one skill is the most moronic thing that could happen to any game - let alone in this era. If one actually looked at the complexity of GW ursanway now in comparison to some of the most basic 80's video games GW would come up wanting in both variety and skill.

Yeah, so no fun for me in GW anymore. I'll log in if I read UB has been deleted.

To me, fun is, make a build, test it, go back to town, change skills test them again, and then finally you can kill that freaking end boss in kathandrax with your H/H, while you realise that you die so often is because your armor is not good enough, you buff it, add runes, if you don't have enough gold, you play more in other areas, test more builds, collect gold, buy the runes, goes back to kathandrax, redo the dungeon, on the way you get unexpected rare weapons drops! if maybe a couple of lockpicks and you get to open some chest, add to your title or not, if you get lucky, you kill the boss, it may drop a green or not, and you use the build for other maps, if the map have different kind of monsters, you redo your build, test them until they work again, now that is fun. I am not talking about one build here, 4x my own and 3 for the heros, it also differs if i am playing different profession characters.

i don't think i'll be able to completely "complete" the game the way I play. I do have 3-4 max title thou. the easy ones, protectors and such.

It is fun for some people, just because you don't find it fun doesn't mean everyone else has the same mindset.

for fun! Which is why I like to play a Mes and use skill stealing abilities! Just to f-up the enemy!

Or trying to get Legendary Survivor legitimately (i.e., no faction farming; no Stonefist slugathon -whatever it's called) by playing the game, doing missions and quests and capping skills. I'm on my 3rd re-roll of a Rit because I got sloppy and degen'd to death awfully damn quick while my H&H stood by and watched... damn AI!

Anyway, I have fun creating characters, and coming up with names that inspire me to create one. I'm not in it to prove my skill (LOL), but to exercise my imagination!
