Update - Thursday, May 8, 2008
Horseman Of War
Ill try and be less blunt in the 'official' update thread here
Buyable emote title is not necessarily cool.
Total account Balth Faction should play a role in calculation of title progress.
To PvPers' credit, BUYING the ZKeys (and other tournament reward pts things) should give points toward title.
The Transmo Tonics is epic awesome. I take back saying im 100% dissatisfied because this will add a new element for powertraders, which honestly... is pretty cool.
Im pretty avid about my 3 suggestions here, and I hope anet makes some changes.

Hmm... an emote you can actually buy. I have one word to describe this:
ABSURD

I think my response is simply this:
/shrug
chest running emote? um...yay? nay? Does it affect gameplay? no. Does it affect skills? no. Does it affect weapons? no. Does it affect player dynamics? not really.
Does it give you something to waste time/money on? YES!
anyway....
URSAN IS BAD! >.> Lets nerf ursan.

In my country we have something called "bolsa familia" (family bag), the govern use the taxes to share money to the poors...
I think anet use the same politic with special weekends... and some titles... they give drinks, sweets, and party stuff to everyone in the game, and the the ubber richs, buy this stuff from poors ones for some good money...
With zkeys same thing, poor players go and farm faction, increase the pvp world, change faction, sell zkeys to rich ones, rich ones happy because get a new title and with lucky some good drop... poor ones get some good money...

Poor people are not going to get anything out of this. The title track start to finish is only to the benefit of PvPers who have the keys already, or the means to obtain them. Worse yet, even if you do obtain 50 keys, at 5k each that's only 250k. Not exactly poor, but that's also 250,000 balth faction, and you can probably make more than that doing various PvE farming runs. Hell, you can match that income rate by farming ectos in UW, and it's both easier and more reliable.

Makes me wonder if there's an everlasting Candy Corn Tonic.

And skill balances make the game fun.
@Lyra -- It will probably effect weapon prices, and it also effects people's e-peen being enlarged because of some spear that comes from the sky.

so 5k each would be around 100 million gold?

I so hope GW2 actually comes up with reasons to continue playing the game that dont go down these roads. Character development, more varied weapon stats, deeper exploration and/or PvE gameplay. Titles like the above just make me depressed and dont motivate me to play at ALL.

Lol what an epic fail, ebayers get emotes? Seriously..

Just another indication that GWars has jumped the shark. Maybe not for everyone, but for me, definitely.

I've been suspicious from when they announced GW2 that it will actually be any good, but the more failed design decisions I see in gw1, the more i think gw2 will not live up to our expectations.
Im fully expecting to see fail like
race bonuses
title grind
ursan from day1
..
..
..
Im holding my breath, but Im not getting my hopes up either for gw2

The Zaishen Title Track just turned every conceivable bit of grind in WoW into child's play.
Congrats, ArenaNet - you won. You have invented the most massive time sink I've ever seen.

Keys were hovering between 4.5K and 5K last night...wonder what they are doing today?

easy fix, customize keys
for pvp players trade in blathazar faction
this would hold true to your skill>time thing
for pve players trade in skill points
this would would be better than crafting consets
but it is too late

Anyway, I don't sell my keys not even at 50k each, I don't need gold at all.
Every single title I have was earned by my own gaming, that's the idea of titles, and I feel really good for that.

Balthazar Points should be use only for ONE type of emote at any one time only, NOT, I repeat, NOT gain fame in HA, then proceed to gain Zaishen Point. it should be seperated. either you exchange it for fame or zaishen point.

edit. ok how many pvers dont spend over 50% of their time farming because those that can do. After people spend 20 hrs to beat the game they go and farm and farm and farm. |
That said, you do earn some gold through simple "normal playing" in PvE, I don't know how much compared to the Balth farming though.
In response to all this fuss:
WTB:
One emote for Legendary Guardian
One emote for Legendary Vanquisher
One emote for each rank of KoaBD
One PvE skill for each of the Guardian and Vanquisher titles (I mean, if they are going to make grindable titles, at least do those for achievements that count)

I'm not saying they could tell how many keys were used before this update, just that they don't seem to give a damn about retroactivity even when the information is readily available...

I believe they've forgotten to have Tolkano in the various PvP outpost like the faction reward guy in this recent update.
mafia cyborg
these emotes were developed originally for the gladiator title track.
probably to avoid further pve whining they decided to associate it with z-keys opened.
pathetic really.

I am on holiday for 6 days and ANET came up with this horrible idea...
Why should everybody be able to buy their emotes and then has to press his/her mouse an insane amount of times, which involves zero, absolutly zero, skill? Why? To get rid of all the gold the GW players have? To give pvpers that worked really hard and long for their emotes a huge slap in their face?

Whats funny is most of the people complaining and posting up a storm in here probably are working on or attempting the Z title anyways.
Brianna
I'm not, I'm broke.
I plan to spend the little cash I have left to get the rest of the Ele armors that I want, and I barely make any cash since I don't play a lot, heh.

/vote for balth faction being a factor in this title.

If that's the case, I'm a bit surprised. However, in the case of the keys, I fully understand, and anyone who complains about it not being retroactive needs to sit back understand why it's not.

The faction meters, in addition to tracking how much faction you currently have, also display how much total faction you've earned when you mouse over them. They could have checked your account, saw how much was already spent, and credited you for that. But, do you want ArenaNet to throw in more code which is sure to screw up something for someone?
