Who here buys runes/insignias for their heroes?

Runes on heroes? Nice joke.

No need to put anything on them, it doesn't change the speed at which you win, if you already know how to win the game.

I don't rune my heroes at all, and the weapons they get are /bonus ones, I managed so far so why bother with runes.

All my heros use /bonus for weapons unless a build requires something specific. As for runes/insigs, only on my main toons. All of my Warrior's and Ritualist's heroes are tricked out with the best (except sup vigor)

13 PvE characters, all heroes are runed and have weapons.

Weapons are a combination of /bonus, collector, greens and golds. I don't buy weapons for heroes, they use whatever I have laying around on a mule.

Runes are mostly minors and insignias that I buy.

Every time a character gets a new hero, I immediately run to the rune trader and dig in storage to hook them up right away. Since I spend the majority of my gametime these days with my heroes, it's worth it to me to invest a little bit in them. Not like I have much to buy anyways.

I don't normally, but with me heading for Canthan Vanquisher I recently bought a few vitae and survivor mods for a couple of my heroes. i also pimped out my minion bomber's staff:

Everyone is all runed up. It's one of the few places in the game where you can buy a gain in stats, and stats come before shiny armors and stuff.

I purchased insignias and 1 rune for Razah when I first got him to try out a new build. I bought 1 Superior Death rune for Olias on my Mesmer.

All the other runes/insignias have come from drops I find. Only a handful of my characters have runes/insignias left to add to a hero.

None of my heroes have Superior Vigor. I use Minor or Major (depending on what I was fortunate enough to find). If I find a Superior Vigor, I either use if on one of my characters (if I have gotten new armor) or sell it.

Weapons are the same. Many have greens, rest of golds or purples. Most of my heroes have better weapons and armor than the average player. It just takes time to acquire the stuff, not money.

Out of all of my heroes, only my Monk's Ogden has a Sup Prot, Sup Smit, Maj Divine to smite for her ..

Rest = no runes, no insignias. I don't find them necessary for success when H/H ing.

I had spare Sup Vigors, so they go on my 3 necros that are fully runed/getting gully runed as I get drops. Other heros I use sometimes get major vigors and insignia as they drop for me.
Farmed over 20 woe spreaders a long time ago so they go on my death necros and most other used ones have greens I have spare - the others will get BMP weapons if I ever get around to them.
I have bought the odd rune (such as a sup death) but never insignia, just rely on drops.

A couple of chars on my account with heros are all runed up just to store the runes on there in case I need them.

I try and mod Heroes as I can afford it, my main characters heroes have all fully modded armour and decent weapons.

I buy attribute runes for the heroes i use and then put whatever insignias/heatlh or mana runes i find on them.

I also use whatever i find weapon/mod wise for their weapons.

But they certainly don't lack and ive come off cheap to gear em too. Found a kepkhets for my prot hero and used an EOTN end game fire staff for vekk.

Very true. You DON'T need anything on yourself to win the game, because if you think about it, if you run certain builds there is almost a built in no-fail mechanism, as the builds have enough offense and defense with rune-less attributes. I am quite confident that someone could finish Legendary Guardian and Vanquisher without using a single rune or insignia on themselves or their heroes.


And yes, I solo everything in PvE with Frenzy and Lion's Comfort. And a screenie of you for inspiration <3

In general, if I get a rune or insignia that I can use on a hero, I'll put it on the hero. The only one I ever actually bought for a hero was the mm insignia that made them cast 25% faster mm spells. That's it.

Only what I identify and salvage myself. I don't ever go out of my way to pimp my heroes. I have a hard enough time saving money for things I want for my own characters.

I didn't at first, but gradually started putting them on my primary character's heroes (the ones I use, anyway) as the appropriate things dropped. I haven't bought anything as expensive as a Superior Vigor (not necessary, in my opinion), but I have bought things appropriate to the hero builds I'm running, like a Superior Death Magic rune for my MM, with other runes and insignias to balance it out. My other favorite tactic is going around to characters I've stopped playing to see what I can gather off their corpses. Runes have gotten incredibly cheap and require no effort to acquire (unlike other things in the game that require boss farming, material-gathering, chest-running and the like). With that in mind I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to maximize the effectiveness of their heroes' builds. The weapons I give them aren't *super awesome mega power* though. They get /bonus items until I come across a suitable green or a nice but unsellable gold.

I've only gotten things when my heroes have really needed it (think MM with sup death rune). I typically don't buy or check my stash of runes in storage and I always end up buying new ones. I guess I should since those runes have to go one way or another. I typically give my heroes collector weapons or whatever they come with. I might occassionally give them some decent weapons, but rarely.

I am too cheap for a superior vigor rune on errr 9 x (3 to 10) heros. Only major vigors for them. Greens and other runes are cheap
