my old guild name was banned. but they cant kick you out of a guild. what happens is a guild name that gets banned loses the invite/guest options. but the current members can still play pvp/pve. so if you have enough people in the guild already, they can still continue to hold halls on a banned name.

I was not banned, but I had a name denied because it meant something in a foreign language. My step-grandfather, Irish by descent and a minister, was called Poppy but with a slightly different spelling. This had nothing to do with the slang use of it in a foreign language which no one here speaks. Anotehr friend could not name their pet warthog "Anklebiter" or any varried spelling thereof. Yet it was denied. This reminds me of the Vietnamese kid whose name was considered too offensive to be stated at his graduation, but means "Blessed of the Buddha".
The real immaturity is in those who are offended. They lack correct judgement and then punish others for their immaturity. The name taken by the OP was never offensives. It is an accurate statement of fact. I garden and I do not use my hoe for painting the house. Anyone who finds offense at correct and right things is less mature and more gutterally minded than those who are honest and blatant with bad language. The person they are trying to hide from afterall, is themselves, and forcing us to do it for them.

I know that some players deliberately go out to see what they can get away with in a character name. but for the honest ones, in my tennis e-mail with Anet, once I hit them with two e-mails about how unprofessional it is of them, to just go ahead an ban people(customer who pay for their mechandise) without warning or giving the player the chance to rename the offending chars first. you get no reply back from them at all lmao

Also, given a faux "Asian" name of "Sum Yung Guy" used as a joke I've heard before, I think the Sum Yung part can be seen as mocking East Asian names (though Sum is not a surname as far as I can tell)... however I can just as easily see it as a decision just to spell "Some Young" differently. Of course, keep in mind this can go both ways. I had a student in China who was a bit of a class clown, naming himself George and referring to himself as George W. Bush. A teacher got tired of it and forced him to change his English name to Ben, which is the romanization of the Chinese word for foolish or stupid.
Still, seeing that I have a monk whose name is a variation of "Naughty Nurses," I don't know how much I can cast judgment without feeling like a hypocrite there.

I flew under the ban radar for 11 months, long enough to get LDoA and make it to EOTN, when I refused to heal for a Norn point group the person that asked me reported me for my name. This creates a dilemma, ANY name can be considered offensive and get you reported, just because you piss someone off they can report you for your name. I could say /report John Doe and say that a man named John Doe murdered my family so I'm offended.

This is the #1 thing i detest about society today. It seems people dont have anything else to do other than get offended over stupid stuff, not minding their own damn business, or just simply "shit in other peoples cereal".

See, the thing I detest about society today is that people feel they have the right to be jackasses, can get away with it without fear of any repercussion, and cannot take responsibility for their own actions. I'll say that I'm not offended at all by peoples' names. I can see the offensive nature though and that's what causes me to report, because when people are allowed to run rampant with their racist/offensive names, it tells them that society allows them to be an ignorant waste of life.
Grow up, choose a character name that isn't just some immature attempt at drawing more than your fair share of attention, and move on.

I myself am far from "wasting my life" as you so aptly put. Im just as successful as i want to be, i have a family that i provide for and i LOVE offensive humor. Bottom line is, Im happy with who i am and have no regrets about what i find is funny.
Unfortunately i have to be weary of people like you who will take any opportunity to pose judgment or consequence upon another individual just to satisfy their want for having some kind of power over another. Because when it boils down to it, that's all it is.
