Solo Shadowform Sin - Chaos Plains NM Farm
kicks66
Theres already been guides written for both the consta shadowform sin and for chaos plains, but I thought i'd put this one together for anyone who's just started. Any questions feel free to PM me 'Suprise From Behind'.
The Build
Ok, the basic build is as follows:
[build=OwZToY/85R6zj0ZIDcRw4WMBBA]
Equipment wise, youll want full radiants and full attunes, and a super shadow arts on a shadow arts mask.
You'll want to be using a +5energy/+20% enchant sword, spear or axe with a 20/20 fire off hand.
Id also advise taking a bow for luring, and another use ill describe later.
If you're just starting, a +20e staff is good for emergencies.
The Farm
The Run
The main focus of this farm is the Mindblade Spectres found in the Chaos Plains. To get there, however, you're gonna have to do some other stuff.
When you first spawn, youll want to immediately cast Deadly Paradox, Glyph of Swiftness and then Shadowform. Now head towards the Lost Soul, and take his quest. As soon as you take the quest, head back towards the start point. Youll notice the grasps have spawned. Head left up the steps, keeping to one side. Once you get within aggro, hit dash and reach the top of the stairs, preventing yourself from getting trapped in. Now head round the chamber, picking up the two other mobs of grasps and making sure not to get caught. Also, make sure you keep Shadowform up for the whole time.
After youve aggroed them all, bring them to point A. Now, you should proceed and kill them. It will take 3 uses of each of the 2 damage spells to kill them at 12 fire. However, after you have used your 5th spell, they wil often e-drain you with 'Fear Me'. To counter this, after you're 4th damage spell, wait for recharge. Recast Shadowform, then Glyph of lesser energy. Now switch to your bow, cast Phoenix and Inferno (5th and 6th spells). You can now switch back to your main weapon set and have around 25 energy.
Follow the map above to reach the entrance of twin serpent mountains. Here, you'll want to wait till the Charged Blacknesses come down the hill. When they start heading back up the hill, and get to point A on the minimap, youll want to start moving in and following the path upwards. You want to stay out of the traps, either by avoiding them totally or by using dash whilst running over them. During the whole run, remember to keep SF up and recharged. When you reach the point shown in the screenshot, take the marked path. Watch out for the Charged Blacknesses on your right. Head left at the end, down the path and stay left. You will now head up the hill. Notice there are some Charged Blacknesses just passing at the top, wait for them to leave your minimap, then continue and turn right. You're now free to run forwards, then left and into the Chaos Plains.
Chaos Plains
The map below shows the spawns of each Rider, as well as the Spectres that spawn afterwards. Ive marked on the map the order in which you should aggro the riders. These aggros can be quite difficult, sometimes requiring several reaggros of each mob. A longbow is recommended here. Remember during these aggroes to keep recasting Shadowform (and not cast it whilst your bow is equipped). Youll want to aggro the Riders so they are all bunched up together by moving to one of the sides, causing them to converge. After you have killed them, their corresponding Spectres will spawn, aggro them and kill them. Continue this for the 3 waves, then move to the next Rider group.
Some tips to use when aggroing. After SF has just been renewed, or is far from needing to be renewed, if you cast Glyph of Lesser Energy about 3-4 seconds after aggro, then fire attune, you will have just enough time to cast again after they have all surrounded you. This allows you to use Glyph of Lesser Energy quite often. Also, when possible, use Glyph of Lesser Energy on Phoenix instead of Inferno, for the greater energy efficiency. It is not recommended to kill the Terrowebs at the end of the run, due to the time it takes to kill them as well as their inability to bunch up properly.
Using this build and the aggroes above, you should be able to achieve a regular 26 min run. It is possible to reach a 23 min run if the aggros are lucky (they dont run too much).
Cheers

good job on build+guide ill try it when i get to level 20.
How many points into air magic?
How many points into air magic?
Abedeus
0 is fine, as you need it only for one spell.
Btw, nice guide, but IMO you could only write about how to evade Charged Blacknesses... In other thread there was already a quite complex guide to A/Me, almost same as A/E.

How many points into air magic? 0, you only need it to recharge Shadowform (which will occur at 0-3 air magic)

are you killing all the aataxe's on the way also? I noticed this is never noted in the guide but you must be running into them.

no you are not, you just simply kill the graspings in front of aatxe's face and then laugh at them as you slowly strode away.
great idea pulling with long bow, i do not know why that hasn't occured to me before you mentioned it... i'm going to try your way of pulling =P

Flame Djins Haste> Dash for Moar DMG, and therefor faster run. And you can do this a bit faster if you pull more, ( 16 mins)
anyway nice job on the guide

anyway nice job on the guide Two problems with this
Firstly, dash is used for going over traps, as you wont take damage when going over traps.
Also, with the current setup you're already generally energy limited, adding Djinns wont speed up the run much due to lack of energy.

HEY!! Jo of course forgot to mention Lil Mickey in her little build, but yeah, 27 minutes for 3-10 ectos. I instead use a build with Mark of Rogdort, Glowing Gaze, Inferno, and Dash, more reliable, more energy efficient, same speed, same ectos.
GreatBabai
Can someone, please, post a zoomed in minimap that shows exact route to chaos plains? I always manage to take some wrong turn and got killed
tuna-fish_sushi

anyway nice job on the guide I don't see how you can possibly kill everything in 16 mins. Show us.

I use roughly the same build ([Lava font] + [Mark of Rodgort] for damage). works good for me. did a 30 min run today (full chaos planes clear)
niek2004
I'm not that limited with energy, and yes you can pass traps with flame djins but ocasionally i get hit by 1 or 2 traps.
i aggrod blacknesses here which costed me time and i messed up the balling of dreamriders at the statue. Tomorrow ill do another run and try to get it faster.

AMAZING amazing , assassins are kinda overpowered nowdays (in pve) and farming with them is so amazing too, like in uw u grab all those overpowered monsters on ur back gj with the guide gonna test it right now and c if i could rly farm all those ectos
[AmoK]Syno
first tyvm for the guide ... but i have some problems rushing to the chaos plains. Nearly every run i the obsidian behemoth are located very bad so i cant rush trough them with dash. i really dont get it. any counters?
Smokestajdh
How are you guys getting 3-10 ectos :S . im getting 2 ectos per run :/
lord of all tyria
Ecto drops even out over time, I've had anywhere between 1 and 9 ectos per run.
niek2004
from time to time obsidian behemoths block youre path, you can try to find another way but sometimes all you can do is /resign.
[AmoK]Syno
works fine now ... just had bad luck the first runs ... but i dont get how to do this run in 25min or less ... i need ~35min and i have no idea where i loose 10min ... i always pull 3 dream riders groups if possible ^^

aggro all grasps in the start, spam youre fire nuke skills excessive. Watch out for the fear me spike when grasps reach 30% ish hp.
aggro 4 dreamriders first, then 3 and then the last 2, make them ball up quickly, thats where you will lose the most time.

i don't know how you spam your nukes, but i can't really do it @ 56 energy. Starting with full energy its [Shadow Form] up, [fire attunement] [GoLE] [Phoenix] [inferno] x 2 then wait for [GoLE] to recharge so i can continue with the above chain. Anything else just gives me energy problems in the long run. Takes me 30 mins.
Paul thy god
Just Wondering can someone please take a screenie of their mini map after they reach the chaos plains? because i always take a wrong turn and get WTFPWND.
Edit: nevermind i found my way like a lost dog, to proceed to get 5 ectos and a white dye.

Alot more clever to do Gole before fire attunement, get more energy back that way.

Ive started to use [Flame Djinn's Haste] instead of [Dash], you can get over traps almost as often as with dash, and the damage/speed boost is rather nice. Had plenty of 20 min runs with poor aggros and stuff.
And just to say, my best run ecto wise was 9 ectos in one run

An alliance member just smashed my record, and hit 12 ecto and 2 passage scrolls last night.

rofl @ MrSlayer. If i were you i wouldn't let him get away with it
Edit: looks like practice makes perfect. 25 min runs. time to try [Flame Djinns Haste] instead of [dash]

It varies. I went solo one run and got 7 ectos just from killing roaming Aatxes and Dryders and doing Unwelcome Guests and Escort the Souls. Then a guildie and I went in another time and went straight to the Chaos Plains and cleared that and the Bone Pits, and not one ecto dropped for either of us. Your mileage definitely varies...
Trader of Secrets
SF has got to be a broken skill now. Sure looks/sounds more effective than the ele build for plains clearing. I wonder if a bunch of these sins running around in UW can actually clear it.
Bug John
cleared bone pits with this build too, but it's totally not time/ectos efficient
you can easily bunch the first driders perfectly using the left corner of the gate to pools, one minute for 8 more chances to drop ectos, sounds fair to me
PS : got 11 ectos clearing plains + driders + pits
