Some scammer was selling conests in GoA AD1 last nite for 7k. A few of my guidlies and myself went to him and opened trade offering 7k. Every time that person would offer nothing (an empty trade window) in return and just click accept. I bet some ppl fall for this as they are in a rush to get their consets so they can start their runs. Beware the consets scammers!!

Frantic, you should have dropped a bone or something. He'll then probably say that your a scammer.

It would seem that the developers of Guild Wars - the programming experts they are - could find a way to make SF'ing and Ebon-Escaping for the purpose of stealing not work.
Or perhaps there could be a time delay of x number of seconds before an item dropped can be collected by someone else? Say the item must be on the ground for 5 - 8 seconds before it can be picked up by any other than the droppER, it would give a potential buyer enough time to look at it, decide if they want it, but not steal it. Then it would be on the droppER to pick it back up and resume trade talks.
I can feel the heat from the impending flames, but this is not just a naive trader responsibility. aNet has the responsibility to fix anything it can to make the playing experience more enjoyable, and to eliminate any discrepancy which creates an unfair advantage for one or all players, am I right?

There is a word called trust that some people actually believe in. I wouldn't call a person who trusts stupid or whatever, just naive to the people they may run into in game. It then becomes "Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me."

I mapped back before he ask me to drop the item. (I totally should've brought Ebon Escape and pick up one or 2 of his items) |

Why? If you are both outside, and you map back, the scammer will just be left alone in the instance. He/she won't be pulled back to town with you. They can just pick up their stuff and go after you've bailed.
That would be funny if it worked that way though

I run into new players just about every time I log on.
Thats why it will never end.
The expectation that every GW player is a seasoned veteran makes me lol.

Wish i had thought to bring Ebon Escape myself at the time. But, i've never used the skill and probably couldn't have pulled it off correctly.
He pinged a "safe" bar of course. I thought it was impossible to ping anything but your equipped skills while in an explorable. Anyways I knew better than to trust the ping.
This happened about a month ago. I sent the screenshots to support and he was banned 2 days later. Perfect, 1 less thief roaming the streets of Kamadan.
Bowstring Badass
Sad to say this but if your dumb enough to drop an item then gg... Anyway lol@ ravens post.

Well, like there is one born every second. Sometimes people just trust other people. Too bad, there are too many untrustworthy players out there.

i don't mind "scammers" :/ (the kind ppl are talking about in this thread)
they play the game by the rules in a way that benefits them.
i'm pretty sure that's the point.
ppl who use 1337 h4x to profit are a different story

You accidently 'what' your dog?
Warriorsrmint
Its a mixture of stupidity and greed, if someone offers to buy something for alot more than its worth you will do whatever you can to secure that double profit, shame is instead of getting 200% of the worth you get 0%.

If someone gets scammed, then that's their tough luck. They may be the victim of their own immaturity and lack of knowledge, may not understand the mechanics of the game, or the purpose of the trade window.
The most sensible people in the world can be victims of a scam. Whole populations can be scammed by their governments, so to see individuals being scammed all the time is something that happens.
I have the ultimate solution. Use the trade window to trade, and do not trade with people who say theirs isn't working. Tell them to get it fixed. If you don't Anet will bring a doctor to your house to administer chemical castration.

All suggestions involving coding is asking A-Net to fix a social problem. I recommend we just teach new players about the game.
