presents not droping this year instead it a auto inventory

Good move Anet. This promotes fair play, I can only be positive about that.
The rings are designed to allow afk. Other players' presents are not yours to begin with.

it also looks like if you come late or change districts in the middle of the mini game that you get half the presents.
i had 2 accounts in 1 dist and a 3rd in another. one dist had a much better score (grasps only had 3 points halfway through) so i switched the other 2 over.
atm, the account that was there the entire time has 26 and the other 2 have 13

14 this time, if anyone is taking notes!

Yay a reward for AFKERS!

This sucks because now I get 7-10 presents per appearance instead of 75+ per appearance. However, getting 75+ requires more time and diligence of being at the keyboard, so it's good in that regard.
They should have recorded how much presents players got per appearance at the previous events, and then programmed in the average number to be the number of presents that those players got automatically in their inventory for every appearance in this event.

On the subject of present numbers, I've been getting 12-13 regardless of whether I participate or switch districts.
I scored 25 in one of the games, in a district that ended with something like 350vs100, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

I went out for pizza. 26 presents when I came back. KA'CHING!
Looks like it's afking night for me for presents.

I have to say I like it. Less lag from all the unclaimed presents, and you probably end up getting more since you can get them afk too.

I get 12 or 13 presents each round. I don't mind having them pop directly into my inventory and I have no issues with afkers getting 'their' gifts. I guess I'm not as greedy as some? True, I will pick up the random unassigned gift just the same as anyone else, but I don't go out of my way to screw someone over. I like the new system since it seems more fair in a sense. For some players that don't have unlimited internet, they are using their limited time to afk while they sleep and are no less deserving of the gifts (or deaths) the festival hands out. Personally, this seems like just more whining to me.

I was there for the first one at 2am pst....got 13 and participated heavily in the game----went to bed when I found out that the gifts appear in my inventory....wellllll just woke up a little bit ago and checked my monks inventory.....I missed 4 rounds of the finale...got 52 gifts so thats 13 each time
I am happy with it since I have been ill...it was nice to not have to watch my computer every 2 hours and get some sleep instead.
thanks anet! (and now I will leave my monk there for the next few as well...no need to change what is working

I personally welcome this, cause now I can afk and not worry abt presents.. although last year, seeing ppl become a ninja near you is also hilarious.. when you move, they pretend to afk and didnt take your prizes xD
Anyway, thanks anet!

ok well it seems it works this way it dont matter how much you win by or how much you score
works as follows the moment prsents start coming person 1 throu8gh say 10 geta present 3 seconds last 11 through20 and so on nce every oneg ot a prsent it start the loop over til the emp leaves so 14 is the max you can get 13 being the least so far
in my aliance i took pools so far and that seems to be the way it works

No doubt about it, something odd about present drops.
Two toons, District 6. One participated in charges, other did not. District won. The one that did got 26, the other 13.
Idled both characters for four events. The one that had previously played had 102 in the inventory, the other had 51 (25.5 and 12.75 prizes per idle event respectively)
Moved the one who got less to District 18 and played the game. The other is still idle. Even after running 14 charges (less than what my other toon ran the first go-around) he is still at 13 while the other laggard is at 26.
Both are from 3+ year old accounts, however the one with less only has Proph and Factions while the other with more presents has all four campaigns.

only got 12 this time.....also had a very friendly grasp haunting me so I couldnt even get near a charge!

I personally like it quite a bit.
It allows you to just hangout and have fun with your friends, instead of having to run around and pick up gifts. And far, far, FAR better then the original way where you had to scramble around and try to get your share.
And vultures be darned, I think it's funny they can't go pick up the AFKer's gifts.

beanerman_99
I like it cause I am AFK on the rings. though to appease those who are actually taking part in the event I think there should also be random presents dropped so they can race around a pick up a few extra presents. Best of both worlds then
Ate of DK
I've been swimming today and watched a movie. Been AFK on the rings all the time and just found 78 presents in my inventory. Think I'll stay AFK a bit longer.
Don Doggy
I think auto inventory is a great feature as it is fair to all players and many will be afk working on lucky/unlucky titles.

I've gotten 13 each time, but I REALLY miss the "drop-on-the-ground" system.
That was great fun

good job Anet, I like the auto invatory system better.

I like the system used for this festival. Players can AFK, party with friends, or do whatever they want and still get gifts.
Several players in the district I’m in were ticked when they found out that they weren’t going to be able to steal gifts like before. Their outrage was truly amazing.
I think it’s been cool to see how players have worked together and developed a system to beat the Grasps and win each time so far.
So yeah, good job A-net you’ve promoted teamwork! Plus you’ve recognized that a lot of players want to work on event related titles, however they may need to go AFK to sleep or deal with Real Life.
For what it’s worth, a friend and I have been in the same district since the gifting started. We get 13 to 14 gifts per session aside from any extras gained from running charges.
We're having fun ... w00t!

i see it as a good and bad thing with the auto assigning. I know many people who were grumpy because they didnt want the mask and lost their 250 tokens to the event. And I did really enjoy present camping in years gone by, but I know this game is for people to enjoy of all pc and connection standards and they wouldnt ahve a chance against people with better machines and internet connections so I can see it being much more fair this way.

Afk Ftw!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woot!
DragonRogue
Well a poll of my guild and alliance....the majority got 13 gifts per district drop. However many have recieved 26-28 per district drop. Doesnt seem to matter whether they were afk on rings or in towns, or whether they participated in the celestial running or not. The gift drop rate has been different even with toons in the same district at the same time. So grats to those fortunate enough to have been in the glitch.

This is a GREAT change. And I really do mean GREAT. <3 Anet.
For all those saying afkers should get nothing - then think about this.
Australia is +10 GMT on our east coast. The first finale event was 7pm GMT on Sunday. The last is 5pm GMT on Monday. Putting one and one together you should notice that the majority of the finale events occur in the middle of the night, or during the working day. In short, Australians are screwed almost every time there is an event because we can't physically be online during most of the events. The first one for me is around dinner time (doh) the second is around bed time (*sigh*) and the final occurs before I get home from work. How is this fair?
Thank you Anet for finally doing something that doesn't out and out disavantage people for living in a part of the world that isn't the US.

so I stayed in dist 6 for yet another go and got 25 this time.....not sure what I did differently---the character that is getting the extras is a canthan ranger while the other was a tyrian monk---and he ran the orbs, she (ranger) is just sitting.....

My present drops have ranged between 15 or so to 26. Another great bonus is I probably won't need to do any quests to get 250 Victory Tokens - as I've gotten 178 just from opening presents while AFKing in 9 rings. Also the present drops have funded my 9 ring participation, the 50K that I initially spent ran out hours ago. I just sell the red bean cakes and rice wine and can buy enough tickets for hours of play.

A terrible NERF happened.
Again.
How sucky.
They removed all the fun, destroyed the most fun part of the whole event with the nerf at 2007 Redux festival, now with the second nerf they also greatly reduced the number of presents possible to get.
It's now always ~13 no matter if the player is AFK all the time or actively participating and running 40++ of those Celestial Charges, before it was possible to get 40-120+ every 2 hours.
Now the event isn't worth coming to, it's only worth it if you're AFK doing something else!
So the Anet's policy is AFK >>> FUN because AFK = no lags?
Pathetic.

Freebies are good but NERFS are baaaaaad.
Active fun gameplay and getting 1000-1500 presents is far better than 156 for afking.
Nightow
less lag = more fun doing stuff like dungeons or quests.
That's a plus in my book. Hope they do it for wintersday too.

For me it's not a nerf, it's a bonus. Before to get as many presents as I am now I had to make sure I was in the festival town at the correct time and collect my presents as they dropped. I don't have enough time to make sure I'm online to actively collect my presents more than a few times per festival, so this way I can just log in - go afk and collect my presents. I've collected much more this way than I would have the old way.
I'm sure that the old way was much better for people that had tons of free time, but I definitely like this way better.

I like this way much better because unlike the people complaining that have absolutely no job or life other than guild wars, I DO have a job to go to, a kid to take care of, house chores to do, and basically, a REAL LIFE. So, in result, I would normally miss out on all of the festival events except MAYBE one if I was lucky. This way, all i have to do is check in every once in awhile to make sure I'm still online and I can go back to my much more important son and chores and real life. It's still fun to participate in the event when i can, but with a baby that just learned to army crawl across the floor, I really can't be on the the computer for more than literally like 10 seconds at a time cause he's that quick that if I spend any longer he tears something apart or would have something fall down on him if I didn't watch him and go stop it from happening. I like this way MUCH better because it's still rewarding for those of that try to participate but just can't do it without having to get up to save our kids from a danger as simple as the floor fan... lol.
