I like the auto-inventory thing this year, but I really miss the mad free-for-all gift grabbing. It would be nice if, in addition to automatically getting presents in inventory, some would drop on the ground for people to scramble over. It used to be that the NPCs would get their share of presents too, which players could compete over. Presumably, that makes the overall gift tally this year less than previous years.
It also used to be a lot easier to zone to higher districts to get events still in progress, but they seem to be synched up a lot better now.
presents not droping this year instead it a auto inventory

Well, the festival is a present from Anet to the players. It is not a part of the game and has nothing to do with DoA. It is a thank you from Anet for buying the game and playing. It is a special event intended for everyone not just the few who can be there the most. Therefore, Anet can give out presents any way they want, and actually they don't have to run any of the festivals at all. The new way is means of thanking all the players. I know the people who are crying the loudest are the ones who profited the most from AFkers not picking up their gifts. If you went to all the finalies you would have gotten about 156 presents why do you feel intitled to someone elses.

only the greedy would care
i got 30 tokens playing the game, that's a few items... if no one else played you got more
if not stealing presents is all it takes to make you whine like a emo you should quit

If only it could be done this way without the little greedy people getting pissy about spawns! The ONLY encounter I had with an unplesant person during the whole event was one guy who kept telling people to "Get the ____ away from here. This is MY spawn point!" and proceeded to curse out anyone who picked up an orb from "his" spot. The reason he gave for acting like a child? Because he thought he could get more presents by running more orbs! Unfortunately, giving more presents to those who ran orbs would just cause the vultures to act more like that guy. (shifting vulturism from dropped presents to dropped orbs) IMHO, The fact that the event was enjoyed more than past events by most is largely due to the relative lack of that kind of behavior. |
But what I said is that the more poeple cooperate in the party, the more presents everyone gets, not just the ones giving the presents.
That way, if a District has 50 people, a district with 10 afk and the rest partying would get more than one with 40 AFKs.
I just kept mashing SPACE by a spawn spot I saw quick to recharge. People got tired of wasting time since I was getting all of them and went to other spots, XD.

Then, they can still do the competition, running the celestial orbs, for those who enjoy that. And that has its own reward of 1 extra token/orb run, which can be turned in for a prize. So, again, there is more incentive to actively be involved.
