What of the Tengu we've seen in Kryta and the Southern Shiverpeaks (different variantion of course)? I can't remember exactly what becomes of them, but it's possible that splinter groups become non-hostile in that period, thereby making them a viable playable race.
Any thoughts?

Um, yeah, a few. Firstly, I'm not convinced the Charr are non-hostile in GW2 either, and they're a playable race. There will probably have to be a fair bit of storyline plot-device wrangling to explain what on earth Charr would be doing in the same party as humans, which will be interesting considering their mutual hatred (which I assume is undimmed to this day). So it's not much of a stretch; that and when you consider the Angchu/Sensali split on how to deal with humans, it's also not much of a stretch that you could find some Tengu that don't hate humans.
The other races are a slightly different story; they never had anything to do with Charr from what I can tell, although I have my doubts they'd get on too well. I don't think they'd mind the Sylvari, though I suspect the lack of respect the Asura show for them (not that the Asura respect
anyone) wouldn't go down well. As for the Norn? Well, the Norn never really paid attention to things like territory, and they just moved into the same region as the Avicara. Yep, I think I smell a fight there. But I digress.
I ... uh ... would also like to note that it isn't clear what happened in Cantha following the ascension of Usoku. The articles we've seen merely indicate that the Canthan empire drove out all non-humans, not exactly what happened when they tried that. We know the Tengu do not like being pushed around, but there isn't a chance they could have repulsed an army of such great strength when they didn't exactly kick the Canthan's asses prior to the Factions campaign. And it sounds like they weakened since.
Would that mean they would get wiped out? Not necessarily. They'd be beaten, yes, but the more pragmatic Angchu may have eventually swallowed their pride and fled (probably for Tyria). The Sensali would almost certainly have fought to the bitter end. On the other hand, some people have suggested (and it seems realistic enough) that there may still be remnants of one or both tribes in hiding somewhere - and quite possibly the same for the Naga.
