I hope this is added, and then made optional. Whilst you're standing there admiring your killing move in slow motion, I will walk over and chop off your head.

The only way this could be implemented would be for everyone in the instance to experience slow motion at the same time, something which I would find horrifically annoying.

level cap and instances

I'm fine with a low level cap and while the current set up with instances is nice, it still cuts down on the meeting of friends. Usually in other games my best friends are ones I met in a map/zone somewhere and they either saved my bacon or vice versa... I miss that part of it.

Concept art of male Elementalists/Mesmers shows some old dude with a long beard.

The thing I missed was the mana and health potions, like in Diablo 2. Really had no idea how to heal myself after I got pummeled by 3 river skales.

AFAI can remember the chests were added later, and then some time later, due to chinese chest-bots, they were locked and keys added... Then again maybe I'm misremembering, because I also remember those barrels in pre.

However I realize I really meant NON-random loot, ie that there'd be, say, caves where a boss was guarding a treasure chest, which you'd open as a reward for killing the baddie. Much like how it is in pretty much every single-player RPG and in the EOTN dungeons now.

I was surprised when I learned that it actually mattered where I got hit on my body (for armor purposes). I remember the first armor I crafted; I did the boots and the gloves first and salvaged my shirt to make pants. Then I ran around bare-chested for a while, wondering why I was often taking more damage than before...

I'm glad there there are no elves and their won't be (although Sylvari are similar they are also unique). As for Dwarves, I also like the fact that after fighting the Great Destroyer, the Dwarven Race is nearly extinct. I also love Guild Wars unique race...the Charr.

As for things I was shocked about:

Although GWs was my 1st MMO, I was dissapointed you couldn't jump (as stated above), and when I started in Proph I was dissapointed that the only race you can play as is humans. I got over that though as I progressed through the story.

As strange as it may sound, I thought there were going to be big epic battles like in + 100 players of one guild vs + 100 players of another guild. Some sort of raids, but more like a medieval battlefield.

An auction house.

More armor choices. When prophecies came out we didn't have that much choice as today. But I realised that with each campaign/expansion, new armors would arrive.

The trailer of guild wars...
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=94_U8byqTBg
Compare to what we have now...
I like GW as a game, but its nothing like in the trailer. Just make Guild Wars not online and give me Devona with her kickass sword so I can fight rotscale, who SHOULD OF BEEN the antagonist of prophecies, as shown in the trailer.
Seriously, what a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE disappointment when I actually got the game

I can't point to a reference, but I think Anet have said that there will never be elves in a Guild Wars game. They decided they prefer to have their own creations (early alpha had goblins and ratmen too, but they got stripped out - I'd guess the dwarves were too involved in the storyline to strip out).

The armour system was one thing that surprised me - while more realistic than the typical method, it still took me quite a while to realise just how the armour did work. The other thing that surprised me at the time I first played the game was the general lack of spellcasting classes - at the time, there were only Monks and Necromancers. Mesmer was only available as a secondary profession, and I remember being one of the people who voiced support for introducing the Elementalist.

Yes I forgot about that one. Till this day, I'm still wondering why they don't have an official forum. Was it to safe money, moderating etc.?

Well, coming from WoW ...

The lack of elves is an improvement, but I could have done without the nasty clanking dwarves also to tell you the truth. Maybe Gnomes, though, simply because they are elitist and obnoxious.

What is lacking ... auction house noticeable. Mail system maybe. A genuine shape shifting class, PvE only, would be nice. A real summoner class, PvE only. Other things lacking to jazz up PvE: crossbows (give me a crossbow darnit); black powder rifles at least (I want to hear my weapon go bang).

Mounts really don't fit in, but perhaps we could have had sedan chairs with bearers to carry us longer distances?

Some sort of profession, crafting of some kind, but given the items system in the game there is not much room for one.

Jumping, swimming, flying ... at first they seem really nice .. but they don't really do all that much for me and I don't miss those features.

Integrated world ... overall, I prefer the instanced world in this game and others I have tried. What I really like is going into an instance and knowing it is mine, mine, all mine. No interfering sod "other players" to spoil my fun.

And, you know, strangely enough I have made friends in this instanced world as easily as in WoW's integrated world; in fact it was easier in GW and I am not at all completely sure why.

You are absolutely correct. My son and I play a 360 game that has that feature, and it is very disconcerting and disruptive to suddenly be in slow mo.

I realized sometime ago that Guild Wars didn't have a wizard with beard and pointy hat. I suppose Master Togo comes closest looking that way, but he is certainly lacking the hat element. Certainly different from other fantasies such as Lord of the Rings, where you have many bearded wizards with different colored robes running around everywhere.

And? what? Why we need all this child molesters wizards with beard and pointy hat running around?

What i want and dont see in GW? a pet running around and grabing my drops from ground (for sure... only asigned drops from noobs drops...).

Great RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing huge impressive bosses you need 1 hour to kill.

Monthly invasions from charrs, scales, tengu, summits in some places of world with unique bosses. I think its easy to implement and better double greens weekends.

Special monthly missions...

Having spent a little bit of time in other online games, the lack of an Auction House just amazes me. So much for casual if you want to sell something.

I'll have to look into this, however I heard that there is no AH or something like it planned for GW2. That in itself is epic fail on Anet's part if true. I have heard calls for an AH for almost 3 years - so much for really listening.
Really hope I'm wrong about this

Let's see...
Solo play (yeah I'm not in love with henches... or people)
Skill tree (not saying that would have worked)
2-hands swords/axe or Dual-weild (only prob with these 2 is that one of those 2 tends to be the absolute best for dmg dealing while the other is a RPer'S toy)
traditional stats (inteligence/strenght/agi/dext and so on)
Potions (I remember being in Nolani and realising there was no potion or Stats)

Just wait untill someone comes to you in GW2 with a Ranger Sylvari called Legolas The Elf.

Don't like Ewok? that's sad.

EDIT : "realising there was no potion now Stats" does that makes sence to you?

Horses!!! No wonder the Charr took Ascalon so easily - if only Prince Rurik had a mount!

I wouldn’t care if horses weren’t mounts, they’d of been fine as eye candy. The same with dogs, there’s one in Shing Jea Arena, but a few more dotted about would of been nice.

I also miss from previous games the inability to wield a two handed sword, not every warrior needs a shield. I know we have hammers but I miss swinging a great sword.

Ah, wait? To NOT find?

Hm... not being able to go bck to pre-Searing.
Not being able to charm the Moss Spider.
Not entering houses and such.
Doors that lead to nowhere.
No real flying creatures... they just hover.
Female Elementalist Heroine.
Town portals.
Three more areas in the Charr lands.
Changing builds in by hitting F1..F4 along with the weapons in PvE while outside of battle and with no enemies in radar range.
Doors that open an close when you use them, nut by using a lever and such.
More stuff in guild halls, like animals and such.
Something behind Rotscale. (Why the hell is it there? What is it guarding?)
Thing to do in many places of Kryta an Maguuma, where you don't have to go EVER. For NOTHING AT ALL (except exploration).
More areas at the northeast and southwest in Cantha.

And... the favorite of kids: Xunlai Marketplace. (Yay! I said it once again!)

Completely out of topic :
That idea would have been awesome for the game. Guild wars is about specialisation. But when you have to be ready to counter 10 different kind of builds (vq-ing), the best solution comes back to pure damage.

Simply having 2-3 skill bars (not stats), could allow a mesmer to play more than CoPain spike or 80%ElemSkills support when playing HM.

The topic is "things you were surprised to find weren't in GW". Stuff from WoW (or generic fantasy in general) could well fall in that category...

Thanks For The Fame

I expected there to be more armour sets. I understand your not going to have as many diffrent armour skins with the crafting system, but I wish GW had a little more diversity in this regard.

Thus, I was very upset with EoTN...
