I prolly had a keylogger, so noone should worry for that.
My problem is that my antivirus system can't find shit on my harddrives : (

Guys, you definately should be looking for keyloggers, trojans, and bot-net viruses. You can get them from MSN, Facebook, and Myspace. Be sure not to click on any links people send you, friend of yours or not. Hackers can get just as much if not more for your Login/PW for GW as they can for a stolen credit card number.

Are you not being just a bit to para..........noid?

I haven't gotten the update, but I think I'll uninstall GW before I go on vacation...
EDIT: I haven't actually gotten the update, I don't think. The only one I downloaded recently was the double green weekend thing. However, I DID get a VERY suspicious e-mail from someone who said they were taking a survey. I didn't fill it out, but I went to their site. Is it possible by going to their site i allowed in viruses?

I just loaded quite a few new files, had a hard time connecting before and after the update. Eventually got on and everything was ok. Didnt really see any changes.

I was a bit nervous - still am - since it wasn't an official update. Nothing posted about what it was, or might be. But, I've been back on and haven't lost anything. (Not that I have much anyone would want to steal - no huge storage of plat or ectos or lockpicks - not much elite armor, etc.)
Like others on here, my "update" happened late Sunday, stuck at 99% for about 2 minutes, then closed and restarted like normal. I haven't seen any changes in gameplay. I don't run any 3rd party programs nor mods. Hopefully some glitch with the update server?

Anyways, I'm gonna leave some detail here...
Location: Quebec, Canada.
North American account.
- First computer. Client is updated whenever because it's my main comp.
I had the update Sunday as well, thought it was a bug fix patch. I checked on Wiki and couldn't find details, so I just shrugged it off and didn't report it. I found it weird though. It tired updating it twice; failed the first time, succeeded the second.
- Second computer. Client isn't updated often, not my own comp.
I updated the client again yesterday during the evening, got the normal (big) updates since I hadn't logged on it for 2 months or so. I logged off GW to cook, and when I logged back on I had the strange update. Just like the other computer, the update failed at first, but the second one was completed just fine.
- Third computer. My laptop, client must be pretty effing old.
Going to update the client once my boss goes away. Think they have a press conference this afternoon, I should be safe.
3rd-party programs... doubt so. Texmod is on my computer but I haven't touched it in months, same thing with GWx2. Since then, I formatted the main drive where GW was installed, and not too long ago (maybe 3 weeks) I switched all my games on another drive, separate from my general download folder where Texmod and GWx2 are.

Page 2 of this thread, posts #25 & #38. Not much information, granted, but ti does show that ANet is aware of this and looking into it.
Mr. Undisclosed
I got the update last night, it stopped at 99% and I didn't feel like missing GvG so I exited ran the /image thing and got back in fine. Only programs I had running were vent and IE.

Ive had a number of these updates, they never fail to update and the game seems unaffected for now, but i am a bit worried.
Now i never actually go to websites i shouldnt be on in the first place so im not really afraid i will get hacked or whatever, but i will do some more virus and spyware scans just to be sure.

I just got 2 items downloaded as I started up the game. Oh the weirdness. No problems logging in though.

I haven't had to download anything, and I think I booted up the game maybe 5 times last night.
It's just very strange...

O.K. Just plain stop the paranoia train

well, I think it has to do with some hackers who probably hacked a server with a lot of registred accounts. I guess A-net would sort the accounts by when they're created so we who've played for a really long time and those who haven't played for very long should be safe (in theory).
Not sure that it's like this either, but at least it's a theory cuz a lot of ppl've received an update while the most haven't.

Yesterday I thought - Oh, a new update! It downloaded, then downloaded again, and 2 more times (wtf?). And there was no update at all... but the downloads haven't ended...
I have my GW installed and working since betas in 2004 and nothing like this has happened before - now every 2 or 3 game restarts the game downloads a varying number of files, despite me doing -image always after every update, and twice today.
It can take quite a long time - biggest download I had today consisted of 6 download bars, with up to as much as 49 files (4MB), and with unusually long decompressing times (up to near 2 minutes).
Annoying.

How I came to this conclusion rather than hack - Said player, logs on for about 30 minutes before going to work. Said player was seen in a town where I would expect to see them during those 30 mins before they headed off to work. I am not sure that it is possible for said player to log in from work - hence my conclusion of not actually being online. |

i just downloaded it today. the download got stuck on 99% the first attempt, so i just restarted my whole comp. retried GW and everything seemed to be fine. i dunno.

Only strange thing is Turin (post above) who found his acount completely empty and after another couple mins also his log-on email adress was changed. (he's my guildleader)

Of course, could be the purple broadsword ninjas of doom coming to get us...

Same thing happened here a couple of days after the documented update.
GW was being laggy and not updating in the chat window so I re-logged. When I did, it tried to DL the same file 3 times, looking like it stopped short each time. Finally it started and I logged in as normal.
One other guild member has had this update, the rest haven't. Getting suspicious, I changed my game password and PlayNC password too, though I don't expect that would make any difference if something has added itself to the game client.
Was ok last night, but GW has never updated like that before for me. Any official response on what this may be would be welcome.

I got on GW yesterday and got a PM right away from one of my friends. He was asking if I had gotten any updates recently, because he just had gotten one. He also said something in the lines of "I checked Guru and found a conspiracy thread about this =S".
(So I'm guessing you'll eventually fall on this. PUT ON YOUR TINFOIL HAT! =D)
While another of my friends didn't get the "update" yet. She said she'd pay attention though.

Just wanted to confirm I also got that certain email and it should be an automatic delete for anyone else who may get it.

I also had the unannounced update but something stranger just happened...
I ran -image for no real reason whilst some other stuff was running and hogging bandwidth so I knew I couldn't play just yet. It completed very quickly with no new items to download.
Then when I started the client in normal fashion to log in and play I received an update. That downloaded, and decompressed, then it opened the same screen again and downloaded and decompressed some more, and then it did that again! So, 3 instantaneous downloads, each time the amount downloaded was a different size to the previous and all this after an -image that did nothing.
Although possible, I find it unlikely that there was an update published in the 2 minutes between using -image and starting normally.
Weirdness.
I am also concerned at the poor grammar seen at the end of the "Bogus Video" info on the login screen.

i too got that email.... but i just deleted it and moved on and about the update about 2 days ago i received one not thinking much of it but i haven't been expierencing any problems or anything as of yet..
if it is any help, which i doubt bc i was surfing the web and a pop up popped up and i clicked it by accident..., but for the past two days my AVG free edition picked up: trojan horse sheur.ccxr a total of 4 files so far has been deleted... but once again i dont think it pertains to this
